JOHN MASTERS ORGANICS DRY HAIR NOURISHMENT AND DEFRIZZER! GREEN CHI TUESDAYS!

Tue, 06/24/2008 - 4:50am
  • Hair

Sweetassgal here to bring you the best natural and organic products our Mother Earth has to offer us by the way of Green Chi Tuesdays!

It's a tough world out there...rife with everyday struggles against harsh pollutants, toxic substances, and chemical exposure. No...I'm not talking about all the junk you breathe in as you INCH your way down I-5 in rush hour traffic...I'm talking about what you may be exposed to just from your average morning beauty products! That's right...the very items we turn to for comfort and confidence once applied to our skin and hair can be just as hazardous as chomping on a smog sandwich. We have become a society dedicated to the proposition that all beauty items must be pumped up with preservatives, chock full of chemicals, and have a list of ingredients longer than my Saturday night bar bill in order to be effective. Clint Eastwood here to let you know otherwise (AKA sweetassgal...AKA Angie Provost...AKA your Green Chi reviewer)...coming out with guns blazing, striking down the pesky notion that we need all of those artificial concoctions! It's a showdown at the Green Chi Corral and my bet's on this feisty bunch of beauty bearing bandoliers here at megsmakeup...get' em girls!

Since this is our first week of new reviewers (welcome gals...it's going to be great...thank you to all of our past reviewers...your wisdom has been priceless) and Meg has asked that we really try out the products she sends before weighing in on a verdict then I am simply going to start with a product that I use regularly and already know works wonders for taming my OUT OF CONTROL dry, frizzy, naturally curly hair. I've lived with stick straight and completely lifeless hair almost my entire life. I hit 30 and discovered quite by accident that my hair had begun to change. Being a working wife and mother in my thirties my hair routine had dwindled down to simply wash, upsweep and go. But one day I was interrupted before I could get my trusty clip in my hair and it dried naturally on its own. My husband looked at me 'Hey, did you know your hair is CURLY!'. WHAT THE....NO WAY" He was RIGHT! Slowly over the course of a year my hair began a complete transformation. My hair became a wild mass of inconsistent curls that were coarse, dry and completely unruly. It was like waking up one day to find some strange exotic bird had landed on your noggin' and set up permanent residence. I had NO idea how to control it.

Curly hair by nature is extremely dry and coarse. It seems that the hairs shaft lays differently than straight hair does because the folicles are open and exposed to air and pollutants. This dries out our hair, creates dull looking tresses and brings on the FRIZZ! I'm talking Nicole Kidman in the pre-Tom Cruise years, Gilda Radner on a caffeine high, Gene Shallot after the Brokeback Mountain review kind of frizz...and it AIN'T pretty ladies. This is when I discovered John Masters Organics Dry Hair Nourishment and Defrizzer. I just press a few drops through wet hair, arrange my curls, refrain from touching until completey dry and am left looking soft, smooth and OH SO SEXY! More Andy McDowell...less Andy Dick.

100% blend of pure plant and essential oils chosen for their protective, moisturizing and restorative properties. A leave-in treatment that's proven to be excellent for dry and frizzy hair. Safe for color treated hair. Rub a few drops into ends to combat split ends. Can be added to other John Masters products for extra conditioning. Can be applied to wet or dry hair. Enriched with Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Oil*), Daucus Carota (Helio-carrot Oil*), Squalene (Olives*), Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose Oil*), Essential Oils of Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender*), Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood*), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary*)
*Certified Organic

Please let me know what you think if you've ever tried this as well! Just a note...my only complaint is that this does smell rather 'herb-ie' at first (rosemary...duh...lavender...double duh...cedarwood...HELLO duh) but it dissipates after just a minute or so in your hair and many, many ladies I know LOVE the calming effects of those scents. Are you one of them....good or bad...let's hear it!

John Master Organics-Buy It Here

Now...if I only had this control, curl and volume in the 80's I could have RULED THE WORLD!
Any chance we can bring back this BIG HAIR loving decade?...probably not. I guess I'll just have to settle for secretly wearing my neon jelly bracelets while listening to Duran Duran and dreaming of becoming the ninth member of the Brat Pack!

GLAM ON megsmakeup gals!!!

Great post Sweetassgal! I'm all about using natural/green products! :) I have seen this line at "WholePaycheck". My hair got weird too, it use to be super straight an now I have half wave in it, not really curls. And in the summer I will blow dry it straight and then leave the house and the waves are back in an hour after. Maybe I should just let do itsown wild thing, UGH...This is funny because last time I was at Wholefoods I didlooked at this line beeing very curious but didn't buy any, so next time I'm in there probably this coming Friday, I will need to picksome up to try and will report back ;-)

Definitely putting this on my list of things to try. Florida is a terrible, terrible place for hair, what with all the humidity, heat, and UV damage- plus the air quality in Tampa is pretty terrible. I've got weird, half-wavy hair, and even though I'm young I already experienced a hair change- when I was six! I used to have Shirley Temple curls as a kid, and then one day my mom cut it and it grew back in this weird half-wavy texture. Still, I get the frizzies- particularly around the ends of my hair, so I look a bit like a cocker spaniel- sexy, I'm sure. I totally need to check this out!

Researchers need to look into Puberty Part II...sometime between 20 and 30. My good friend Ellison went from tight, thick, corkscrew curls at the beginning of college and at the end of the four years she's thing and straigh. Its WEIRD.

Well now I'm in a bind. I just ordered the Marco Pelusi anti-frizz leave-in conditioner but now I'm just about sold on this! All these reviews are so darn good I want everything! My hair is incredibly damaged so I'll buy anything that claims to reduce frizz, smooth, etc...

Excellent review Sweetassgal - you most certainly are a natural at this! And you have me sold on this product. I've had a hair change in my thirties as well - but mine didn't go full on curl - it's that gross inbetween thick kinky frizz. So, when I want my hair to look decent, it takes 10-20 minutes with the flat iron to get rid of the kink. When I hit my snooze button too many times, I have to settle for the upsweep as well, and for that to look halfway decent, I have to get it as curly as possible while still wet. I usually use Aveda's Be Curly, but am just not noticing as good of outcomes lately, so am in the market for something new. Maybe this could be the answer. Question: my computer won't click on the link to buy it - is it sold at Whole Foods or Sephora, also?

Sweetassgal, Well I don't have the frizzy hair problem you and my daughter in law have, I will recommend it to her as she one of those natural beauties but always looking for a product that can do it all for her, my little grandchildren are also blessed with her hair, so if it works for her it will be used on their little heads too. I am proud of your first column, keep it going, cuz your a natural at this!! BAM

Hey girls...to elaborate a bit on your questions and comments...this works for dry hair too of any consistency and isn't just for curly girls. And bluce43 is right about the lavendar sea salt spray (perfect for attaining those PERFECT Kate Hudsonbeachy waves). And to Mel...you gorgeous creature...this stuff will help with theinbetween hair (frustrating I know...I was there for a while). The thought here to getting the most out of your halfway curl/frizz is CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION which is why this stuff works so well. Your hair just drinks it in. I also do a weekly DEEP conditioning treatment. I'm waivering between Ojon, Jonathan's, and Fekkai to see what works best. They don't seem to have JMO at Sephora online but theydo at www.beauty.com and www.dermstore.com where shipping is free. Hope you like it...let me know!

Love, hugs and shoes...Angie

This line rocks!! And most products smell much better--he has a bourbon vanilla and tangerine cream that drives men almost wild when I am in an elevator--and I am a sixty year old grandmother. The sea salt and lavender spray is terrific, too. Shampoos and conditioners really produce results--and don't harm the environment. Frizz is not my problem so I haven't used the product reviewed but I commend the products that I have.

Wash your hair every other day or even every third day. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Other than teeming with vitamins and minerals, they provide antioxidants. Free radicals damage your skin and interlope with collagen, production causing premature aging. Antioxidants counteract free radicals. Prevention from the elements is the next step in treating dry hair. Never brush your hair when it is wet. Brushes break your hair. Using a spray-on or leave-in conditioner once a week will help pierce hair cuticles and leave your hair feeling soft and looking beautiful.http://www.hairstylesphoto.com/http://www.hairstylesatoz.com/http://www.haircuts-ideas.com/http://www.hairstyles-pics.com/
