MAKING A SHOWER OR BATH AN EXPERIENCE! SATURDAYS AT SEPHORA!
Every Saturday Kate2004rock brings you the best of Sephora as only an insider can!
I was at a real loss for inspiration this week. It was suggested to me that I review some of the new Christmas ("Holiday" to be PC) sets. But I can't do it. I JUST CAN"T DO IT. I am firmly of the mind that Christmas (HOLIDAY) shopping season does not begin November 1. It begins the day after Thanksgiving. The pilgrims deserve some PROPS y'all. I mean they freaking starved for like a whole year in the dead of winter or something. I mean Squanto was all they had. They deserve the anticipation of the first three weeks of November. So I guess that really leaves me back at square one. Just kidding.
I have decided that I really do not give enough love to bath products. And there really are some fabulous-beyond-fabulous bath products for sale at Sephora.
First off, there's Bliss. I LOVE bliss! I love the Lemon Sage body scrub and body butter - that clean fresh smell. I'm not so much for the Vanilla Bergamot but I know some people really love it. The Plum Plum is divine as well. Plus they have the monster cellultie scrubber soaps. And there's usually some completely fabulous sets for the holidays.
Fresh also makes incredibly luxe looking, feeling, and smelling. They packaging is gorgeous. They make great gifts -- you know, for birthdays, St. Patrick's day and other Postal Service holidays. Their soaps are wrapped in these beautiful wall paper looking papers with a gem stone wrapped with wire. The body washes and matching lotions are just like velvet. There are also bath cubes which are definitely a different twist on the old "shower gel" routine.
Philosophy, I guess, is the obvious choice. I love the Tangerine and the Lemonade single note gels. And Senorita Margarita with the salt scrub is my absolute all time favorite. You can smell the tequila in it!!! Amazing. And I have to say that the Amazing grace as a scent has really grown on me. There's always great sets...in DECEMBER.
Also, for a great every day stable the Frederic Fekkai Shea Butter line also has body wash and body creams its scent is beyond divine. (If you're a fan of the Shea butter line for hair anyhow...I am!)
Other great staples: Caudalie shower gels and scrubs, Korres shower gels and lotions, and all the great scents of PTR Botanical Buffing beads!
Oh and P.S. Le Petit Marseillais are sold in drug stores in France and not really at Sephora but check them out because they're cheap and fabulous. Google it!

I just got the Philosophy Senorita Margarita scrub and used it for the first time a few days ago....it is so amazing! It left my body silky smooth! The neon green color is fun, and the tequila smell.....let's just say you feel like partying in the shower! Thanks for the recs Kate!
xanthurus - yay! i should have thought about checking the internet before, but i think i kind of liked the romance of being an international smuggler. and yes, i have sooo had that problem before! for instance, my ex was addicted to bath & body works (don't ask). he had this AWESOME smelling candle (guava and passionfruit i believe) that he would burn every time we..well..anyways! and now i totally abhor that scent. txtipster, i am going to have to raid the grocery store for runts now :) oh and DD, if you only KNEW the thousands of times i have seriously considered buying a ticket to greece just for a REAL greek salad...or JUST ONE DAY spent on the aegean sea...
I know a wise makeup, shoe, drink, music, antique loving woman who calls lollygagging wink wink, dating.
Oh that CremeBad comment DD, cracks me up! Yah, Shaft, I can dig it! Every time I use my Tarte Smooth Operator Foundation, I get singing Sade's song "She's a smooth operator, a ssmooooooth op-er-a-tor." If you go to Greece, anyone, please, take me! I seriously have a fantasy of Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) and me lollygagging on the coast of Crete... Ahhh!
Katie...where is that Sephora that's pictured? It's gorgeous!!!
i love bath stuff!!! i just picked up philosophy's cookies & milk shower gel sent, and tons of goodies from lush this week. i love lush's bath bomb because they're good for only one or two baths, so i never get tired of the same sent. the body shop is an old favorite too... the only soap & glory that i've tried is their foot cream, and i'm not very impressed. i like the smell, it reminds me of befefit's "touch me, then try to leave" cream, but i didn't think it was moisturizin enough.
Hey, they have a lotion version of the Nivea showe gel that's called "cremebad". Makes me think of the shaft theme song. "what's the creamiest lotion around that smells like milk and honey? (CREMEBAD!) Right on. You see this cremebad is a bad mother--(Shut your mouth) But I'm talkin' about cremebad (Then we can dig it)"
I have this image of 38/29 and DDoll skipping through the streets of Greece hunting Matt Damon the Smooth Operator while Shaft is playing in the background. You all make Mondays so much nicer!
I'm dying to try Soap and Glory! Totally cute packaging. Is it inexpensive? I have Orange Sherbert by Philosophy in my shower right now. So yummy. And I'm really eying the Red Velvet. I think Fresh stuff makes great gifts, the packaging is so beautiful. It's weird for me though, I hardly ever splurge on shower items (with the exception scrubs). I usually blow my fund on makeup, hair and skin care. There's a lot of nice drugstore lines. I love all the creamy oil washes that came out this year, Caress makes one. And they're all exotic scents combos that I go for (like sandalwood and jasmine).
Hey absinthe...I think you may be able to buy that Nivea Milk and Apricot wash here: http://www.smallflower.com/nivea/milk-apricot-shower-gel-250-ml-shower-g... ......i've also seen the Soap & Glory line at Target....will most likely break down and try something soon!
I know what you mean about not doing the whole X-mas thing till AFTER Thanksgiving, seems like every year I see decorations and holiday things earlier and earlier. I just want to get through Thanksgiving first.Olliebee got me Philosophy Amazing Grace Shampoo, shower Gel, and body lotion one year for my b-day and I LOVED it. I haven't tried any of the others, but now I really want too. I want to try this Cinnamon Buns I am hearing about, sounds yummy! And I got a free BLISS body butter for my Birthday from Sephora, it was the naked sent, so it did not smell like anything, but I would love to try a sented one since it was so creamy ans smooth, and my skin felt so soft when I used it....Plum sounds good....oh boy, I feel the urdge to shop!!
i am, of course, a massive fan of cinnamon buns (like everybody!) i also love banana from philosophy..it's more of a banana CANDY smell han actual banana. it smells like runts (do they still make runts?) anyways, my absolute favorite shower gel of all time is nivea milk & apricot. i have never seen it in the states, or in tijuana for that matter, and believe me i have checked!! i am forced to lug back like 7 bottles of it every time i go to greece. the customs agents probably think i'm a nivea smuggler or something. oh, but it smells sooooo heavenly! if they made a perfume that smelled like nivea milk & apricot i would absolutely die of happiness!!
DDoll, absolutely! Bunny and/or any one else game? Any Brad fans out there? ;) Kate, I must try the Caudalie Sauvignon Scrub and Fleur de Vigne body wash! I completely love their skincare line, and I bet their bath wash is magnificent!
I do love a shower gel. I save it to the end of my shower so I can savor it (and so I can let my HALO conditioner soak in a little longer. Right now I'm trying to finish Le Petit Marseillais in Lait de Coton et Coquelicot (Cotton blossom and cockelshell). And its so fresh and clean! My body scrub right now is the Bliss Lemon + Sage. Next I'm moving on to Caudalie Sauvignon Scrub and Fleur de Vigne body wash!!
Katie
I'm dying over DDoll's Shaft/Cremebad post...Cremebad IS a bad mother-- I say it again (I'm pretty sure I've said it already), DDoll---you are awesome. Bunny---Why Matt Damon? I love the randomness of Matt Damon. I enjoy you :)
Yay Katie....I love me some shower gels. I love philosphy cinnamon buns, Red Velvet Cake, Candy Cane(so invigorating), Hot Chocolate, of course Amazing Grace...i've had at least 10 of their body washes and I love all of the except the Berry Crumble one...yucky poo. I love the Bliss Magnolia scrub and body lotion. I also love Fresh- Pink Jasmine....ooh~La~La. It's very important to me to start my day off with a wonderful shower...helps me keep friends and I love using my body washes. It's just something that makes me feel really good...it's my private time. I have run out of body washes before and it seriously ruined my day. Being clean and smelling wonderful is something that overjoys my heart. I heart you katie!!!
Not sure if anyone has posted about this sale but the Body Shop is having a buy one get one free on select Holiday sets. I think I'll be picking up the Cranberry. The sale ends on Friday. It looks like Apple is having a good sale only on Friday if your shopping for electronics. Love the sales! I'll have to check to see if Bliss is having any sales cause I've never tried their products but every time I go into Target I visit the Soap & Glory display and ponder "should I try it?" Never have...maybe next visit.
I am currently, relentlessly obsessed with the Bliss Limited Edition "Snow Wonder" body wash and body butter. It smells just like clean winterness! So fantastic, I'm going to have to stock up before it all disappears. Last winter they had a champagnes scented body butter I believe it was called Spaaahkling or something like that. I really want to try it, have been checking on ebay lately. Other than that my shower looks like a philosophy boutique exploded. Red Velvet Cake, apple bubble bath, cinnamon buns. I have an addiction to bath products. They now have a cinnamon buns shimmer lotion that of course I had to purchase because I'm ill. (because obviously your scents have to MATCH right?) But go check out Bliss Snow wonder. I LOVE IT.
Has anyone tried the Soap and Glory drugstore line that is made by the same people from Bliss? I think you can only get it at Target. I tried the glow lotion and really like it, but they have lots of other yummy looking bath products and the packaging is adorable. I love Philosophy. Their scents are amazing. Really pick me up in the morning. They also make such great Christmas presents. I usually give these to all my teenage nieces. I would love to try the Fresh products. Maybe Santa is listening? I'll have to add it to my Sephora wish list.
DD the soap and glory stuff was a little pricer than your average drugstore product. The glow lotion I got was $9.99, but I think it was on sale. They are always sold out at my store, so I haven't gotten to try any of their other products. Absinthe...I love runts. Yes they still make them and banana is my favorite. I agree that Nivea lotion sounds so yummy. I wonder if you can find it online?
Ohhh, Philosophy was what got me hooked on Sephora. A few years ago, someone gave me the Cafe Au Lait shower gel/shampoo (seems weird for a shower flavor but it was actually good, very very yummy smelling). So I went to Sephora to check out other Philoshopy products (got hooked on Cinnamon Buns and Amazing Grace) and found that there was so much more tobe discovered! I don't have a nice shower gel in my shower currently (I went to the mall with the hubby a few weeksago and he went off in one direction and me in the other. When we met back up, much to my horror, he had come backwith THREE bottles of Bath and Bodyworks Warm Vanilla Sugar body wash saying he really liked the smell....so thatswhats filling up my shower) but I must get something I really love soon. I think I'll try some Bliss stuff, I'vewanted to for so long and haven't taken the plunge, but I think I will now. I've alsoseen Bliss gift sets at the Saks outlet.
Bliss bath products are fabulous! They never dry out my sensitive skin, which brings me quite a bit of joy. The hubby enjoys their beast bars of soap from time to time. I'm a huge fan of their Shock Therapy shower gel, especially in the summer. It's like air-conditioning in a bottle. The hubby had a pal from high school visit over the summer and the big bruiser actually tried to STEAL my bottle of Shock Therapy! Like, I went to take a shower and there was no shower gel in my shower...wtf???? I asked if he knew where my shower gel was and he made up some story about taking the bottle to write down the name so he'd remember to look for it...uh, sure...and it's in your bag, why? So it's easier to write down its name? Uh huh. Riiiiiight. Like Tasha, I'm a whore for Philosophy. I love almost all of their shower gels, with the exception of Egg Nog, which smelled like cooking bacon (ew) and the sinister Berry Crumble, which smelled like cat pee. A nice way to start with that brand is with the infamous Cinnamon Buns and work your way through all of the yummy scents. As for Fresh products, their Pink Jasmine scent is so wonderfully girly and I especially love their Lemon Sugar. I've been trying to convince the hubby that the Sugar Tart giftset wants to be mine... P.S. Kate---is that silver clutch with cheap samples THE holiday goodie bag??? I'm sad if it is *pouts*.
Bliss and Philosphy are so wonderful. I got hooked on Philosophy a few years ago, someone gave me Candy Cane for Christmas, I didn't like that scent so it forced me to go to Sephora and return it. I got a new scent and the rest is history. I love the big bottles, they last a long time. Bliss on the other hand does not last that long in my house, the hubby likes it to. He likes the smell since it's not overly girly and he says it makes him feel really really clean. I love Bliss. Olliebee, try the DianaB we reviewed a few weeks ago.
I tried and liked 2 items in the soap and glory line but for a little bit more money I'd rather have Bliss. Tha packaging is much cuter on the S&G line one of the bad parts is that it is hard to walk into the Target and find these products it's usually just an empty display. Like fatcat one of things I tried was the foot cream, wasn't spa like more lotion like. I love "Touch Me" but as a lotion not a foot creme. I also tried a Clean On Me, and wasn't overly impressed, it is supposed to have built in lotion but I still needed to lotion. Again I wasn't wild about the smell for a shower gel. There is a ton of new stuff being release 11/30 at Target stores, you can pre order on line now. I'm looking forward to trying other stuff.
I adore Bliss! The Bliss vanilla bergamot body butter is quite possibly my favorite of all bath and body products! Kate, can you still find the plum plum scent? I tried it a year or so ago and loved it, but it seemed to have been discontinued shortly thereafter! Fresh products are also amazing, and I love the Korres jasmine shower gel! I hope they make a jasmine body butter to go with it someday! Will have to try the Fekkai soon, thanks for the tips!
God, I'd love to go to Greece. One day I will. Know what I hate? When you have a signature scent and someone close to you starts to wear it to. I wore Angel forever, then a girl I worked with starting wearing it too. But too much of it. Totally ruined it for me. Same things with Versace Crystal Noir. 3 family members all wear it now. I guess it's a compliment, but find your own perfume bitches! Ok, I'm going to look for Milk and Honey...
38/29 wants to run around the beaches of Greece with Matt Damon. I'm just going along for the Cremebad! But maybe Matt will bring his buddy George, and I'll do some "lollygagging" too, wink wink. Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
Just checked on-line and Nivea Milk & Appricot can be found and bought over the internet-I have a feeling some of the stores are going to have a run on it! Sounds yummy! I loved philosophy coconut milk scent, but sadly my ex gave it to me and loved it too. Now I can't seem to enjoy it....does anyone else have that? I mean you get addicted to a scent but it is someway attached emotionally to someone or something so you have to give it up? HOWEVER all is not lost, I think that the Margarita scrub sounds delightful, probably much better anyhow
Woe is me... I'm stuck in the Victoria's Secret/ Bath and Body Works realm until...well someone treats me perhaps? :) haha... Yay for Katie who always does a fabulous, informative job!! Thanks honey.. for u know what!
Oh my god, Milk and Apricot Nivea? I love Nivea products!! That sound so freakin' yum, I may have to fly to Greece to get it! Which I guess, wouldn't make it such a deal. But I guess I would also get me some killer taramasalata while i was there!!
Bliss snow-wonder body butter (in the tube) is probably the single most amazing bath and body product I have ever tried. Now I know why people get so upset when they fall in love with a limited edition item and can't get it anymore!
I love Bliss's Vanilla bergamont. In fact, sephora has a two pack for $49. Oh how I wish I could afford this right now. But I just popped off about $600 in textbooks for school. So, I better hold off. (And I just ran out this week :( )
*~*AMY RENEE*~*When life hands me lemons, I'm opting for lemon pound cake!
I originally found Sephora because of Philosophy. Prior to that I could only get it on the Internet. I almost fell over when I went into JCPenney one day and there was a display of Philosophy...and what is this store "Sephora" Well, now I'm a regular fixture at this little store with so much wonderfulness.
Nice! the review was great!
