SHISHEIDO EXTRAVAGANZA! FAB FRIDAYS!

Meg here with quite a conundrum. I have Shisheido marked as a "Fab Friday" item. I thought from the packaging and quality and overall reputation of the company that everything was going to be very pricey. Well, while it certainly is not a DD, I'm looking through the press releases on the items Jenia so graciously sent us to try out and I can't find anything over $100. In fact everything seems to run around $20-$60 except for the NutriPerfect Day Cream Spf 15 and Night Cream at $92. I guess I always just assumed Shisheido was created for really deep pockets and you know what they say about assuming.

Shisheido sent us ladies out 6 different items to test. I'm funny at our mailings, you would think I'd say "I'm grabbing this! And go pick first. I never do. It's so strange. It's one of the things I'm going to be working on. I'm a strong, vocal person but I have a deep fear of seeming rude or greedy. I also apologize to furniture when I bump into it and leave atleast a dollar tip at Starbucks for my $1.75 coffee. On the flip side, if I have one cigg left in my pack or there's only enough champagne for one last glass-go for it. I can promise that will be the last thing you ever go for though. Addiction is stronger then affliction.

Anywhoo, all the products were laid out and all the ladies made a play for them until there was one lone lipstick left. It was tre's uber Barbie pink. A frightening pink that screamed "Baby Jane". Back to the don't judge a book by its cover, I said I'd test it and opened it right there. It's a great spring color. The color is Rouge Iris from their shimmering lipstick line. It went on suble like a gloss with golden, metallic shimmers. It also is packed with oils that feel so smooth on your lips. The girls should have read the press release before they chose because this lipstick is "A new shimmering lipstick innovation, combining the glossy brilliance of lip gloss with the staying power of lipstick".

I can hear Desertdoll kicking herself from here (about a 2 1/2 car ride away.)

If everything the other ladies chose performed as well as my new shimmering lipstick then I think Shiseido is a beautiful brand with an upscale, yet realistic price tag. My shimmering lipstick retails for $22.00

Thank-you for reminding me that the "If you have to ask then you can't afford it". mantra is not always true.

Ladies please post what Shisheido item you tested and how it fared? Other Shisheido fans let us now what else we need!!

Lucky, lucky me got Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Eye Treatment. What Shiseido says: "A highly moisturizing anti-dark circle eye treatment that addresses both discoloration and poor local microcirculation... Brings a brighter, more vibrant appearance to eye areas." YES it does!!!! OMG. As anyone who has ever read any post of mine knows, I spend THOUSANDS of dollars every year (yes, thousands - no exaggeration) on eye treatments and products to try to reduce the appearance of my horrid genetic dark circles. This product really REALLY WORKS!!!!! INSTANTLY - on the FIRST application - the circles miraculously dissapeared. Great texture and moisturizing to boot. I am in love. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Did I mention I LOVE Shiseido for creating this miraculous eye treatment???? BUY IT!!!!!! It is AMAZING!!!! I will use this every day for the rest of my life.

I received the Shiseido Multi-Shade Enhancer Refill in sunset glow peche fondante. It’s a beautiful collection of a magnificent blend of FIVE bronzing colors to play with. I used this last night as I dressed up for a very special occasion; my baby sisters baby shower, at Lakeside Golf Club up in Burbank. It was so nice to have so many compliments on my complexion and my gorgeous makeup. I haven’t seen some of these people in a long time and it made me happy to hear such nice comments about how great I looked. Granted, I was in LA where everyone says such a line to make a friend, but these were good old friends of our family.. so what the heck would they have to gain from me! I unabashedly said, I am wearing a new product that Shiseido puts out and whipped it out of my pocketbook (purse) and showed them.. of course it went around table to table and I could hear the comments. Wow, this is so nice.. it also comes in a handsome sleek compact case.. feels smooth in your hand and also has a great big mirror to boot. I always like when a product like that is seemingly popular just as it stands on its own merit. Yes, this is a product you should check out next time you’re a Macy’s or wherever there is a Shiseido counter near you! It is only 25.00! How about them there apples!

Okay, so makeup-wise, I love Shiseido's cream blush sticks. They are really pigmented and last forever. I especially love the Peach Flush shade for summer. Their foundation sticks are great, too. They give really good coverage, so you don't really need concealer. I also am in love with their Advanced Volume Mascara. The stuff doesn't travel and it looks like you're wearing fake lashes. I don't know why it doesn't have its own cult, yet. I'm getting ready to hand out flowers and Shiseido at the airport as I type this. I also love their Pureness line for breakout-prone skin. FYI, You SO need the massaging face brush with any of their cleansers because it really helps the cleanser do a better job without irritating your skin. Eye cream-wise, I swear by the Bio-Performance eye cream during the winter. It's very rich and you notice almost instantly that lines are softened and dark circles are faded. One bottle will last you FOREVER. If any of you have super dry skin, you need to try the Benefiance cleanser and the Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizer cream. My Shiseido lady gave me delux samples for my mom to try. My mom is so dry it's like the Sahara and they instantly turned her skin around. They made her look so much younger. I love, love, love this line.

Well, I'm not kicking myself-I'm congratulating myself cause I too chose the Rouge Irise shimmering lipstick. My shade is SL16 which I think may be the shade in the picture. I'm not really a pink lipstick girl but this was too pretty to pass up. So glad I did! This is sheer and has a real glistening shimmer to it, really wearable and totally gorgeous. My only negative comment would be that they coat the outside of the lipstick itself with a uber fine silver glitter so that it looks REALLY shimmery, but when you start to use the lipstick itself, you realize the actual color doesn't have this glitter (it's a total superficial coating). It's kind of misleading but I've seen this done in a few new products lately so it must be a trend. Really beautiful packaging too, this ombre effect metal tube. Lovely all around!

I kept hearing good things about Shiseido lipstick, but being a poor college student, I didn't think I could afford them. Then one day I went to the counter, and found out that while they were a little expensive, they were totally worth it. $22.50 for a lipstick is much more than a drugstore brand, but the quality is totally worth it, and I have yet to use up this lipstick (and it's still good!).I am currently hoping to try some of their skincare line, but have to use up what I have first before I can justify the purchase.

I received the Shimmering Lipstick in a real pretty peachy coral color, sorry I can’t remember the name. Like DD said when you look at it in the tub is looks like it’s going to be a real frosty, thank goodness it’s not. I found it to be very creamy with a nice shimmer to it. For me it didn’t last that long on my lips so I had to care it with me to reapply throughout the day. While I liked the lipstick I didn’t love it. And with so many other lipsticks out there that I love I’m not sure I would purchase this one.

I got The Makeup Multi-Shade Enhancer in Terra Cotta Glow (retails $25). I was jumping for joy when I opened this package- the 5 colors of this bronzer are gorgeous! Shiseido says it is "a shimmering bronzing powder that gives the skin a naturally sun-kissed look. Contains Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE, a lasting moisturizer." My skin looks and feels great with this. I've been twirling a kabuki brush over all 5 colors (arranged in lines down the compact) and lightly swiping my entire face, neck, and decollette (sp? never can remember how to spell that one!) with it each morning after applying my foundation and the effect is stunning. Perfect amount of sun-kissed color and natural glow - slight amount of shimmer - just enough for the light to play off your features. It's perfect for this springtime of year when the sun is just starting to shine every day and you want the extra color, but are still pasty white. It'll be perfect in the summer too though, to highlight an already tanned face and body. So, I've used all the colors blended at once, but there are 5 arranged from lightest to darkest that you could choose from based on your skin's color needs at different times of the year. There's no orangey-yuck to this at all, just beautiful bronzy tones. They also sell this in a lighter and pinker-looking set called Sunset Glow, but this Terra Cotta Glow is exactly what I'm looking for in a bronzer and I'll buy it over and over!

I tried Shimmering Lipstick in SL15 (catchy name). I thought it might be too pinky/ purple but it was so perfect for my coloring, I could drool (without smudging the lipstick of course). The texture was creamy and slick but not glossy. The pigment was deep and dimensional without screaming "LOOK! I CAN COLOR INSIDE THE LINES!!" For me, its a tiny little daily indulgence.

I love the deep cleansing foam from the pureness collection ($21) it works great, my skin feels fresh afterwards and i don't have overly oily skin throughout the day which is great! i really do wish they would bring back the energising gel from the mens line. it's only available in japan now and it makes me very sad :(

Eyeshadows from Shiseido are awesome! They have some unusual shades, some people just can't find the right shade if they had to cut their right hand - they should try this line then, maybe this would suit their skin undertone.
