CARMINDY FOR SALLY HANSEN EXTRAVAGANZA! DRUGSTORE DEAL THURSDAYS!
Hello DD devotees! Rachael Robbins here I'm writing to you from my Iphone, as I wait for my general contractor to get to my house and tell me why my newly carpeted basement, where my computer as well as all my shoes are, is slowly filling up with water. Yeah, major bummer. Not enough of a bummer to stop me from bring you the best of my DD's!
But thank goodness there are new and wonderful DD's to keep my spirits high!!
Ok, so in my last mailing from Meg I got a few things from Sally Hansen (Meg is always hooking me up with potential DD goodies!). At close inspection I noticed that these particular Sally products were inspired by the beloved Carmindy from the hit show "What Not To Wear". Now I know my next statement might insight another online lynching of yours truly, but.......I HATE THAT SHOW!!! My hatred is compounded by the fact that my mother is constantly quoting the show to me. No, I mean it, CONSTANTLY! To the point where she now calls it "that show you don't like me to talk about". But she still talks about it! I figured that I would quickly check out the products and then quickly pass them onto her.
That's not what happened.
What did happen when I tried the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Your Skin Foundation in "True Beige"? I returned my newly purchased Armani Foundation right back to the Sak's 5th Ave from where it came! This foundation is amazing! It has the perfect, most natural coverage. There is nothing cheap about the quality of this foundation. But here's the best part: you do not need any powder to set it. It kind of sets itself without looking greasy or settling into fine lines. Its a well known fact that powder actually ages the look of your skin so if there is a product that can let me skip that step, I'm a believer! Also, often times applying blush or bronzer directly over foundation causes a blotchy effect. But not with this foundation! This stuff made my skin look flawlessly and naturally perfect! I felt like it took 5 years off my age.
I really can't rave enough about Carmindy's Sally Hansen line. I'm so excited to explore the entire range!
I know we got a bunch of stuff to try soy ladies please say exactly what it is you got!
I love the Carmindy for Saly Hansen line so much I may have to start watching the show! What did you ladies think?

I got the foundation in porcelain, and the luminizing face primer. I was sort of hesitant using a drugstore brand makeup but it is the best foundation I've ever used. It covers really well but looks completely natural, and you can't feel it on your skin at all. It makes my skin look great. meg also forced me to use the porcelain and it looks perfect on my skin. i think I've been using colors that are too dark, (I mean ivory is even too dark) It makes my skin look like a porcelain doll. I also love the luminizing face primer. It gives the skin a beautiful glow and adds to my new porcelain doll appearance. Now my biggest fear is that they won't carry at the drugstores by my house, I'm about half way out and i'm starting the search for my refills.
OMG! okay seriously...i'm jealous as far as jealousy can ever go of all of you who got to review the Carmindy makeup with Sally hansen! Carmindy is my hero!! I watch what not to wear just for her....man...they don't sell that makeup out here in Jamaica....so I will have to wait until I go away unles Meg has some leftovers and is feeling sorry for meeeee:)....Anyway, the first time I saw Carmindy use it, i was searching all over the internet for this product with the leaf on it...at one point the bottles didn't have labels yet, and I often tape WNTW just so i can get a closer look at what products she uses...so when the product finally launched I was like oohhhh, that's her product! FINALLY...man...what i wud give to have the stuff to try! (even more now because y'all are returning Armani stuff for it!) Sounds like Carmindy made gold!
Every time I watch WNTW I'm blown away by how wonderful Carmindy looks....her skin is sooo beautiful. As soon as I finish this load of laundry, I'm off to look at this foundation. I hope my local CVS has it. Ulta is having a buy one get one 50% off. So if I find my color at CVS then I can order it at Ulta online. It sounds great! And even though I don't need any more bronzers I'm going to pick that up as well. I've got to try out the brush! Thanks for sharing this Racheal!!
I'd like to preface my review with: Carmindy is pretty much the nicest person EVER. I sent her an email just asking her if she used that previously reviewed ERA bronzer or not. She replied within about twelve hours (either overnight if I sent the email in the evening or during the afternoon if I had sent it in the morning...cant remember which). She said yeah...but hers was her new favorite bronzer. And what was Megsmakeup's address so we could all try it? How cool is that! The next time I got a super fun package from Meg - was three awesome things from Carmindy's Sally Hansen line! My only bone with it is that CARMINDY should be bigger on the label because I would be bags of Dog Poop if she told me to. She's so sweet! Anyhow I got the "Your Skin" makeup in Golden Beige. At first I thought it was a little yellow for my skin but that turns out to be good because it covers up the red splotchiness I get from going in and out of doors frequently. I love the texuture. It's light and whipped and feels really hydrating. NOT GREASY. Next the Cream Bronzer in Rio glos is fantastic. It can be sheer or tan-errific. And Desertdoll is right, that little brush in there is GENIOUS! I also got to try the Natrual Shine Lip gloss in Mystical. A pretty nude pink - so up my ally. It doesn't taste bad and its not sticky and doesn't leave a tacky "residue" on your lips after the color is gone. Carmindy is my hero.

I shop with Stacy and Clinton too!! Friday night glass of wine and What Not to Wear and I’m a happy girl. Kate, I’m so happy to read that Carmindy is as nice as she looks on TV, how refreshing. I received the Natural Shine Lip gloss to try in a mauve color, sorry I don’t remember the name. Whenever I put it on I always think of the lucky ladies who get their makeover by Carmindy, the last thing she does is apply the lip gloss and it finishes off the look perfectly. And for me like the rest of the girls I like that its applicator is a brush and not a sponge, I think this gives you better control. It’s a light color so it complements lipsticks nicely. I can’t wait to find it one of the local drug stores. Thank you Carmindy for your generosity and sharing your line with us!!
OMG, I am ADDICTED to Carmindy's Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Your Skin liquid makeup. One pump does my whole mug and stays all-day pretty. I also switched to her all-over brightener instead of my old benefit highlight pencil and high beam. Want to try the eye shadows next. If you're having trouble finding the products, try Ulta or CVS first. Also their Web sites. Sally Hansen Natural Beauty site has all the product info so you can study up before ya buy. Have ya'll checked out Carmindy's new book: Get Positively Beautiful? A-Mazing stories, pics and tips. It takes her first book 5-MINUTE FACE and turns it up to 11 with a whole slew of info and important ways to start seeing your own damn beauty instead of focusing on flaws or make-believe celebs!
I am soo excited to try this product out! What really inspires me is Carmindy's natural beauty philosophy. I am going to the store first thing tomorrow to try out the foundation. Wish me luck and I'll report my findings in the morn.
aarrgghh, Ulta does not have the cream blush............... does anyone know where else to look? CVS in Miami does not have the products yet and the darn blush is already sold out at Ulta online. Anyone here have any wonderful suggestions?Thank you
I also received the bronzer which I am LOVING!!!! It's the perfect balance of matte and shimmer. I was a devoted worshiper of the Sugar Bronzer (so much so that i broke it and re bought it three times!) and now I'm OVER IT!!! I LOVE this bronzer! It has a little crescent of pink between the two shades of bronze and they mix perfectly together. It's the first bronzer that is subtle enough to actually mimic a true life tan! I dont know what is is about it but it just makes my skin look sun kissed and flawless! I cannot wait to get to the store and try the illuminating primer (so I can return the one I bought from Armani as well!)
I got the Sally Hansen foundation in "sandy beige" color - totally love it! I was very hesitant in the beginning as I (thought I was) difficult with foundations. No color would suit me and no texture would satisfy me. Lately I've just given up on the whole concept of foundation and then, I tried on the Sally Hansen one, just to show the Megsmakeup girls how awful the tine would look on me. They all yelled it was awesome and that I should have it. So I did. Now I wear foundation every day. This one is very very moisturising, almost oily, so you can even wear it without using a face cream underneath. It smooths out perfectly. If you do want to use a cream under it, just wait till it is absolutely absorbed. Other than that, it stays on forever (that's pretty unusual for oily textures) and it covers up all the bad stuff. Yesterday a friend asked me if I had my makeup done! A MALE friend. How cool is that?

I bought these products a few weeks ago before my brother's wedding. My mineral foundation just wasn't looking right for me. I love them! I never thought I would go back to a liquid foundation after switching to mineral, but this foundation is so light it doesn't feel cake-y at all. I also bought the illuminating primer. I really like how it gives my skin a subtle glow. Out of the bottle it looks like it might be too shimmery for day wear, but it isn't. I mix it with the foundation for a sheer-er look. A little primer goes a long way though and it is of the family of making your skin feel slick at first until you put make-up over it. I have to say though I love the show! It even got my dad to quit wearing pleated front dress pants.
was wondering where you can buy this make-up
i have been a mineral make up devotee since 2001, and have VERY (I mean VERY) oily skin. i thought mineral make up was really my only option to remain blemish free, but within an hour of applying my morning mmu, i was shiny all over. ugh. i overheard 2 women at ulta extolling the virtues of carmindy's make up line and decided to give it a try. i am soooo glad i did! this make up is simply wonderful - and even with my over 50 extremely oily skin, this make up seems to normalize me somewhat. no breakouts either. i sent carmindy a note to thank her for the make up line and she (or someone at sally hanson) sent me back a lovely note saying to watch for more products in 2009. so a great foundation, great for us oily skinned gals, looks flawless, powder is wonderful, cheek rouge looks pretty and natural, eye make up is fantastic (no creasing!) and even the mascara is good (looks natural - so no false eyelash looks there, but a lovely natural look instead). i can't recommend this cosmetic line enough!
Ulta.com also has the full line and probably in store too.
Katie
Is there a website for her products? I went to Sally Hansen and didn't see anything...............
I'm totally out of the loop, as I've never even seen the show! But I have heard of Carmindy and so knew to be impressed when this arrived. Also, I noticed her airbrush foundation at CVS and am really curious to hear any reports on that, as I just spent $60 for Dior's (which is probably the best $60 I've ever spent, though). Anyways, I received the Natural Shine Lip Gloss in Moonlit Mauve. I echo everything Olliebee said about it. The brush is really nice and easy to use - just swipe and it's got great coverage and spread quickly. Sometimes those sponge applicators - which I do like - just seem to suck up the lipstick that's already on my lips. but not this - it goes over lipstick nicely, but it's also good on its own. I was surprised and love how moisturizing it feels on, too. Not sticky at all. It's a really pretty, light color. I'm really impressed and look forward to hearing more about this line!
I love the powder bronzer mentioned above, the one with the three different colors with pink inbetween. It makes me look totally naturally tan...not at all fake. This is something anyone can use year round and not look fake. I also just bought the cream blush in Beaming and it is beautiful. So natural looking and it has no shimmer in it..just what a cream blush should be like. Definitely now debating getting the cream bronzer with the brush because of all the good reviews. Yay for Carmindy...she should develop more stuff!!
Coming late to the party to say that yesterday I picked up the liquid foundation in Creamy Beige and after one application I, too, am ready to toss my mega-expensive Armani silk foundation. First of all, it is a perfect match to my skin tone, and second, it just melts into my skin, leaving it even, smooth and fabulous without looking like I'm wearing anything. Love it!
Desertdoll is so thoughtful. . She’s intuitive in more ways then the average gal! She sent me a couple items by Sally Hansen Natural Beauty to review. I had no idea this was inspired by Ms. Carmindy, until I read RR write up. I’m sure if Carmindy laid eyes on my get-ups, she would fall over, and have a lot of work ahead of her, and I’m sure she’d tell me that I’m in desperate need of a new wardrobe! I am pitiful in this area and I know it! However, when it comes to make-up I do alright-better then alright. .. I always have, since I was a teenager... I used to do my little sisters make-up before she’d go off to NYC on a “go-see”. She was a teen model first for Wilhelmina then Ford and then finally working for years at Elite... so she’s too, is a great movie make-up artist and loves the art completely. So, I never poo poo makeup lines before I try them. Shit, we’d put Preparation-H on our eyes to control any puffiness... We learned never to knock anything until you tried it. I am always interested in trying out new products! So, I mutter all that to say, that Sally Hansen has finally arrived in my book. I was floored by the website. check it out.. It’s done very nicely and is easy to navigate. www.Sallyhansen.com. I’ve used her nail products longer than I’d like to admit.. (that polish last forever on your nails). I got the Natural Shine Lip gloss in Bronze Berry.. It is great stuff. I even like the brush it has instead of the usual wand that we’re used to seeing in glosses. It last long and looks great on. Loads of shimmer and shine. It stands alone fine.. it also works well over other lipsticks.. I also, love the Sally Hansen, “Summer” Sun Glow Powder Bronzer. It’s in a fantastic container.. It’s clear top allows you to see the three colors to use and it comes with a decent brush for easy application.. It also has its own mirror. Lord knows it’s great for when you’re out and need to brighten up the place with your face... I’m so tired of using my knife at the table in a restaurant! I limit that now to check if I have spinach or chive in the choppers! I do like two items I got.. I will be looking into the foundation next trip to the drugstore..Thanks!
oh, i just saw kates post w/ the websites, thank you kate!
I have been to Longs, Target, Walgreens, CVS and Ulta in both Northern and Southern California and I cannot find this anywhere. Where is it? Someone please help me find it as i desperately need to buy more foundations as I only have 15 or so right now.
This is the second item I've gotten recently that I never would have picked up for myself, but I am so glad that it's now in my aresnal! I got the Sheerest Cream Bronzer in Havana Glow (the medium one), a cream bronzer with no shimmer. In the compact it kind of looks like foundation, but the wrong color for me-a dark tan. I never would have thought this would be so brilliant. This leaves your skin with a very sheer tan, a very natural looking tan at that. The fact that it has no shimmer makes it perfect for day. But I think my favorite part is the brush that it comes with. A brush for a cream you say? YES-I say. It's genius. It's flat and skims the surface of the cream, picking up the perfect amount. As a matter of fact, I met with a NARS makeup artist recently and he showed me what he called "the most perfect blush brush", the NARS version of this exact brush. I love how affordable this line is and can't wait to check out more items. Way to go Carmindy!
I love your Mom, Desertdoll. I bet she'd love to shop with me because my imaginary friends "Clinton and Stacy" often accompany me.
Katie
I love love love the face primer, it is total silk, not crazy about her base, looks a little chalky on me and I honestly think that it has wax in it, very hard to get off. Love the creme blush though, (it is really and truly creamy and sheer) and intend to try just about everything. CVS will let you return anything, so this is an easy product to try. I have been waiting for a year for these products to come somewhere in Atlanta. She is so wonderful on what not to wear, would buy anything she made, just becuase she is so sweet! But Gals, do get the makeup primer, you will not be sorry, especially if you are over 40. It's an instant youthful glow, but not shiny or fake.
Ok, I love What Not to Wear and my favorite part is Carmindy! I received the Natural Beauty in liquid foundation in Tawny Beige and the Natural Shine Lip Gloss. I've never worn liquid foundation and have always hated the feeling of it on my face. I'm really torn about the foundation. When I first put it on, I was amazed how smooth it made my skin look and just how much coverage I got from it. Rachel is right, I didn't feel like I needed anything else over it - it looked finished and it didn't look or feel shiny or greasy at all. I think I really like it! I don't think it will be an everydaything for me, but for a night out or something I'm getting dressed up for I'm going to use it. My question about foundation is how do you get the right match for your skin tone? My only complaint was that in some light I looked a little orange so maybe I need a different color? As for the gloss, its a gold sparkle that goes on clear and I love it.The applicator is a little brush which I also like and it makes a wonderful top coat or for when you just need a little something on your lips for a trip to the grocery store or something like that...its a keeper. On another note for all you Meg's makeup'ers, I was at my local TJ Maxx this morning where they has an entire displayof Lancome items (blushes, foundations, eyeliner, gloss, lipstick, bronzer, eyeshadow single and duo - tons of stuff)and each item was only $7.99. I was there early and got some good picks, but by the time I left there was a smallcrowd around the display!
I got the Natural Shine Lip Gloss in Brillant. It has a bit of reddish tint to it. I love it, it is great for kicking around the house or running to the store, and it goes nice over liner if you want to spice it up at night. It smells like cerries or something sweet like that...I can't figure it out, but it is yummy! Lasts a good long time too. I really an a lipgloss junkie, and I love this one. There is tons of shine to it!Oh, and I LOVE Carmindy!!
After reading your review, I think I need to try the foundation. I have really oily, over-40 skin as well, and like you, I thought mineral makeup was pretty much my only option. I was just wondering which specific foundation you used? I bought the air-brush one, and it was just okay. Thanks!
I love Carmindy, but I can never find her products! Except for a few at Walmart. But I continue to hear nothing but glowing reviews of her products!
They are readily available at Ulta!! Give them a try. They are so good...
Booo, I have never seen the foundation in store over here. They only have the lip gloss. Why? Why?

I watch the show religiously, and I love Carmindy's work, but I haven't tried anything yet. After reading these posts, I think I will check out CVS today. I think the last time I looked, they were out of anything in my color range, but since everyone here seems to love the products so much, I won't be happy until I try at least a few.
So I just returned from CVS, where, motivated by these posts, I purchased: Sally Hansen Natural Beauty luminous matte pressed powder, fast fix concealer, airbrush spray makeup, and then some other stuff, not discussed on this post. So now I can't wait to do my makeup tomorrow morning! Although I am pretty much comitted to mineral makeup, bc of my oily skin, and the fact that the minerals are supposed to do good things for your skin while you're wearing them, I thought i would give this a try, since I'm a sucker for anything with "air-brushed" on the label!
Well, you had me at not aging us. The rest is icing on the cupcake! (With sprinkles.) Thank you for a comprehensive review - I want to try this right away.
i recently have been addicted to all things sally

Okay, so this is totally my fault for not reading the label, but why do companies label something as "air-brushed" foundation, and then instruct you to spray it into your hand and apply with fingers?! To me, airbrush implies that I can spray it right on, like my DiorShow airbrush foundation. (only a whole lot less expensive). So I actually did just spray on my face, and layered BE mineral veil over it, and it did look really good. I started with the face primer, which does give you a nice luminosity.
I really want to try this. Does anyone know where I can buy this in Canada? I am hesitant to buy a foundation over the internet without seeing the true colour. In Mac I am a NW25. Thanks,ARtcandy

This sounds like a great line, I love Carmindy she's so beautiful!!!
just yesterday i pitched a mini-fit and told the world at large that i hated my makeup and was throwing it all away. all of a sudden everything i do looks icky and gross and my face has decided to migrate south. i've been a WNTW devotee (you couldn't tell from looking at me) since the 1st guy was on that Clinton replaced and one thing never changed - Carmindy is amazing! so very nice, helpful and supportive and although she can certainly pull out some drama looks she sticks with what will be easy and doable - and quick. so now i'm planning my trip tomorrow to ulta to buy whatever they've got and to ulta.com to buy the rest. between her greatness and the fantastic reviews y'all have given i'm totally sold! and i can't wait can't wait can't wait to try and jump on the bandwagon!!!
I really like this line as well! I already have my EDM so I didn't get the foundation, but I tried a cream blush from the Inspired by Carmindy line and it looked terrific! I can't compare it to any other cream blush because that was my first. It was kind of expensive; I think it was $13, but I got it during a sale.
It's funny how a product could actually make us want to watch a show we hate!! Seriously, I love mark cosmetics but HATE Lauren Conrad but she looks so great in all the mark ads that I kinda want to go buy the Hills.....Ewww!!!
*~*AMY RENEE*~*When life hands me lemons, I'm opting for lemon pound cake!
I love Carmindy, I wish I was as good as she is with makeup. I haven't seen that line here however or maybe I just haven't looked hard enough!!
I can't wait to try her line! I love her makeup philosophy on the show, (I don't care too much for the show either) but I always love to watch her segment where she is doing makeup! I will totally check the foundation and the other products in the line! I hope they have carry them in my area!
This stuff is great. I use the pressed powder like a foundation because it's one of the only colors I've ever found that's light enough for me. It lasts a long time but still requires a few touchups throughout the day. The primer is excellent also!

She is so pretty!
this looks really nice!
I have the eye palette in storm and it realy, really needs a primer to get any kind of pigmentation or staying power. With a primer it makes for an easy, wearable smokey eye. If you want a dramatic smokey eye, this isn't the product. I have 2 of the glosses and love them -- they wear beautifully. Not at all sticky and with a fruity, pleasant scent that fades quickly. Since I loved these so much, I had to pick up a lipstick when I saw them on sale at Ulta. I'm just sorry I only bought one -- sparkling berry. These apply like a dream, so smooth and creamy. The color payoff is good as well. I'm going back tomorrow to pick up more.
