KIEHLS ULTRA FACIAL CLEANSER AND TONER! SUPERBLY RESTORATIVE DRY OIL!

Desertdoll here to bring you some brand new finds from a favorite line...

I use no less then 11 beauty products when getting ready for bed. My bedtime ritual: (count along with me, won’t you?) 1. A swipe of Eye Makeup Remover 2. and 3. “Sonically” clean my face (device and Cleanser) 4. Toner 5. Serum 6. Eye Cream 7. “Zap” any blemishes followed by 8. Acne Cream 9. Hand Cream 10. Foot Lotion and 11. Lip Balm. If I shower before bed, add at least 6 more products. On any given night there might be a wild card product as well. Moisturizer, cuticle butter, a product specifically aiming to fix whatever my latest obsession is (right now it’s a neck cream). Some nights I may do them all. That’s 20 products...

As you can imagine, this all takes some time. My hubby has already been in bed for 15 minutes by the time I crawl next to him. The other night I lay down but quickly hopped out of bed to grab something to read to which he exclaimed, (with mock urgency in his voice) “What’s wrong? Did you forget to put cream on something?!”

I remember when all I needed to get ready for bed was to wash my face. But alas, these days it takes more than some oatmeal soap to keep me looking fresh. My cabinet looks like my very own department store! Cause really, who has just ONE of any product? Certainly not me. For someone who likes a simple life-it can get kind of confusing.

There is one brand that I use more than any other. I’ve used (and continue to buy) them for every product listed above (minus the electronics), and I can’t say that for any other brand. You know them, I love them-it’s Kiehl’s!

Getting the chance to write about the line during our special South Coast Plaza week was one of my favorite assignments here at megsmakeup. When my new favorite person in the whole world, SCP Kiehl’s manager Rae, contacted me a few weeks ago and said she was sending some brand new products for us to test, I wondered if it was possible to love her anymore? (Answer: no) Snuggled amongst potpourri in a gorgeous red box with a gold bow were 3 new items along with some travel sizes of their classics.

First up was their new Ultra Facial Cleanser and Toner , the newest additions to their ultra line (lead by Ultra Facial Moisturizer-a best seller since it’s introduction in the 70’s). These follow suit: straightforward, gentle formulas that hydrate, soften and condition while being suitable for all skin types-even sensitive. This is effective, no nonsense skin care at it’s absolute best.

Both products dissolves excess oil, dirt and makeup and left my skin feeling so clean and soft that since their arrival I haven’t reached for anything else. The cleanser is formulated with a sugar-derived glycoside foaming agent and the Toner has no alcohol in it, so neither will over-dry or strip skin of its natural oils. Both contain emollients like Squalane, Apricot Kernel Oil, Vitamin E, and Avocado Oil, and are PH-balanced to maintain your skin's natural balance.

But I’m REALLY feeling the love for their Superbly Restorative Dry Oil. Derived from Argan oil, only found in the Argan forest in Morocco, this has twice as much Vitamin E as olive oil and is prized for it’s ability to “restore resilience, strength, smoothness and moisture levels to underwhelmed and under-nourished skin and hair”. Give me a exotic ingredient, I’m intrigued. Tell me it will nurture my dry skin, soften my hair and strengthen my nails, I’m excited. But it’s the product itself that has made me a believer. It’s got the lightest and most refreshing scent that mixes perfectly with anything. Plus, my skin absorbed it instantly and it left behind a actual glow. A tiny bit in the ends of hair worked beautifully, as did a few drops on my hands before bed. Best of all, it’s a purchase you can feel good about as it’s 100% organic and fairly traded to support the development and sustainability of the region it’s from. If you've never been a fan of oils before, I’m positive this is the one to change your mind. But there's a lotion version too, just in case.

So, let’s hear it-do you love Kiehl’s new items or do you LOVE Kiehl’s new items?

Kiehl's - Buy the Ultra Facial collection here! (The Superbly Restorative Dry Oil is too new for even the website, but keep checking-it's so worth it!)

Kiehls has long been one of my favorite lines. Back in the 90's (that would be the 1490's - I'm old), I dragged my sister and baby through New York to the original Kiehls store because I just couldn't find the products anywhere else. This was before Nordstrom carried the line and before they sold to Lancome. I dropped hundreds of dollars in a short time and was hooked. The new Ultra Facial Wash is excellent and a little goes a long way. It cleans my face thoroughly and doesn't leave it tight. The makeup comes off easily. I went into the Kiehls store inquiring about a travel size for my recent vacation. It doesn't yet come in a travel size, but the wonderful employee (Lincoln Park, Illinois) gave me a dozen sample packets even though I didn't buy anything that day. Kiehls still has customer service!!! Run, don't walk, to the closest Kiehls store.

When I look back on all the fun I’ve had with Meg’s Makeup the biggest highlight was our trip to SCP and as you know it started at Kiehl’s. Of all the places we visited that one holds the best memories. Everyone was so nice, informative and generous. Well imagine how surprised I was when DD emailed me that our wonderful friends at Kiehl’s had more products they wanted us to try. The cleanser is so rich and creamy and my face feels clean but not dried out after using it. The toner is like nothing I’ve used before, very milky, yet light I know that sounds strange but I can’t think any other way to describe it. For me I think it works best on a flat square pc of cotton than on a round cotton ball as it doesn’t absorb right away like a normal toner. My face felt very soft after using it. Like DD and CC I to am in love with the Superbly Restorative Dry Oil. I use it after every shower rubbing it all over my damp skin. It soaks in right away, leaving my skin silky smooth. I’ve also been using it on my cuticles right before I go to be and they have become much softer. And now I’m using the doggie line on Blu, she loves the Spray and Play Cleansing Spritz because she doesn’t enjoy bath time. I’m able to prolong the time in between baths because the sprizt does a great job in getting rid of the “doggie” smell (as her mother to me she smells beautiful all the time) and it gives her coat a great shine. Oh we also got a sample of the best hand cream in the world!!! Ultimate Strength Hand Salve, if you have dry hands this is a MUST!!

The Kiehl's Dry Oil sounds soooo cool DD, and their cleanser and toner I have to try as well. I can relate to the 20 step night time routine, it sounds ridiculous, but my skin is really looking great these days. I would have to say that I am most obsessed with eye creams, but would love to know what is your favorite neck cream.

Something has tilted in the universe - I reined in an impulse purchase - THESE PRODUCTS. If I had any kind of flexibility, I would be kicking myself in the arse right now. I just re-ordered my Kiehl’s standbys (Foaming Non-detergent Washable Cleanser, Herbal Toner w/ Mixed Berries, and Panthenol Protein Moisturizing Face Cream) the day before this post. These new products were plastered all over the home page... I even had them in my basket. Rats. If I didn’t feel so guilty about having the UPS truck make the trek out here, I’d be placing another order right now. (If USPS delivery were an option, I might melt the numbers right off my credit card.)

Hey DD, I'll bring you the milk and honey scrub on the 8th! I just got that couple months ago.. Love it, and so will you! You just made me want to take a Kiehl's product shower! I need one anyway! She’s right, My sister was over the other day and went into my bathroom and commented to me about the collection, and wanted to know if I actually used "all this stuff?" Silly question!

I use KIEHLS facial products but not this [you can see what I DO use in my profile.] But the way I see it.. I'm been battling with my face for 10 years; combination skin, dry patches, a few breakouts.. I finally got a few samples from KIEHLS and within 3 uses my skin was how I've always wanted it to be. The way I see KIEHLS-any product from them is a good product.

So many things to say! Mel-this says it's ok for face too. I couldn't imagine it, but it your dry it would probably be great. I'm sticking to body and hair. I've really gotta try that milk and honey scrub. I bet it's divine! Ollie-I bet the baby line is amazing. Their products are so gentle anyway. 38/29-totally agree, the steps can be a pain but such a big pay off. I think my skin looks better in my 30's than my 20's (when I was lucky to even wash my face before bed. Ah-youth!) For neck creams right now I'm just using moisturizers that I don't quite love for my face, thrifty cow that I am. But I've got quite a few I'm coveting. Ruthie and IFW-I love that these products called to you, both consciously and un. I know you will both find your way to them. Just a side note-Pamelairene has more kiehl's in her bathroom than they have in their store! I find reasons to have to wash my face when I'm at her house.

I had never used any sort of Kiehls product before and let me just say what have I been missing. The ultra-facial toner makes my face so soft and makes the texture so even. It is fabulous and I dont feel like my face is all tight and dried out after using it. Also I bough the oil and it is so fun. I hate putting on body lotion because I dont like sitting around waiting for it to dry and feeling all goopy, but this absorbed right into the skin, no goopyness or waiting around AND I looked all glowy and fun. The guy at the counter gave me a sample of the ultra-facial wash to try, but I havent used it yet because I want to save it for when I am traveling to LA next weekend. But I have a bad feeling I am going to end up back at the Kiehls counter if this stuff is as good as the other stuff. Also as a side note, who knew Kiehls was so inexpensive? Not me! The toner was only $15. I was expecting more like $30, which is what my last toner cost, which meant I obviously had to then get the dry oil!

KIEHL’S AGAIN? Go ahead and twist my arm, because I love this store! I will never tire from anything in this store.. They just rule the universe in my opinion. I would even swear my allegiance on a stack of King James Bibles too! Let’s see what’s next to “experience”. That’s what I compare it to, an experience worth having. It’s as nice as a dreamlike place you never want to leave.. so amazing and comforting! First up is their wonderful ULTRA FACIAL CLEANSER. I have another cleanser I love called, “Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser, I have really liked this for years.. I was thrilled to give this a go! It’s got a gentle formula too.. it cleans well. I like it because it’s a great makeup remover. It also has great ingredients too! It has a specially formulated sugar-derived glycoside which makes it a great foaming cleanser. It’s loaded with a concoction of Squalane, Apricot Kernel Oil, Vitamin E, and Avocado Oil. I also like the way it comes out of the container too.. no mess! It’s yet another keeper! ULTRA FACIAL TONER I love that this line is for all skin types; it is the best hydrating toner yet! I have tried many a toner too! I love toners.. I have various ones from Kiehl’s already, and this little newbie is superb! It will never dry out or strip your skin of its natural oils. I think that you can never have enough of a good toner, honest! I find that this one in particular soothes my stressed out skin wonderfully. I’m going to sound redundant here, so bare with me please. I’ve said it so many times it’s borderline tuning into a outright stutter.. I just love Kiehl’s with every fiber of my being and so does my face, body from head to toe. Ok, I said it and feel better now. I think one major reason is that its ph is perfectly balanced. It also contains no alcohol. My face knows when it’s not!• What nice about this toner is that It instantly prepares my face for the next step. That being the Ultra Facial Moisturizer. I think this is so important step we shouldn’t neglect. It would be remiss of me not to mention that I also have the ULTRA FACIAL TINTED MOISTURIZER SPF 15. Yes! I have fallen hard for this one too. It’s made with a light-weight tinted moisturizer with Apricot Kernel Extract, Chamomile, and Royal Jelly. Tell me that wont’ float your boat. It all sounds amazingly fantastic when you think about the care put into this line! This facial moisturizer goes on nicely and is completely absorbed by your skin within seconds. My face truly looks amazingly healthy! It’s the best of both worlds here and I only have to use a dab! You can even feel safe to wear it outside with its added sunscreen. Lastly, the ULTRA FACIAL CREAM- This line last up to 24 Hours, and will last all day long. My cousin Johnny(a rugged fellow) swears that this stuff saved his face while he was living in Taos NM. It’s light-textured hydrator reduces moisture loss and keeps the skin protected all dang day! I highly recommend this if you are out in the harsh elements often. Kinda like a glove for your face! I just love this as a nighttime cream too. I love what I read about this product too.. I quote, “Kiehl’s was honored to lend support and protection from the elements to the heroic team of the “Greenland First Ascent” expedition. The six explorers completed the first-ever ascent of Greenland’s ice covered peaks on May 30th 2005”. Check out their site and read more about this great product! Kiehl's has a great policy in that they only use the finest ingredients known to them, and they make all the unique formulations -also, Kiehl's does not test - nor have they ever tested products on animals. Just us peeps and we love it! TEST Me anytime!!!

What is so excellent about this company too, is that they have samples of everything they make and they are extremely generous with them - ask nicely and you can walk away with stacks of samples! Question I forgot to ask before re: the dry oil...is it for the face, body, hair, or all? Is it like a moisturizer?

I've never tried anything I didn't LOVE from Kiehls! All I've tried from this Ultra line was a sample of the toner, and it is fabulous! As Chi and Doll said, it's an almost creamy toner, but not in any way thick or bad - still refreshing. I can definitely see buying this for more moisture-needed days, but Doll has converted me to being a Calendula girl too mostly (I use their Tea Tree toner during that time of the month, too). You girls have sold me on the face wash though - that I will buy as soon as my trusty Lancome foam cleanser runs out - esp since it works good with the Clarisonic for us greasy-faced girls. Since we're on Kiehls, one more shout out for my new favorite product of theirs - Soy Milk and Honey Body Scrub - get it now everyone - you won't regret it - BEST EVER SCRUB! I LOVE KIEHL'S!!!

• Yes, more from the peanut gallery! It seems to never end. I recently waltzed into Kiehl’s and noticed the NEW Superbly Restorative Body Lotion, which was proudly displayed at the South Coast Plaza Kiehl’s store. Of course, I was interested! Anything they display has my attention; besides, it is plastered on the storefront! So, you know I want to see what they have up their sleeve next. I know they are constantly making amazing new products. You must try this new line if you have a love for keeping your skin healthy and young looking. Superbly Restorative Body Lotion is made with fairly traded Argan Oil. What is that you ask? Why, it’s Moroccan Argan Oil and Argan Leaf Extract which has twice as much Vitamin E as olive oil. Everyone knows that olive oil and vitamin E is a Godsend to our skin! This formula is loaded with antioxidants and essential fatty acids to help hydrate and strengthen our delicate skin. It is the great defender against those nasty free radicals that love to damage your skin. I also love the pump it comes with.. I really think that is a great-added feature! I have this on my sink with everything else for after my shower or bath.. my skin really loves this! • • More on this oil from Argan! Superbly Restorative Dry Oil, found only in the Argan forest in Morocco, and is prized for its ability to “restore resilience, strength, smoothness and moisture levels to underwhelmed and under-nourished skin and hair”. Here’s the best part about this oil.. It’s multi purpose. So, it’s fantastic for my face, body and hair! I used this on my hair, it soaked it up instantly.. Yes, my mop really likes this! It helped smooth my split-ends and when I put it on my face an body, it leaves my skin looking like something wonderful just happened.. You know that glow! Check out the website if you are not fortunate enough to have a store close by!

Ahh, Kiehls, one of my all time favorite brands! We had such a great time with them at SCP and, of course, I was thrilled to receive this beautiful box filled with their new Ultra Facial line! To be honest, I was a bit worried about the face wash. I have Never been disappointed in a Kiehl's product before, but I was scared this very creamy face wash would be too gentle for my oily prone face. Well the bottle says For All Skin Types and I will never doubt Kiehl's again - this wash is fantastic! The texture is so creamy and rich, but it lathers well and really seems to dig out all of that dirt deep in my pores. I've been using it with my trusty Clarosonic and could not be happier - like Ddoll said, once I tested this face wash, I just keep going back to it and all of my other washes have been brushed to the side. Onto the toner, which I have been using at nighttime, because it is almost a combination of a toner and a moisturizer (two items I don't use during my bedtime ritual). I use a cotton ball and apply the toner to my face and it seems to clear and tone and moisturize my skin all at once - very handy! Finally, I love, love , love the dry oil. It's true, this lush oil just disappears into skin leaving it soft and glowing! So very nice for arms and hands that need some extra attention - you can use this during the day without having to slow down to let the moisture sink in. The 100% Organic quality of this oils makes it even better! Thanks Kiehl's for making some of the best products out there!

It's really a cool toner, isn't it? Chi is right, it is a toner/lotion hybrid, I've never seen anything like it. Calendula is still my #1, but this is great for times I need a bit more moisture. I used to use a Kiehl's cleanser way back when that I think was called Rare Earth something that was my favorite cleanser ever...till they discontinued it. And honestly, I've never found anything I liked quite as much-till now. This cleanser is amazing-creamy, cleans really well, foams great, leaves your skin feeling fresh. Love it! And I'm a body oil lover, so it's a given that I like the Dry Oil. But honestly-it's just the best I've used. I heart Kiehl's!!!

I have only had the pleasure of experiencing Kiehl's when I visit Toronto. It is really a great place. I have tried a few different products. I especially love the lip glosses. I have also used some of their acne products with success. My only real problem with them is that they are a little pricey for a pauper like me. But they are very nice and give lots of samples typically. This of course makes it a little easier to sink money into a new product. So I certainly recommend this company based on quality. Unfortunately, not every one can afford it.

When I find a cleanser to be excellent, I tend to remain loyal to it - especially since I am a healthy chemical free person. I may try others, but always return to the one that continues to be excellence year after year. Despite more costly cleansers - the Made from Earth Green Tea Toxin Cleanser has been my cleanser of choice for the last 5 years. My skin and eyes are extremely sensitive, so I am very cautious with the type of cleanser I choose. This one was recommended by a dermatologist and I'm very grateful for the suggestion. It is extremely gentle, fragrance free and can be used directly on my eyes. I apply it onto my dry face, rub it all over, then rinse it off and pat my face dry. I gave a bottle to my sister and she was impressed, too. In all honesty, I don't know if she's returned to using the chanel cleanser, but I am as faithful to the Made from Earth skincare line. If you too have sensitive skin, try the Green Tea Toxin Cleanser for a nice treat - you wont be disappointed.
Also - dont buy at your local Whole Foods. .They are usually overprice their products..its worth it to buy online for the discounts..even with the shipping expense it is cheaper...

Argan oil!  I got home and sat down in front of the computer to read Argan oil, I was talking to the owner of my favorite Moroccan Deli about Argan oil not 30 minutes ago.  She is married to a Moroccan man and has been using Argan oil on her face and hair for years.  She looks amazing!  She is ordering me some food grade Argan oil to use.  She said the only difference between the food grade Argan oil and cosmetic grade is the fragrance.  Apparently some people find the odor of the oil objectionable so the cosmetic grade is de-scented.  I asked her to order me a bottle of the food grade, because in my opinion as well as hers, all natural is better than processed.  Will keep you all posted on the results.

This stuff looks FANTASTIC. I love Kiehls and I have been dying to try argan oil- so what a good combo for me, huh? Kiehl's is my most beloved brand- if I had to choose one brand for life it would definitely be them. I just wish I could afford more of it! Thanks for the review!
