YES TO CARROTS - GREEN CHI TUESDAYS!
Hey everyone, it’s Chichi with another Green Chi Tuesday. This week, we’re saying yes, yes, yes to vegetables and all the good they do for your body and skin. Specifically, we’re taking a look at the exciting new line Yes To Carrots. This Paraben Free line of face, body and hair care combines vitamins and minerals with juices from the 'orange color' produce groups and Dead Sea Mud...to help cleanse, detoxify and mineralize the skin naturally.
As a vegetarian for over fifteen years, I have learned to love and appreciate my vegetables. It was a long road however; like most kids, I turned my nose up at any green on my plate. One of the only veggies I would tolerate was the lovely carrot. What’s not to like? The bright color, sweet taste and satisfying crunch won me over. Every Mom that I know has a bag of snack sized baby carrots in her refrigerator for her little ones.
I had one friend, who was on a health kick and turned to the baby carrots at all times. Need a side for dinner? A late night snack? A mid-afternoon pick-up? Baby carrots it is. Eventually (I swear this is true) she noticed that her skin was taking on an orange tint. A little research showed this was from eating too many foods that contain orange-colored beta-carotene. It clears up in a few days once you lay off those addictive baby carrots.
No worries today, because instead of eating our carrots we will be slathering them on our skin. The very generous Paul of Yes To Carrots sent megsmakeup.com an array of items to test. They are all good for you and full of Beta-Carotene, which is well known for its anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties and Dead Sea Mud known for its world-renowned detoxifying properties...which are known to improve cell metabolism and stabilize the moisture content of the skin. Hey, if it was good enough for Cleopatra, it’s good enough for me! Our panel will be reviewing:
C THE DIFFERENCE EXFOLIATING AND SOOTHING MASK - This mud mask tones, revitalizes and purifies the skin leaving clearer, tightened skin. The box states it is best for Dry to Sensitive skin, but my oily skin loved it too! A light application to the face, rinsed after one minute, soaked up all the excess oils on my face and left soft, clean skin behind. I really like the dense property of this mask - it helped for a mess free application without any drips into my eyes or mouth while waiting for the magic to happen!
FEEL THE C PAMPERING SPA MANICURE This little beauty is like a sugar scrub for your hands! Just stir the jar (filled with carrots, fig, jojoba, almond and olive oils) place about a teaspoon in your hands and gently massage, concentrating on your cuticles and nail bed area. The dry patches and flaky skin are exfoliated away and you are left with smooth, glowing hands. I’ve used this on my feet and elbows before a shower and it works really well on those extra dry spots.
C THROUGH THE DRY-SPELL BODY BUTTER This luxurious, extra dense body butter is going to help get me through the winter. I love the light, clean, creamy scent that never works against my perfume. The rich butter soaks into my skin and the glow it leaves behind lasts all day. After just a few days of use, my dry elbows and hands have vastly improved. My skin is smooth and the flakes are gone! This rich cream will be ideal for all-night treatments in the dead of winter. I’ll slather this cream over my hands and feet, don cotton socks and gloves and wake up to soft, glowing skin!
Finally, one of the best things about the Yes To Carrots line is that it is so affordable. Right now, the line is carried exclusively through Wal-Greens. If you order now through their website, you can take $2.00 off any Yes To Carrots product. Just enter the promo code deadsea at checkout.
So ladies, please let us know what item you received for review from Yes To Carrots and if you found a delicious new way to feed your skin!

Glad to be of help micah! Love your name - very pretty. Check with the counter person at Walgreens - they might have coupons like jaybays sister!
Indianafarmwife...I had to walk the local Walgreens beauty area twice before spotting Yes to Carrots. It was sort of hidden in a corner shelf area next to the register. They didn't have a lot just a few of each product. A small display so I'm not sure if they've put it on the shelves and I just missed it?
The cooler weather is just around the corner in my region and I've been looking for a new lotion/body products. I'm so glad to see this post! I'm definitely picking up the spa hand set. I get dry flaky skin around my nail bed and this sounds perfect. Also, I just need to brag a little since the Target in my city just opened last night. I've never been to a store at the initial opening. It was a little piece of heaven. Everything looked clean and perfect...rows and rows of consumer nirvana! (Desertdoll...I hope you get one close to you soon:)Plus, they have a nice extended line of really good products like Burt's Bees, Sonia Kuska, etc. My last stop was at the Starbucks for a small cup of love(coffee, not blood, runs through my veins). No more driving 40 minutes...gas money will be spent on beauty...so happy!! I'll have to check to see if they carry Yes to Carrots. If not, our Walgreens is a great spot for goodies too!
I first saw these products on hsn and was very interested. So, after that I was in search for them and stumbled upon them in walgreens. I have even had the lotions in my hand, but never bought any. So, after reading all the good reviews I am going right now to go and buy them. Thanks for being so current about all the new products coming out, because I really wanting to know about carrots.
Aw IFW, too bad about the lack of the Manicure treatment but hooray for the Body Scrub, I'll have to try that next. By the way, I love your old school film avatars!
I FINALLY scored some Feel the C Spa Pampering Manicure. I’ll have to say I was kind of disappointed at first, because I felt like I’d taken 60-grit sandpaper to my hands and followed with a slathering of oil. Then I taped drywall. (I did spring drywalling this year instead of spring cleaning.) Maybe I used it wrong on the first try, but it doesn’t really matter. I’ll be keeping a jar around for getting rid of drywall compound, gardening residue and any other filthy bit that leaves you looking for GoJo. NoMoGoJo, cause I’m Feeling the C!
Desertdoll, Imidazolidinyl urea is a preservative with broad spectrum of application, which is effective against bacteria, fungi and yeasts.Imidazolidinyl urea is the second most identified cosmetic preservative causing contact dermatitis according to The American Academy of Dermatology. Imidazolidinyl urea is a formaldehyde-releasing preservative used in many cosmetics, toiletries, lotions and pharmaceutical preparations and is often found in preparations labelled as ‘hypoallergenic’. However, if you have sensitivity to Imidazolidinyl urea, these products are far from hypoallergenic and should be avoided, as it will cause dermatitis. Try to avoid other formaldehyde-releasing preservatives also known by the following names: Quaternium-15, 2-bromo-2nitropropane-1,3-diol, diazolidinyl urea
Impulse buy well worth while! I have to say I'm at walgreens often.. way too often this month..Halloween and all and all the lovely BLACK products abound.. so I bought this and WOWI got the manicure and my hands have never felt better!!!I then bought the night-time moisturizer and it's also really lovely. Smoothing and smells great!on a side note... I'll only eat carrots once a month now.. if I turned orange I think I'd bury myself.
I got the pampering spa manicure, which Chi described perfectly-except it's a dead sea salt scrub (not a sugar scrub). This is a really decadent item, I loved it. I've been using it twice a week. All the oils are really helping to moisturize now that it's getting colder. It's great to work into your cuticles too. And I've been using a spa technique with it too, rather than wetting my hands and adding soap to wash it off I use a good amount of liquid soap and bulid a lather BEFORE adding water. So you get a a really lush lather. I wish there was a bit more scent would be my only complaint. Otherwise, I really like this!
My Walgreens didn’t stock all of the YTC product - not surprising in a town of 18,000. The woman who manages the cosmetics section had a nice little display by the door as well as the shelf stock. She had just been to a YTC seminar a week or two earlier - and also loved the Spa Manicure, so I’m pretty sure they’ll stock some eventually.
I saw the word "Walgreens" and thought !Near-instant-gratification! (The closest Tar-jay is an hour away. If I have a cosmetics emergency, my choices are WalMart, CVS, and Walgreens. period - so tragic) Alas, my Walgreens shopping extravaganza was not quite what I had envisioned - no Pampering Spa Manicure. So to alleviate my abject disappointment and compulsion to shout obscenities, I purchased the Moisturizing Body Scrub. I can’t say much on a single try, but unlike other scrubs I’ve used, this product did not leave me feeling as though I’d either washed in olive oil or walked through a sand storm. No evident residue on the shower floor, either. Just smooth and soft skin. Like Mr. Bunny Rabbit on Captain Kangaroo - Say YES to Carrots!
Did I read on here that someone said they saw Kiehl's at Target? That has made my Target envy fly off the chart. IFW, our towns sound very similar. Change out your CVS with a Rite Aid and those are my shopping options too. Which is why I think I'm such an insane (and talented) shopper. I can find things to buy anywhere. I filled up a basket at Auto Zone this week. BUT, my Walgreen has a whole organic section. I guess I'm pretty lucky. Weleda, Alba Botanicals, Jason, everything Yes to Carrots makes, a GIANT Burts Bees section. I guess the hippies of Joshua Tree demand it.
I received the spa manicure and what a god sent this has been! This past weekend I did one of those house cleanings where you pull everything out, clean in places where it’s hard to get to and all of those other awful things I hate about cleaning my apt. Of course during all of this cleaning I forgot to wear gloves. My poor finger and hands were so dry they were sort of hurting. Sunday night I used the spa manicure and I can’t tell you how healing it was to my hands. It removed the dry skin and really put the moisture back into them. My cuticles have a tendency to be dry and since using this product that’s not the case anymore. Hope perfect is it that you can buy this at Walgreen’s and the price is right! Oh DD thanks for the liquid soap idea, I’m trying it tonight.
Pammie, what's urea? Why do I have a feeling it's somthing yucky? I don't even care. if I could rub liquid Emu fat on my face (dremu oil) I can rub whatever this is on my hands....
you don't have to be afraid of urea. however, it is a synthetic version of the urea that is dirived from animal urine. it is the most common perservative found in "natural" products. i'm gonna have to check out this product, it sounds great! does anyone know if they test on animals?
I also tried the Pampering Spa Manicure and LOVE it!! It's really easy to use with fast amazing results! And very affordable! I let my Mom try it and she went out and bought some for all the gals in the family!! She has very dry hands and has tried every hand cream/ treatment underthe sun.. She said she felt immediate results with this! I agree. I've been using itbefore I go to sleep and waking up to super soft hands!! And after a lot of cleaning around the house this is nice to use after you wash your hands.. you really feel like you've been spoiled! It does wonders around the cuticles if you rub it in and when your done just pat your handsdry and admire the results!! I loved it so much I went and got the body wash. Which I also love.It makes the best fullest bubble bath!! Smells fresh and really leaves your skin soft..So this Lily says YES!!!!! to these Carrots!
Right now, Walgreens has these products buy one get one 50% off. I picked up the body mist and the body butter. I'm going to use the mist to set my makeup in the morning. The initial try seems to work well. It smells nice and light. The body butter is a great consistency. Thick but easy to smooth on(I have a Olive body "butter" by Palmers that is ridiculously hard and difficult to smooth on...I rarely use it). It's not too greasy either. I'll probably use this at night as a hand cream. The smell is very light too.
just an fyi-- the Say Yes to Tomatoes mud mask is also amazing. I broke out really badly 2 days ago and the mask is doing wonders to clear up my face! I love the "Say Yes" brand and have had nothing but great experiences!
I liked the C PAMPERING SPA MANICURE too. I was surprise how long the sugar remained anddid not desolve..My hands are hard working to say the least and badly needed this.. I just mixed the jar with a plastic spoon. I liked the smell too. it's loaded with carrots, fig, jojoba, almond and olive oil. I only used about a teaspoon in my hands and gently massaged away all the rough skin leaving my hands smooth and glowing. Only improvement to this product would be that the container be made with a seal to assure no leakage!
Wasn't me desertdoll....I'm pretty sure the new target in my town doesn't have Kiehl's but I did sort of rush through it. I'm going next week to snag a bissell steamer. I hate to clean but I love to have good cleaning tools when I do clean. I'll have a leisurely stroll throught the beauty section just to be sure (it would be great if they do!), then pick up my steamer:)
off the subject sort of, Greenie told me she was feeding her kids too many carrots because they were turningorgange and I told her she was insane. Oops! Sorry greenie!
I got the "C the Difference" Exfoliating and Soothing Mask for Dry to Sensitive Skin. I agree with pamelairene that this has a wonderful smell, but I absolutely cannot recommend this product. It made my face feel more dry, itchy, and it made me break out. I used it several times a week apart each - and it had the same effect each time. This mask is SOOOO not suited to sensitive skin - which it says it is specifically for. I will stick with my $100 plus mud masks from the spas, thank you very much. This is very much a case of "you get what you pay for" for me.
Hey fatcat - don't worry, Yes To Carrots does not test on animals. Now you're free to run out and get your own!
I was in Walgreen's this morning here in northern Illinois and saw they had just put 2 new Yes to Carrots gift sets on the shelves. I bought it because it was 8 full-sized products for only $39.99! Usually each of these products is like $15! It has day, night and eye creams, a mask, the famous body butter, the exfoliating facial cleanser, hand cream and make-up remover. What a score! There is also a smaller box with 3 products and a free t-shirt (white, not orange;-) which I think was about $20.
Hi -- I have to agree with you! I came across Yes to Carrots about 6 weeks ago on a trip to Walgreens. I got the shower gel, body butter and hand and elbow cream and spa manicure. (I'm a sucker for body products...) I LOVE THEM! The scent is pleasant but innocuous. The shower gel lathers incredibly well and leaves my skin feeling soft and supple after rinsing. The spa manicure/hand cream combo is AMAZING! The hand cream absorbs incredibly well, never greasy, AND, the softness lasts all day long, even after washing my hands. I don't know how they do it, but they have managed to create products that hydrate incredibly well without ever leaving me feeling greasy. I agree with your review of the body butter, and I would also add that I love that for such a rich cream, it absorbs well and I don't have to spend so much time making sure to rub it all in, like with other rich body creams. I would highly recommend! By the way, my sister told me that she got a $2 coupon from the Walgreens beauty counter in the store.
thanks chichi!!! i'm off to walgreens....
I purchased the c-body butter and I love it. My skin so soft. Which by this time of year it is starting to flake and look so scaley. So, thanks again to the great review because without this product I don't know how much money I would have paid to find something that works. But now I don't have too!!!
This product is one of those products that you have to be careful because alot labels have the word natural but if you look at the ingredients it proves all the contrary. This product have parabens in it which are link to cancer. Therefore it is not natural...but i guess it stills makes for a good product...aside from the fact that it labels is lying.
Yes to Carrots is an excellent product. I regularly use the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, night and day cream and mud mask. However, everyone seems to be forgetting the best part about this product: It claims to be cruelty free and not tested on animals. I contacted PETA to confirm this and the company said that it was not tested on animals, but has not as yet signed the confirmation for PETA to put them on the list of recommended products. I am no longer purchasing L'Oreal products, as they definately test on animals.I love the richness of the face creams without the oiliness, and absolutely loooovve the fragrance. I am going to buy the hand spa cream next.
Hey Doll it was me about the Kiehl's at Target. I think they might be testing out the demand first though. I don't have it at mine but they have it at one 30 miles away. Like when Bath and Body and Target first started with Fekkai they didn't have it everywhere. After they found that it sold they put it in all stores. Well almost all I think Kate said they don't have it at hers. I'm sure HOD is very happy you don't have a Target or a Sephora near you.
I was pleasantly surprised to find how gentle yet effective this product was on my sensitive skin. Unlike so many masks, my skin did not get feel overly dry nor itchy! It was left very soft with my pores feeling very clean. I have used it 3 times this week and my skin already looks so fresh and clean- It lost that stressed-out look that it can get too! This is a fantastic facial regimen that is a must have. I also loved the smell -very pleasant. My husband of 20 years said that my skin looks great. Say what? It doesn’t’ always look great!??? Anyway, you know this has to be a great product! If I could only describe his face when I come waltzing out with a mask on-. Oh man, what we look like can be quite frightening! I also like that the ingredients are so pure and all natural.. down to the urea! No kidding.. Here are the ingredients: Silt (Dead Sea Mud) and (Dead) Sea Water , Spring Water and Carrot Juice , Pumpkin Oil , Carrot Seed Oil , Kaolin , Zinc Oxide , Glycerin , Olive Oil , Jojoba Oil , Chamomile Oil , Avocado Oil , Almond Oil , Magnesium Chloride,Fragrance, Rosemary Extract , Niacin , Ginkgo Biloba Extract , Aloe Vera Gel , Propolis Extract , Vitamin E , Imidazolidinyl Urea
The creams are fabulous, I've tried the entire line of YTC, I especially love the body butter, but the shampoo/conditioner leaves my hair so soft and clean it's amazing, you should definitely give it a try. The hair/scalp mud mask is a treatment you put on your hair after towel drying and leave it on for 25 mins or so, rinse off and you won't believe how soft it makes your hair. I am a senior beauty advisor at Walgreens and I love this line.
I seriously don't know how you girls survive without a Target nearby. Mine is about 5 minutes away and I'm there at least once a week. This line sounds very nice. I heard about it a few weeks ago and have been wanting to try it, but just haven't made it to Walgreens. I'll have to make a special trip and get me some goodies. And yes kids do turn orange from eating too many carrots. My little one used to looove carrots and started resembling an oompa loompa when he was a baby. It looked like he had a really bad fake tan.
Oh NO!!! you have fed my addiction, now i feel the need to get the line of products and feel the results that you spoke of! I really do need to get a full line to keep my routine in check. Thanks for the great scoop on this I will be sure to go and check it out :)

The story of your baby carrot-addicted friend reminds me of a story my mother has always told me growing up...apparently I had the same issue as a baby. I refused to eat anything but carrots, squash, pumpkin...I, too, started to turn. She thought perhaps I was jaundiced and rushed me to the doctor who simply asked her "Has she been eating a lot of orange and yellow vegetables?"..well, yes, I had. Nothing but. I was an orange skinned-baby with a haze of orange hair(that part not from the veggies)...I have tried the Yes to Carrots lip balm. I like it. It's not waxy and leaves my lips feeling supple and lovely, and not too heavily scented or full of artificial tastes..It's a nice lip balm, and I would definitely buy it again. What I've tried more thoroughly is the Yes to Tomatoes line. I have used both the body wash and body butter. I LOVE both of them. The wash is very moisturizing but without leaving a sticky film. The scent is also very light and refreshing, slightly sweet, but not overly so. The body butter is very rich, but lighter than most with a fluffy texture that takes a while to soak in, but it's well worth it! It also has a lovely scent..All in all, this is definitely a drugstore brand that I would continue to purchase. I'm also very interested in the shampoo and conditioner, but haven't gotten up enough courage to buy it. If anyone else has tried it (carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, any of them!) let me know what you think!
I recently purchased the C Through The Dry Spell Body Butter. It's weird that even though I have oily/combo skin on my face, my body is very dry! This is a great moisturizing body butter! It's creamy and makes my skin ultra soft! My only complaints is that it is a tad greasy before it completly absorbs in. Also the smell is a little off putting. It's not entirely STANK, but not exactly sweet & pleaseant to me. So I just make sure I have some body splash/spray to spray on after I apply the body butter. All good!I love that this is something I can easily go to Target & pick up. I think it was on sale for around $12. And you gotta love that it's made up entirely of natural ingredients!

i will try this but like to eat fresh fruits and vegetables.
I've only tried the shampoo from this line and I didn't like it. I've been keeping my eyes open for the skincare line but I've never come across it.
the body butter does miracles on my dry skin. i would definitely recommend that :]
Would like a hold of this, never really owned creams for manicures, but don't know if it will smell very nice though.
Love this company!
I like the body butter, but not the spray so much.
emilysmakeupbox.blogspot.com
I have their day cream. It's light and smells good.
I really have been wanting to try the exfoliating and soothing mask. I deffinatly need something for my face. It's so dry! I'm thinking I need a good moisturizer because my face is becoming combination skin more so than normal as it used to be. It's dry on my chin and cheeks- like so dry last time I put on my coverup/foundation it was a burning/stinging feeling! But my forehead and nose area is really oily. I'm still debating what would be best to put on it without irritating my skin or having it break out. Damn these dilema's.

that looks awesome! i really wanna try it!

Nice review!
or you could just eat carrots. the beta carotene helps eyes and helps repair your skin.
