QUEEN HELENE MINT JULEP MASQUE! DRUGSTORE DEAL THURSDAYS!
Every Thursday Rachael Robbins brings you the best of her DD's.
Lately I’ve been living the life of a 20 year old rockstar dude. Wrecking hotel bathrooms all over NYC. Staying out til 7am. Drinking til I find myself face down in the gutter (figuratively speaking). Eating French fries with gravy at the diner before bedtime. Sleeping in my make-up. I’m hardly even getting hang overs any more, which leads me to believe that I am thoroughly saturated, thru and thru with vodka. Scary. I have my best friend from Australia here in NYC with me for 3 weeks, and we haven’t stopped the whole time. Concerts, shows, excessive shopping, dinner out EVERY NIGHT!! I practically have pneumonia, but I didn’t let that slow me down! I am pretty impressed with our debauchery (don’t worry, there has been no harm done to children, spouses, or small animals. And I’m pretty sure I haven’t gotten a tattoo yet).
And where I have not harmed any living creatures (Yet...she’s still here for three more days) , I have done a number on my skin! All the toxins are expelling themselves out for the world to see. My scarlet letter is in the form of: BLACK HEADS! PIMPLES! WRINKLES! And DULL SKIN!! I guess you can’t be in your 30’s and live the life of a rockstar dude without consequences. And mine are written all over my face. So now I need to address the issues. NO! Not my issues of partying like it’s 1999! But my skin issues. And what better then a great at home facial starting with a mask to suck up all that dirt and oil I’ve been collecting in my pores.
I have been trying TONS of new masks these days. Peel off masks, thermal masks, masks that make me look like a serial killer when I wear them. But I keep going back to my good ol’ stand-by: Queen Helene Mask in Mint Julep. I think this mask has been around since the ante bellum days, and that is because it is and oldie that actually is a goodie! You want to suck out blackheads? Skip those stupid biore strips! Just slather on some Queen Helene Mint Julep, let it dry and then BEHOLD!! The blackheads are gone! You want to dry up an ugly zit? Dab on some Queen Helene over night and you’ll wake up to a much smaller blemish, Use it on your whole face and the minty freshness gives tired skin a rejuvenated look. It smells yummy, is totally versatile and affordable. How can you go wrong?
Any other Queen Helene fans out there? What are your must-have drugstore masks?

I also have used and loved this product for years. It is so mint tingling good, and it cleans pores well, too!
This is a GREAT drugstore find! I have sensitive skin, so I'll just put a little in my T-zone when I go to take a bubble bath and it's dry by the time I'm done. I love this when my skin is out of wack and needs disciplined. That sounded way dirtier than I had intended. Like, Queen Helene is like, "Krista's skin, we're going to whip you into shape..." and my skin is like, "Yes, Mistress.". Yeah, I went there.
I love this mask! The price sooo good, but only beat by how wonderful it works. The minty smell is great because some masks I find have an awful smell or chemically smell, with this your nose isn't bothered while it sits. Afterwards my face feels refreshed and not super tight or dried out. Plus it has that vintage feel with it being a lovely green that is thick! I just don't feel as it the light colored, thin masks work as well, I know its a mental thing. Plus being green is a great way to frighten your neighbors and friends!
This stuff is great! I had been using Dermalogica's clay mask which worked OK. Idid like how the mask felt refreshing and how it got rid of some excess oil on my face, but I didn't like it enough to keep paying about 25 dollars for it. I bought this Queen Helene face mask on a whim when I saw it at CVS. It blewthe Dermalogica clay mask out of the water. Not only did this mask work better,it is a fraction of the price!
I use both this and Freeman Beautiful Face avocado and oatmeal purifying clay masque, right now I have the latter on.
Hey-This is a great product. I have used it for years and I know it was originally because it was so inexpensive. After one use you can see and feel a difference. I do have to admit I only use this when I am home alone in fear I would freak someone out-the color is horrid and when it drys and cracks it looks like a horror show. Dispite the looks, the smell brings you to the spa instantly. I love this mask! Rock On Rachael
I have always had my eye on this. You ladies have now confirmed that I must try it. Yesterday I tried the Juice Apple Exfoliating Peel and my face almost fell off. It was seriously red and burning all over. The pain and redness have subsided some. But it was terrible. I know that many of you ladies have had great luck with it. I must be allergic to something in it. Hopefully this mask will be much more effective and less scary for me.
I LOVE THIS MASK (or is it masque? whatever...) I've been using it for a few months and it does a really great job of sucking all the oil out of my skin and preventing pimples. You can acutally see all the oil that's pulled out of your skin. Once the mask is dried you'll see a tiny dark spot above each pore. That dark spot is the oil! It gives me this nice tingling minty sensation when I use it, which I find really relaxing and soothing. I have a bunch of more costly masks too (Estee Lauder, Clinique, Philosophy) but this beats them all. I apply it on clean skin. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Then rinse it off with water.
I have used Freeman Beautiful Face avocado and oatmeal purifying clay masque since I was in high school. Also makes you a happy green color and terrifies your spouse. Cheap cheap and not tested on animals!
i too have used this...oooooo a long time ago! It did work great and now that I think about it i'm trying to remember why the hell i stopped using it in the first place!!...hmmmm. I think it may have been that i thought maybe more expensive was better(since then ive spent who knows how much on other junk!)....funny thing is i was trying to save up to get that philosophy microdelivery peel but i just might forget that whole idea and go back to my tried and true Queene Helene:)we'll be like long lost lovers..lol...just kidding;) thanks for the flashback Rachael!
I really like this mask too. It's a great price and helps my oily skin. I love that it's green and the smell is great! I love putting this on and getting into a bubble bath:)
I can't believe after all these years of reading about this mask, I haven't tried it! I'm going to rush to the nearest drugstore and find this!
I finally picked up a tube of this based on some recommendations of the Megettes. Wow, it really tightens pores, smells great and feels so tingly good on my skin. It is not too drying on my combination skin. And, you can't beat the price!
I think that every one should deff try this..I bought it at a family dollar store for $2.50

Ya know I'm just not crazy about this mask. I tried it a few times and it was just too intense for me. I prefer making homemade masks, but my favorite pre-made mask is the one from Pangea Organics. It's one of my favorite products on my profile! Check it out!
I like using it just to see the black spots. LOL. Seriously, this is a great mask and if I feel oily, or need refreshing, this does hit the spot. It does work as well or better than many of the higher priced masks.
I LOVE this product. It was the first face mask I ever bought due to reviews I read on the internet, and it's actually still the only one I use (unless my Clean&Clear Clean Pores Cleanser/Mask counts). It's ridiculously cheap, and it WORKS! It makes my face look absolutely fab afterwards, even if my family loves to call it my "monster face" when I have it on.I think the best thing about the color is that you can SEE it work, and sometimes that's worth more than the physical effects :) LOVE.
xoxo
oh i love this mask, i just got it, used it once so far but it did a really great job! i ad the brown mudd mask one before it, but i like this one better, seems to draw more out i think. It is so cheap too, i love that. What other drugstore things do i use and love... CETAPHIL! i love it, it has really calmed my skin down since it is really gentle - it is also really cheap.. yay!
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
all i can say is that i love this stuff & so does my bf. i used it on him a few times & i can see that his pores were getting a bit smaller.

i'm not really into the whole mud masque but when my sister bought this at a local drugstore...she finally got me to try it. i really like this stuff. and the product is not expensive either which is a big plus. i am now a fan of masques! i probably do it 2 times a week.
Im in NYC this month so I will definitely be searching for this product ASAP!
i love this stuff! it really makes such a difference after using it on my face. i start with oily dull skin and after taking off the mask, i have such a clean glow! helps with the oilies so much! i probably use this mask once a week and dab some on blemishes to leave on while i sleep.

I love this stuff, but unfortunately I bought it in the tub because that's what was on sale. I would prefer the tube instead, because I feel like it gets germs in the tub when I stick my fingers in there (even though my hands are clean). But the product itself is pretty great. I only use it about once every other week.
I simply love this stuff. It makes me feel so fresh and rejuvenated. My face is significantly softer with smaller pores. Must have in my opinion.
that looks awesome! i really wanna try it!

i really like all the queene helene masks, esp. the grapeseed one. it's great. and it makes me want to eat more grapes.
