Sweetassgal - my dad likes to "accidentally" leave his money investing magazines around hoping I'll pick up good habits. If your 16year old gets a job every summer in high school and puts $3000 total by age 22 into an IRA than you have a cool, tax-free $2million at age 65 and that's NOT INCLUDING any further contribution after the initial amount. That's some pretty independent wealth! (OMG don't tell my dad I heeded his accidental-on-purpose needling).
