URBAN DECAY 24/7 GILDE ON PENCILS! SATURDAYS AT SEPHORA!

Sat, 12/22/2007 - 1:21pm
  • Eyes

Every Saturday kate2004rock brings you the best of Sephora as only an insider can!

People say the funniest things sometimes. One of my favorite "goofy little euphemisms" is that "Its the best thing since sliced bread." I mean apparently, life was just so much harder when you had to slice (and bake) your own bread. But think of all the things that have been invented in any of our lifetimes that we don't know how to live without. I mean, 15 years ago, no one had a computer in their house...let alone one for every person. We have 5 for 4 people. I remember when we only had ONE cell phone that my mom and dad shared. Oh wait, I remember when there were no cell phones. People had pens and paper next to the phone. It's amazing to me what human ingenuity can come up with. I'm trying to think of non-electronic examples but I'm coming up short at the moment - there has to be something (I was born in the mid 80's. I can't help if I'm a child of the electronic age). Jet aircraft. That's a long way from a covered wagon. (Ok, that's not QUITE electronic - its physics and chemistry). Inoculations - people don't get polio anymore! (At least not in the developed world...). I firmly believe that humans are capable of miracles.

Then again, in the warped mines of beauty-addicts, product junkies, and Sep-Whore-a's alike, there are the products that we don't know how we ever lived without them before! Urban Decay Primer potion, waterproof mascara, Orgasm blush. And I think next to be added to your list: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on pencils. They're creamy gel pencils that really do glide on - but they DON'T rub off! They stall all day (and all night!). The come in a fabulous array of colors for ever mood and makeup personality. Plus they don't drag on your delicate eyelids - they're half moisturizing ingredients like Jojoba, and Vitamin E!

Here's what Urban Decay has to say: "Glide on color that stays put for the duration of your non-stop, on-the-go day! These cushiony, creamy eye pencils deliver powerful, vibrant color that slides on smooth and stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries to a long-lasting finish that won't budge. Line eyes with a hint of color or go for the full artistic, multi-hued effect. Truly inspired, these pencils go all day and all night."

So megsmakeup.com friends, family, and fans: Are these the best things since sliced bread or what?

P.S. Happy Holidays to all of you and all of your families. Love, Katie (And check back next week for my 2007 favorites!)

OK, I love the ease of application, the way it stays puts, like, forever, especially when I underline my upper lids, and the variety and beauty of the shades -- I got the VIP palette. I do have a question, though: is it only me, or do others find that no matter which vibrant color I apply, they all seem to resolve into the same darkish, brownish, blackish color by mid-day? 'Tis a puzzlement.

and glide they do! Not only are these little sticks of gliding pleasure soft and easy to blend but the color POPS!! They are bright, but not in an electric 80's way. I got the copper color, and the way I would describe it is: Cat Cosmetics' Smolder Stick's skinny little sister! You know, the prettier sister, the one with the good hair and the great fashion sense. Yup, that's what Urban Decay 's 24/7 Glide pencils are like. The other colors are gorgeous, but way too bright for my taste. Hopefully they will sell them individually one day.

these are wonderful! I just bought zero, and its staying power compares to my Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner. (This is important...since lugging around gel eyeliner with the requisite brush isn't exactly convenient.) But, since the consistency of the 24/7 is different than all my other pencil eyeliners, I was wondering if any of you have found a sharpener that works well with the 24/7? It didn't work too well with my Lancome sharpener. Thanks for the help!

I’ve been using and buying cream and gel eyeliners lately. I knew everyone here loved the 24/7 Glide On Pencils but had never tried them. I wish I had picked one up earlier! These little pencils (which are way less cumbersome for me) give me the look and feel of cream eyeliner with a much easier application. I received this pencil in Lust a “plush purple” that is surprisingly a very wearable color for my blue eyes. The purple is fairly deep and there is a black undercurrent to it (I think it looks darker on me than the picture on the site) so it isn’t too 80’s of a look. I’ve worn it for both daytime and nighttime use and have received compliments on it - Bunny noticed my eye makeup during second period of a Flyers game! She said it made my eyes look extra nice and blue! And as has been stated, this liner just glides on, is easy to smudge and work with. I dab a tiny bit of translucent powder on all of my eyeliners and haven’t had any smudging problems with it. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Bourbon and Gunmetal at my next trip to Sephora!

I tested zero and found that it was perfect for the times when I wanted to do smokey eyes. It glides on easily and smudges perfectly. It didn’t have the staying power that I get when I use my Smashbox liner.

UD 24/7 pencils are my ultimate favorite! I have 1999 (and it IS wonderful, all plummy and shimmery), bourbon, that copper one and covet. I must say I love them all! In all my years, I've tried just about every eyeliner - and I'm staying with these. You guys fostered this addiction so I hold you all totally responsible! And thanks so much, my eyes look fab!

A High Five and loud, prolonged applause for these pencils! I'd given up trying to use any eye liner because all the pulling and tugging of skin simply wasn't worth it to me. Then I tried my first Glide from Urban Decay, and it not only glides - it sails leaving color that lasts through rain, snow, sleet and gloom of night. Thank you, Urban Decay!

Is 1999 the purple? As in "party like it's". I'm lusting on that one big time, and I normally don't like me in purple. But somehow I feel this is going to the product to bring me to the purple side.

I have to agree, these are all that and a bag of chips! Nothing I hate more than an eyeliner that tugs and pulls at your lids. Not these! So silky smooth. I've got Bourbon, which has replaced MAC's Teddy as my go-to brown liner, and Covet, a metallic emerald green that is just gorgeous. These are my absolute favorite UD product!

Ok..Katie and Doll...I have 1999 and it's my favorite!!! The color looks so gorgeous on my brown eyes....it's sinful. I also have the bourbon(pure sex) and zero. They are the silkiest smooth liners ever...but...you're all gonna hate me for this...they do smudge on me. When I put them under my lower lid lash-line, they hardly ever stay on all day. Maybe it could be my moisturizer (caudalie contour cream eyes and lips)...the only other thing I use under my eyes is timebalm concealer. Help Me!!!

I love these babies! I got the pack of 5 travel size pencils for Christmas (Lucky, Zero, Covet, Electric, and Lust are the shades in the set) and I love them all. They are joining the Bourbon that has been one of my go-to liners. I will admit that they do smudge a little bit, but they last far longer than most pencils I have tried. I find that I have better luck when I put the pencil on then go over it with a Q-tip. If I REALLY need it to last all day, I'll break out the Benefit She-laq and it stays fresh all day, although I kind of like the "Walk of Shame" look that the Zero(black) liner gives when it smudges throughout the day. This is definitely an eye pencil that belongs in every girls arsenal.

I was in Sephora last week buying all sorts of things(some for me, some for others!) and I decided to ask the girlringing me up what her favorite product was in the store. Her response? The UD 24/7 liners! I said "really? I have friends who swear by them, but I have yet to try" and she told me they're a must have. I'm not a fan of waterproof makeup (my patience runs thin trying to get it off), but this is one cult I may join...thanks Kate. Oh, and Kate, extremely excited for your best of 2007!!! Can't wait!

~I've never really worn eyeliner before, (black and dark brown never did much for me) but after reading all the wonderful things about Urban Decay and seeing all the pretty colors, I decided I'd give liners another chance.  ~I really really like them.  I have 1999 (a plummy purple) and Covet (vivid, emerald green).  They are absolutely gorgeous colors!  I want more!  I'm lusting after Lucky (copper penny), Dime (like the coin) and a blue (I don't know which one yet).  I also want the eyeshadows and the deluxe shadows and the lipstick.  I'm a greedy, greedy girl! ~Anyway, unfortunately, they do not stay as long as promised on me.  I have oily lids and for some reason I can't keep eye makeup on as long as I would like.  But UD stays longer than some of the other stuff I've tried and has better and more pigmented colors.  ~So tell me, should I really really really try the UD primer potion?  Is it really that good?  I tried putting Smashbox photofinish primer on my lids and that didn't help at all.  :(  I didn't have smeared liner per se, but I had a perfect mirror image on my upper lid of what was near my lashline.  Would the primer potion make that much difference?

himekosorano, TOTALLY try a primer! I love Too Faced Shadow Insurance b/c it has about the same lasting power as UD primer potion (as in, I tried them, one on each lid, and they were nearly identical in terms of creasage), but it has way better packaging (people cut open the UD package to get ALL of the product out--removing the stopper lets you get a little more out, but that curvy packaging really rips you off). Also, maybe "setting" your liner w/just a bit of eyeshadow might help?

I LOVE these liners!  I have Rockstar and Gunmetal and I am lusting after many more shades.  The primer potion makes a HUGE difference with the 24/7 liners.  IMHO, you should really try it -- especially since you have oily lids.   ulta.com is offering a free Primer potion sample with any Urban Decay purchase. My UD shadows and eyeliners stay put all day and I attribute it to the primer potion.    I also love their lip liners too.   Currently seeking rehab for my Urban Decay addiction ;)

I have Bourbon (brown w/glitter) and it doesn't really show up that dark on my waterline, stays decently, but isn't the best eyeliner ever. I prefer Stila Smudgepots (which can be used on upper and lower lids, and waterline, with or without smudging), or L'Oreal HiP loose kohls (which also stay on my waterline FOREVER)

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say that I too love how well these pencils glide on.  They're wonderful!  I'm still in my 20s but I must have saggy eyelids or something because almost all pencil or liquid liners seem to drag and create a feathered line that's never smooth and perfect -- but these pencils work wonders.  I've only tried black and brown (Zero and Bourbon?), but I'd buy all of the colors in a heartbeat if they came down in price just a little.

I effing love these pencils for applying colour on the actual lashline or lids, but I find that they dont do anything on my waterline. I can live with that though, because you BARELY need to touch the pencil to your skin to get insane colour payoff :) I got Bourbon with my Get Baked palette and i use it pretty much every day for my neutral looks
