SUGAR COSMETICS! EXTRAVAGANZA!
Kate2004rock is our resident Sephora expert! It's Meg here to bring a true Megsmakeup cult item back to your attention now that the sun is out and you can shed your ghostly hues! All of the girls lost their minds back when Sugar sent us their Tropic Tan Duos and Bronzers! Read the reviews! I can say hands down it is the BEST powder bronzer compact I have ever used. Anyhow, Kate2004rock ran into the Sugar rep doing her Sephora duties and reminded her of her friends here at Megsmakeup.com. Got to love that Katie! She's always plugging us!
Low and behold about a week later, I received a big box of various Sugar goodies for us to try out. Now, I don't know, they have set the bar so high with us already (their Kabuki brush is also to die for!) how they could compete with their own bronzer. Are they really that multi-talented?
I picked their new Colorstick cream eyeshadow in Apple Cider (a golden tan shimmer) it's a "Beautiful, creamy eye shadow sticks. What it does:It's okay to color outside of the lines! These creamy shadows glide on effortlessly and dry to a shimmering finish. With a fool-proof application and a creaseless formula, Sugar Sticks can be worn alone or layered with powder shadows."
The color is very light and subtle, I have it in my purse cosmetic case for quick eye touch ups during the day. I don't have to worry about it going to crumble and no applicator is needed so it's perfect in the car at a red light. For ladies that are fans of the no-make-up naturally pretty look this is a great eye brightening tool. It doesn't make my nightime routine though as I go for more walaah! Drama when the sunsets. If you're one of those corporate types where vampy eyes are frowned upon then I'd give this a ringing 9-5 endorsement.
It's a great product and I like it, but again, if anyone ever tried to get between me and my Sugar Tropic Tan Bronzer, well, now that would not be pretty!
Ladies, pour some Sugar on me! What did you test and how did you like it? Let us know!

It's been a while since I found an eye shadow palette that actually had a whole bunch of useful colors in one compact. Usually you get one or two amazing colors and then two that you never end up using and they go to waste because they are just too over the top. This is why SUGAR's "ROUND THE CLOCK" eye shadow palette called "Day Job" is so handy. The mirrored compact is an inch and a half by four inches and in it you have eight bars of practical colors: neutral cream, shiny taupe, sparkly brown, golden brown, frosty olive, deep navy blue, muted lavender and lastly a sparkly deep rich plum -- all colors that you can wear to compliment brown, blue, green or hazel eyes depending on what combination you use them in. In the past I have never been much of a "palette" person but lately I've been zipping around on business trips and something like this becomes the ultimate eye makeup solution. You can use it dry or wet and because the colors are all set in the compact next to each other you can blend them a bit just use an eyelid cream to set the stuff because otherwise it will migrate. Great colors, practical packaging, good buy.
Ok, I've actually tried all of their newest products (obvi..that's why I said you have GOT to send these my my dear friend Megan Makeup!). Anyhow, firstly I've been wearing the Sugar Tint daily since I got it. I love how it covers, it has sunscreen, and even though it comes out a little bit dark from the tube - ANYONE can wear it as long as you blend, blend, blend! I also really love the Sugar mascara. I love how its double duty - lengthening and volumizing with the two ends. But since they are both black you can pick and choose if you want to be!

Sadly, this is a no for me. I got the Color Stick Cream Eyeshadow in Limeade, a bright spring green. The color is beautiful, but just a bit too glittery for me. And like most cream shadows, it settled in creases eventually so that they glittered with a "hey-check out my wrinkles!" sort of exclamation. Not a good look. Maybe this is a line better suited for whippersnappers and I should move on to the Susan Lucci collection...
I got to test the Sugar Fix Cream Concealer in Neutral (I believe there is only one color per the Sephora site). I've been very impressed with this as a blemish and spider vein concealer (spider veins on my nose, cheeks, and neck - yuck). The consistency is very creamy, covers really well, and is a great color match for my fair skin. I also gave this to my mom to try. I've mentioned her before - Sicilian lady with olive skin and VERY dark under eye circles - you can't really see them on my profile pic of her b/c she's been using Max Factor's Erase for them since she was about 13 years old - and so is a really hard sell on any other concealer. Her review is that she was quite impressed with the coverage and the consistency, but not the color. It was too yellowy on her olive skin. She loved the thinness of the stick - said it gave her more control in placement of the product, esp. in crease of nose, etc. She said it didn't quite last as long or was as creamy as her Erase, but she'd buy it again if there was a better color match for her. For me, the only downside of the product is the packaging - I throw this in my makeup bag and would like twist bottom to stay locked in place. But, the product can roll up and smash into the top of the lid with just a little twirl. So, all in all - for spot concealing on my fair skin, this is a definite winner and I'd buy this again!
I got the Sugar Color Stick Cream Eyeshadow in pink fizz. I LOVE it!!! I totally wrote this product off immediately as I have a TON of red in my eye lids, and so I stay away from red or pink eyeshadows like the plague, but this TOTALLY brightened my lids - I was SHOCKED!!! It has the perfect amount of shimmer, it STAYS, it doesn't crease - truly is the perfect product for minimal work for maximum result. It is soooo easy to apply - no brushes necessary - so gentle on that delicate skin - how wonderful. Also - if you put a dab in the inner corners of your eyes, it reeeeeally brightens them and opens them up and gives the illusion of less dark circles. Really - can you ask for more in an eyeshadow? I DEF am going to go get this in every shade!!!
The Glitter-wheel-o-rama landed on Sugar's Grape Soda Color Stick Cream Eyeshadow. Luckily for me, I was hosting an 80's themes bachelorette party last weekend. I couldn't find that perfect blue 80's eyeshadow, but this was even better. This isn't "the boss is in from Tokyo" shade or "I don't like him, but I'm ordering the lobster before I dump him" shade. It's the "30 is the new 20" shade for a night out (or in) with the girls. You can tone it down to make it more daylight friendly with some clever smearing. But where's the fun in that?
I tested the Color Stick Cream Eyeshadow in Blue Pop, and I really loved the color and with some serious powder as an underlayer it worked better than on it's own...Because with no underlayer, I have to say the same as DD it settled in the creases big time.. Which is a bummer because the color is lovely and I love the easy application. I think in cold weather and non-humid zones that may happen less and I'm giving it a yes because I really like how it went on and easy app. but I wish I could vote 50/50 because of the crease-fest.
I have wanted to buy some Sugar cosmetics but I just haven't had the money after my Urban Decay binges. Yes, I binge...and bad. I had already spent $60 on Urban Decay last week and low and behold, I just spent another $60 last nite!!
