NO! NO! FABULOUS FRIDAYS!
Desertdoll brings you dream items every other week with Fabulous Fridays...
I’ve got a thing for gadgets. Honestly, I’ve got closets and drawers full of them. Plus my husband loves them too. So if I can pick up one for him on a shopping trip, it helps to soften the blow of multiple bags (“Oh honey, I know it seems like a lot. I needed all of it though. But look what I got you! An electric _______!”)
Of course, some gadgets get more use than others. My crock-pot? Love it! My fondue pot? Used it once. My electric ice crusher? Couldn’t have a party without it. My electric toothbrush? Banned to the guest room closet.
And how about hair remover gadgets? Anyone remember the Epilady? I bet it was the same at every house in the 80’s, it was used once and you probably can still hear the shriek of pain bouncing off the walls. Well, time to make way for something pretty revolutionary, the No!No! (which I received courtesy of the lovely Linsey).
I’ll explain it in the simplest terms (if you want the true science behind it all, check out their website) but first say that this process is painless. It’s all about thermal transference, in this case heat conducted through a very thin wire. This does 2 things: crystallizes the hair that is showing above your skin and produces a pulse that transfers to your hair follicle, destroying it over time so eventually, it won’t grow back.
And the destruction of the follicle is really what this tool is all about. It is more about reducing hair density than hair removal. Shaving is a lot easier. But, like clockwork, the hair grows back and you have to do it again and again. If you can put the time in with the No!No! you can slow this process down.
Honestly, there are a few cons for me. It’s time consuming and I’m not very patient. Also, the crystallized hair needs to be buffed off. I’m not quite at the point where I’ve mastered it so I haven’t gotten super smooth results. But like anything, practice makes perfect. Lastly, you can’t use it on your face, which is a shame.
But there’s a very big pro for me too. I can’t shave my bikini line. I get razor bumps. So waxing has been my only option till now. And that’s a pain, literally. And sometimes even waxing gives me similar trouble. The No!No! produces no skin irritation like in-grown hairs, red pimples, or rashes. There’s also no pain. That alone makes this worthwhile to me. And it sure makes impromptu trips to the beach a lot easier!
You have to be ready for a commitment with this. But if you really want to reduce the amount of hair you have or are plagued with any sort of skin problems that are a result of traditional hair removers, I think you’ve found you’re new favorite gadget.
Ladies, if you have questions, let me know! If I don’t know I’ll try to find out for you...

DD I wouldn't worry about me putting you out of a job! I love your reviews and comments! I forgot to put in the review that I think is worth mentioning-the fact that the no!no! uses heat to crystallize the hair, this should read in essence it "burns" the hair so sometimes you can get that icky burt hair smell. Not super bad but, can be a bit unpleasant and if live with people they might rush in to make sure you didn't have a tramatic straightening/curling iron accident. The smell usually occurs if you are working with longer hair and denser hair. I found that a quick wipe with a warm sudsy wash cloth gets the smell off my skin and just lighting a few candles can take care of the room...wasn't there are great review on candles a few days/weeks ago?
Oh my god, how can I forget that damn Epilady. My sweet Mom bought three of these one Christmas for me and my two sisters (cause God forbid we would share anything when we where teen-agers). I can still feel the pain from the first time I used one of those things and felt it catch and attempt to pull the hair from my leg. There must be a land fill somewhere, filled to the brim with all of the Epilady's that were used once and thrown away. Sounds like the No-No has a much better idea for getting rid of the unwanted hair (heat) as opposed to ripping it slowly and painfully from its root. But not usable for the face? That kind of sucks.
Thanks DD and Xanthurus for your reviews, I have been so curious about the NO! NO! and have been anxiously waiting to here some honest reviews on it. Like Chi Chi, I am less enthusiastic hearing that you cannot use this on your face, that is a bummer... The jury is still out on this one for me.
oh i totally remember the epilady!!! never used it myself, but it sure was popular. no!no!no! seems pretty cool, i only wish that they made it in a pen-like form for doing small areas like eyebrows. it sure would be nice not to pluck so much...
i too like everyone else wanted to no more about this little gadget....fortunately for me i didnt go through the epilady phase....and I'm grateful because it sure sounds horrible! But I sure have had my fair share of adventures over the years with things like EpilStop(burn-burn-burn!!), Hair remover creams(sting-sting-sting!!), Nads(ouch-ouch-ouch!!), among others. I guess my skin is too sensitive to all that plus those darn ingrown hairs..ugh!! This seems like just just the solution. I'm gonna have to convince someone to get me this for Christmas..hmmmm whos the likely catch..lol...i do wonder too though just how low can you go with this...you know in the unmentionable area? I know you mentioned bikini line but how far can you stretch that area?? I'm not talking brazilian but maybe teeny-weeny bikini maybe...??please let it be the answer to my bikini dreams so I dont have to go through the horrible skin torchuring wax..please!!oh and for those ladies using this on your legs just how "time-consuming" is it??are we talking lunch break or dinner and a movie??
I had my legs and pits and nearly everything else lasered so there is pretty much no hair left in those places. But I still want to do my bikini, but since I no longer work at a laser hair removal clinic I can't afford it! Plus laser hurts like a BIOTCH!!!!! And I am not talking about just the "bikini line," I want the whole she-bang done. I heard that No!no! doesn't advise using it on those parts. Do you ladies only use it on the bikini line (the area outside the undies/bathing suit) or have you tried the entire Brazilian treatment?
I've only done the bikini line. It's not really an area I want to not follow instructions, especially with heat involved!
I study fish (skip sentence if you have heard me beleaguer this point before)therefore this means lots of time in the water and more importantly lots of time in a swimsuit. I also have lots of body hair, while most of it is blonde and fine, my bikini line is like a jungle (sorry for the crudeness). This does not mix well with said time spent in a swimsuit. I have tried almost everything---shaving produces lots of razor burn and ingrowns, creams smell bad and can burn, waxing pain can be tolerated but there is that terrible grow out period. I even tried laser hair removal once but do not have the money for the "several" treatments needed, plus the terrible technician I very rudely said, "oh wow you really are very very hairy!" Gee thanks. So when I first saw the no!no! advertised at Sephora I was intrigued. It seemed to good to be true, no pain, ingrowns, reduces hair? I finally gave in and bought one (yes they are expensive $250ish). So far so good. No I am not a hairless wonder and there are some cons as DesertDoll mentioned. One thing I noticed first was how the instructions and video keep using the phrase "strong commitment"--this is a warning, results don't happen over night, they take some time. And using the gadget takes time too depending on hair type and density. Bikini line, I have to go over an area several times using the buff thing in between every few passes. And no I still haven't gotten that supper smoothness yet. But, for sparser areas it DOES remove the hair and I have noticed that the hair grows back slower than with shaving. Best thing is NO NO ingrowns! Always a plus. Sometimes I do feel a bit of a sting, but nothing much. Also a plus is that it works on stubble and short hair, no growing out, it even works better on short hair. I don't have the patients to try to do my legs, shaving works just fine for me, but I did test it out on my arm hair that while dense is fine and blonde and it worked very well there, with much less going over and longer lasting results. I guess that is about it, but I will continue to use and if you have any questions just message me. Sorry to write a really long review but I got excited that I actually knew about this product and could possibly give back for all the knowledge I get from everyone else at Meg's.
Hehehe...I remember the Epilady...back in college, I had a friend that used to love going to Thrift stores with me and once we found a shelf of NIB Epiladies (should have been a subtle cue). We laughed about how people said they hurt and being the dorks we were (are), we each bought one for $3 a piece. What followed is kind of hazy, but I seem to remember doing Lemon Drop shots and having an "Epilady-off". Alcohol makes lots of things seem like a good idea. I just remember waking up with a somewhat hairless right shin that was bleeding in spots. Good times. Then came Epilstop...yes, it got my legs hairless for a couple of weeks, but I contend that is only because it burned the follicles right off my legs and it took quite a bit of time for the skin to grow back. I looked like I had leprosy because I was missing patches of skin and I didn't even leave the stuff on the full amount of time. I'd love to try this, but as I'm still trying to talk the hubby into the Clarisonic skin care brush, I'm gonna have to accept myself for the furry little Ewok that I am. *pouts*
Oh my goodness, I still remember the pain that darn epilady gave me!! It was horrible. Thanks for the reviews on this. Like everyone else, I've been very curious to hear some honest reviews on it. Sounds like I'm on the fence too. I'll wait until they create one that can be used on your face before shelling out the big bucks.
Xanthurus-thanks for the fab review! You're going to put me out of a job though : ) Seriously though, well said and I agree with all of your points. Good luck to us both and our "commitment"!
Burnt hair? Buffing the bikini line? No on the face? How about the price - what is it? Hmmm - sounds not so great at any cost.
My mom had a "machine" simmilar to epilady and when I was 12 she convinced me that it didn't hurt whatsoever. Of course it did and I got scared of anything that would pluck my hairs out. I eventually gained courage and started to wax. After 2 years of waxing every month, I barelly have any hairs left on my legs, underarms and bikini line. I'd pass on the "hair burning" that traumatically resembles the epilady...
No!No!No! seems to have great reviews everywhere I have seen it reviewed. Does anyone know the cost of it? I'm still recovering from using Nair a decade ago. I can still smell the stench just writing about it!
this is the frist time i am hearing about this products thanks for the review

I am oh-so tempted to buy this!
@ kedavis03 - The price of the no! no! has gone down since I bought it for $199 - according to Sephora's website they are selling it for $125. I have to say that I really wanted to like the no! no! and gave it many, many chances, but in the end it just did not work as well as I was hoping it would. I think desertdoll's review was very good, and very fair. It is important to note that for many people, the no no does not remove all of the hair. For instance, I have very dark, thick leg hair and while it removes a lot of it, I still have to shave afterwords to get the rest. Also, it is important to realize that there is a significant burnt hair smell - enough to fill a bedroom and linger for 24 hours. And while I feel that I have gotten pretty good at using the device correctly and have not had any problems with it "burning" my skin, I have heard of a few people feeling a slight burning sensation (though nothing awful) every once in a while. I have actually found it quite easy to use, if time consuming, and for me it has been pain free. Huge plusses as far as I'm concerned. Lastly, if you decide to purchase one, do make sure to order new blades (they are not really "blades" in the traditional sense, but that is what they call them) & buffers well in advance of when you need them, as they seem to frequently be out of stock at Sephora and other places that sell them. In summary, if you are willing to put a significant time committment into learning how to use the no no correctly, use it often, & recognize that it will not fully remove all of your hair (though it will reduce it significantly), then it is certainly worth a try.
Same for me I cant SHAVE I WAX the BIKINI line what a torture it's so painfull !!!!!! I hope this will give me good results cause for 199 euros I don't want to be desapointed =)

thanks for this overview. i've always wanted to try this product. it is a bit costly but if i have the funds i will definitely give this a try. i'm not a fan of waxing so shaving is the only thing i do. this could be a better alternative.
Nice! the review was great!
Has anyone tried this on the pits? I hate pit hair - it's so itchy, and a way to significantly reduce it without doctor visits sounds fabulous.
