MARK HOOKED ON GLAMOUR KITS! DRUGSTORE DEAL THURSDAYS!
Every Thursday Rachael Robbins brings you the best of her DD's!
Although this line is not at your local drugstore it is priced very, very inexpensively at Meet Mark
I've always been a big purse girl. Not suitcase sized big, but sizable. The origin for my big bag penchant started when I did my 8 year stint in NYC. Anyone who's ever lived in manhattan or the burroughs knows that once you leave the house for the day, you better be prepared for whatever is to come because generally you go from the gym to work to drinks to your booty calls house followed up the next morning by the walk of shame. Then repeat. So you basically have to carry everything with you in some sort if receptical. Most people opt for back packs. I call them "The Turtles" (not the 60's music group, but the amphibious type). There is the other bunch of us who would rather die then carry a backpack, hence the necessity of a big bag! I needed mine to be able to fit: cell phone, makeup bag, date book, high heels, a headshot, and wallet. So you can get the idea of the size of bag I'm talking about.
Even though I live outside the city now and have the luxury of piling all that stuff in my car, I never let go of the big bags. But just recently I was taking a vaca in South Beach and for the first time in YEARS found myself exasperated with my big bag!! I mean seriously, what do you need while shopping & lunching down Lincoln Road? Credit card, ID, cell phone, and lip gloss! Suddenly I was desperate to trade in the big bag for a smaller one and ran out and bought an adorable tiny doctors bag from L.A.M.B. And I kid you not, I felt liberated!!!
I'm ten pounds lighter when I go out at night! Which brings ne to my awesome DD for the week. This is my first experience with Mark, Avon's makeup line, and its a PERFECT addition to this small bag era in my life! I know how much we all love double duty makeup products and this one is a nightlife diva's dream come true! One side of this sleek wand is the most sparkly, shiny clear gloss called "Pearl Luxe". With this stuff on my lips, my pout could be spotted from accross a crowded
club! The other side is a liquid eyeliner in "neffriti" the most beautiful shade of charcoal with an subtle irridrcent shimmer. The brush is super fine for easy application.
This is the perfect item to throw in your little purse for a night onthe town. A touch up of gloss & some sexy kitten eyes! Ill quote the writing on the packaging "glow baby glow!"
This kit is completely wonderful! Everything snaps together! Eyes one end, lips on the other. Or maybe you want to do eyes and eyes? Color on one end and snap the mascara end right on! You get tons of different combos for an easy-to-find and space saving look! 5 products that are insanely great for $20! That calls for one little clutch!

Desertdoll slipped the a Mark Scanda-lash and Crystal Shimmer lip-gloss in my bag.. it was hiding in the bottom of the bag and I almost missed it. I usually poo- poo this sort of thing but when I used the mascara I liked it and I also liked the pretty lip-gloss.. I run out the door more time than not without any makeup on.. I just got to have that extra 10 minutes snoozing. so I have used this in a pinch while sitting in the passenger seat as we drive to go to a friends or wherever. I used it a few times while at work and my girlfriend one morning commented on the product. She wanted to know the kind of mascara it was. She thought it looked really pretty - it has a purple hue to it on your lashes.. I’ll bring it in for her to try too.. I think she wanted to get one too. I think that younger girls would flip for this. It’s not too expensive and might teach a valuable lesson.. That being, it does not take much to make your face look pretty without twenty containers!
One of my very good friends is an Avon rep, so I end up buying quite a bit of their stuff. Mark is inexpensive, but I find it doesn't last long. My nieces love it as the hook ups are handy, but they walk around putting gloss on all the time. Sort of a look at me guys gesture. So for those of us out of the teen years, I find this a thumbs down. Go to Avon and buy their stuff which lasts longer and might even be a little cheaper on occasions. Avon's mascara is a good buy for the price. Especially the one that you can bend the end on.

I would recommend this product because you really do get a ton for your money. I sell avon and mark. but really, I'm fairly unbiased...I'll tell you what I think is horrible! For one, I absolutely HATE those Winksticks. I had high hopes because they're initially very pretty but they crease like CRAZY and never dry down to a power like the good cream shadows/sticks do.
I want to love this so badly b/c it's such an ingenious idea (eyes on one side, lips on other - so perfect for the to-go makeup bag), but they have a ways to go with the formulation. Like Sharon said, maybe it's more for teens (although being a junior high teacher, it drives me crazy when that girls try to reapply their makeup during class!). The shadow just doesn't last at all. Even with UDPP, it all ended up in my crease within an hour. On the positive side, the eyeshadow color I tested was beautiful - it is the winkstick in "Envious" - a gorgeous spring green with gold shimmer - but just too creamy, I guess. The other side of my stick was the lip balm - Sheenstick in "Angelic." Very moisturizing, actually - very impressed with this for that - the smell is reminiscent of chapstick. So, if the shadow lasted longer and the other side was a hot looking and long-lasting gloss, this would be a permanent fixture in my makeup bag. Until then, I'll be giving it to my most makeup-obsessed student...on the last day of school!
No kidding! I would love to go do the NYC routine BUT what would I do with the husband and kids ;) I noticed the rave review about the Mark line and the not-so-raving review. LOVE the hooked on glamour kit for 2 reasons the i-sheer in praline because it serves as a eyelid primer which I need for my oily skin so my eye shadow won't crease AND the Beautiful Crystal Shimmer in Flirtette. I never would have know about this technique had it not been for the magalog HOW-To on using this kit. You have to try IT!Although there are some products I don't like, (there's got to be when you have tried everything - LOL) I think the Avon reps give Mark the snub. I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toeshere but it's NOT just for teenagers. My top 3 right now:-the KABUKI brush is awesome for blush/bronzer touch ups-Glow Baby Glow in Sun Luxe which comes in the warm glamour kit-instant vacation self tanner for face as featured in Lucky May 2008 p.190I hope this helps encourage you to try them out.Check out my e-Boutique to register & receive products updates and promos - http://mnelson.mymarkstore.com And PLEASE contact me if you have questions about other products. I'll give you my honest opinion!
I will have to try this, and Rach you really made me want to live in NYC and do all that fun stuff, especially walk the walk of shame, hehehe.
lol @ the booty calls house and walk of shamethe mark hookups are great because you can customize it to be anything - even brushes!

I can't get enough of Mark!
I love mark. I love the great quality of their products, but I also love the hook ups and small packaging of their products. Its a big space saver. This particular set is great b/c it's everything you need for touch ups in great colors (besides powder or oil absorbing sheets - which may I add mark came out with some that are fab) and you could fit it all in your back pocket (you'd look dumb but it was the best metaphor/analogy I could come up with). You could really leave out the On The Edge eyeliner and Scanda-lash mascara because you never have to touch that up (at least I don't.. they stay on and look fresh all day/night!).I also love mark's handbags...just thought I'd throw that in there.
Eyes on one end and lips on the other? This is a great concept...especially for those with limited purse space.

I want this so badly guyys. !
I find that Mark products are appealingly packaged, but I agree, they have little staying power. Which makes it a great line for young girls just starting out with makeup, because I can still remember how I used to just pile it on and on and on...
I haven't tried it before! But it sounds really neat, and I think ill try it sometime.
Another brand i'm desperate to try that i can't get here in England :(
Lillian, some Mark reps are willing to handle international orders and will ship it to you. I don't do any international orders, but if you want to email me your info, I can pass it along to the rep forum and see if someone will contact you :)andi.poulson@gmail.com
I think this looks great! I really hope I can find it some where close to me.
