JUNE JACOBS MASQUES! FABULOUS FRIDAYS!

Fri, 02/29/2008 - 1:49am
  • Miscellaneous

It's Fabulous Friday! Where Desertdoll brings you dream items worth the splurge...

I just love a good facial. The plush robes, the warming mitts, the steaming, the layer after layer of lux products. I even like the extractions. I can’t think of anything else that pampers you more and shows such immediate results. Plus, how often do get an hour with someone who has infinite knowledge about skincare? Take full advantage of that one on one time to ask questions.

There’s one line that I see in more spas than any other- June Jacobs. As a matter of fact, the last 2 facials I received were at spas that featured June Jacobs in most of their treatments. But I’ve been noticing it for years. Names with fresh ingredients in them; Cranberry, Papaya and Citrus, along with products that have a more scientific edge, like Age Defying Copper Complex and Brightening Serum with Retinol.

The June Jacobs line, close to 70 products strong at this point, has been around since 1999. In earlier years, June worked in a prominent NYC plastic surgeon’s office. She learned so much about skin that she decided to pursue a career in the skincare industry, developing not only her own line, but also co-founding Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skincare.

I think they sum up their remarkable, comforting line best: “Based on high concentrations of carefully selected botanical and plant extracts, recognized for their soothing and restorative powers, the June Jacobs Spa Collection marries age defying science and luxury. June's belief in both paraben and preservative free treatments combined with hydrosol technology, which distills active ingredients to its purest form, delivers unparalleled results”.

We received an item I have been longing to try for years, one of their star products, the Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Masque. Masques are one of the easiest ways to get a spa-quality treatment at home. And this one is one of the best on the market. It’s got slight tingle to it, which I really like in a product. Plus, it smells fabulous! Pumpkin acts nature’s own gentle exfoliant, so it’s gentle yet super effective. And best of all, it’s suitable for all skin types. Here’s what they say “This deliciously spicy, skin purifying pumpkin enzyme masque is a gentle enzyme “peel” designed for home use. Gently digests and exfoliates dead skin cells and impurities as it delivers pumpkin’s botanical repair benefits into the skin. Leaves the skin cleansed, detoxified and silky smooth. Age-fighting anti-oxidants and vitamin A protect and silken the skin. Roughness retreats and dryness disappears.”

I happen to love pumpkin, but perhaps smelling like a pie is not your thing? No problem, we also got to try the Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque . Very similar to the Pumpkin-gentle, natural exfoliating enzymes-except this is a mix of Papaya, Mango and Pineapple. This masque is also a creamier base to the gel base of the Pumpkin and is therefore a bit more moisturizing, yet still suitable for all skin types. I’d really say it’s a scent preference as to which you chose, because they both gave great results and left my skin feeling soft and looking gorgeous!

So, if June Jacobs had you postponing that facial, let us know!

I loved the June Jacobs products they used on me at The Spa at South Coast plaza. Red salt scrub and lotions that smell like Citrus and Coconut - they were not only awesome but kept my skin hydrated for hours and their smell stayed there! I can't wait to use more of their products.

I tried out the Pumpkin Enzyme mask. I would give it a favorable comparison to the Juice Beauty Green apple peel. It smells natural and fruity and I love a good tingle! You definitely feel brighter and tighter after using it. And the tub is so big you could bathe a toddler in it! It will last you about a decade I think!

I too was lucky enough to receive the Papaya Masque. The first thing that came to mind when I opened the container and applied it to my face was, this is like whipped papaya mousse. It is so luxurious!! The smell is fantastic and when on my face it felt so refreshing. It washed off easily and afterwards my face was baby bottom soft. No wondered it was a favorite in Spa and Lucky Magazine. I had tried June Jacobs products a few years ago when my mom came home from a spa weekend in Palm Springs. When she unpacked her suitcase, much to the dismay of my dad she was fitted out with the skin care line. She let my sister and I tried all of her goodies and we loved them.

I miss this mask! Another reminder of a love I have lost. What do they say, "It's better to have loved and lost, than to have never to have loved at all?" That is how I feel about this amazing mask! This mask smells great, it gobbles up all those dead skin cells, (gobble is kind of synonymous with pumpkin and turkey....hmmmm.) Back to the review at hand; as Ruthie said, it eats up dead skin cells. I wanted to also mention that it's great to use if you've had a pretty intense chemical peel, but not right after. It's awesome to get rid of all the peeling and flaky skin that can come with stronger chemical peels. But, be careful, the Pumpkin is pretty active, just don't leave it on too long if you're sensitive! :)

oooo the Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque is wonderful! I have fairly normal to dry skin and this left it so soft and comforted! It really leaves you clean and moisturized. The scent is so fresh and nice! Like Blus Lee Lee said it's like whipped papaya mousse! It's one of those products that smells so good you could eat it!! What I liked most was that it was so comforting, like I was giving my skin a refreshing drink. I am anxious to try more of her products. You can tell this line is very aware of whats good for your skin! Highly recommended to anyone who has slightly dry skin, your face will thank you!

I was lucky enough to receive the Papaya masque to test. Holy Moly-what a mask! It's very different from other masks I've used, like mud masks, cause it doesn't dry. It goes on very creamy and stays like that. It tingles slightly, which I guess is the enzymes doing their job. You're left with really soft skin, skin that looks like you just came from a spa. Oh yeah, and it smells delicous-like a smoothie on your face. Really great product!

the good thing about these masks are that enzyme masks only eat away at dead cells and then they are done. you can leave them on for a longer amount of time than glycolic or other acid masks that keep working. good thing if you get a really good phone call or something equally exciting! carolb

At the spa opening I went to late last year there was a June Jacobs table set up with a bunch of woman surrounding it, rubbing their forearms then making some sort of sign of ecstasy, closing their eyes, smiling, making their mouths into big o's...it looked like a lot of fun! I found out they were all going gaga over the cranberry body balm and promptly made an o-face myself. Wow, the smell was heavenly. And best of all, it stayed on me into the next day! So in addition to the masques, their body products are divine. I kept the Pumpkin masque to test and just wanted to reiterate my pleasure. Smells fab, love the tingle and really did wonderous things for my oily skin. I've been using this once a week and I look forward to it every time. This line is kind of pricey-but oh-so worth it.

June Jacobs Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Masque: I love Pumpkin! I have always thought that it made sense to use it for its therapeutic properties. June Jacobs The reason it’s so affective as a mask is because of its very active enzymes. Okay, I have sensitive skin.. anyone who knows me knows this.. I was reluctant at first to give it a go.. but I waited to make sure my skin was doing well and came out on the other side pleasantly surprised. I only felt a slight tingle when I used it. I didn't get a burning sensation, but you do know that it is on. My face turned a little pink while the product was on for the first few minutes, but with any active enzyme this is how you can tell it's working. This masks botanical repair benefits are noticeable within just a few uses. it defiantly will smell just like a pumpkin pie to you. .. I looked forward to the time I had in on. My skin feels extremely soft and has a nice glow to it. Smoothes, softens and clears. Not too shabby. It also has age-fighting vitamin A and the anti-oxidants work naturally. It borders on gentle... My skin felt ultra dewy after rinsing away with water. A bit pricey but a little goes a long way and it a nice size jar Next I want to try June Jacobs Cooling Cucumber Masque

chichi says,

I was the lucky recipient of the Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Masque. The first thing I noticed about it was the heavenly smell - like fresh pumpkin filling for a pie! The scent is just so true and fresh - I loved it (even though it makes me hungry for pie). I was also surprised at the thick creamy consistency. Most mask I have success with are the type that dry on your skin. June Jacobs masks stay wet (but the masque does stay put) the whole time you keep it on. I like how easily, quickly and cleanly it washes away. Nothing stuck in your hairline or around your ears. This was so lush and creamy I wasn’t sure it would do anything for my oily skin, but as soon as I had it on, I could feel the slight tingle Ddoll mentions in her review that means the masque is cleaning deep beneath the surface of my skin as it exfoliates dead skin. A big plus is that depending on your skin and your needs, the masque can be kept in place from 3 to 10 minutes. I use it about 8 minutes or so and am left with healthy, glowing, super clean skin! I love having this spa quality product in the privacy of my own bathroom. A definite thumbs up from me!

There is nothing quite like a good pumpkin enzyme masque. BBW used to make one that showed up as one of Oprah's "favorite things" and you couldn't get it for months! Now it is discontinued.

Love June Jacobs products, I've been using the Mandarin Polishing beads for a few years, they exfoliate your face without the thick gooey feeling of other face scrubs.  Their products also smell wonderful.  Funny story...a male friend got hooked on them when he stayed with us and found the bottle in the shower and he's a guy that would never admit to using products, and he is still using them.
