OPI NAIL POLISH-RUSSIAN NAVY!!
This is a RANDOM TANDEM MEG THOUGHT . Sometimes things pop in my head and I want to discuss so here it is.
Do you ladies remember the Chanel Vamp nail polish craze? I am proud to say I saw it coming and being the Chanel freak I am had a coveted bottle. It was the adult Cabbage Patch kid and I wore it to death in the height of it's craze. I wore it so much I used all of it, this while it was so hot and every fashionista was still sporting it. I went to my local Filene's and slipped the Chanel counter girl a $20 to let me have the Vamp tester out on her display. Alls fair in beauty trends. Eat or be eaten or something.
I had yet to be crazed for a nail trend until I saw an editorial picture of a model wearing OPI RUSSIAN NAVY. Oh boy, I could feel in my witchy premonition bones that this was going to be fall's hottest color. My intuition did not steer me wrong. I went to my favorite nail salon and yes, they were out of Russian Navy. I decided to let my creativity rule this unfortunate situation. I had my manicurist first paint my nails black, let the color seep in and then apply a regular blue. It was navy, I was fine, but it still wasn't the Russian Navy I longed for.
I had to make 2 different trips to two different beauty supply stores. I bought the last 2 bottles of the Russian Navy. I carried my own bottles, Thank-you-very-much into the salon not willing to be shut out of fall's destined trend.
I love it, I love it like back in the day when I loved Vamp. It's sexy, it's naughty, it's sophisticated and it plays hard to get. What more could a girl want?
Also, everyday-seriously, a compliment comes on my new nails. Mark my words, get your hands on a bottle of Russian Navy now!

I also loved this color when I saw it and am glad that dark colors are going strong for the fall. I am wild about the dramatic look the give in contrast to my super pale skin. I have been having a little trouble finding it in my usual OPI hunting grounds and turned to buying it online and now just have to wait for it to arrive.
That color is so me...I'm going shopping! :D
I scored this polish at a salon at the local outlet malls several weeks ago and it's so freaking pretty! It's not boring, either, it's a multi-dimensional navy/purple/vivid blue. I don't usually paint my nails, but this went on very neatly and lasted almost a week once on (the secret is to put on a new clear coat EVERY night before bed) On the down-side, this wore so well that it's a pain in the tuckus just trying to get it all off my nails. My hands look like I've been working under the hood of a truck.
iowa has only 2 chanel counters??????? wow. do you have sephora?
Ok, I feel like I have been missing something for not ever getting my nails done in the vamp color that everyone is talking about. I am going to get them done inRussian Navy and I can't wait to feel sexy and naughty,a nd sopistocated ;). I always wanted to do the whole "vamp" thing with my nails, but was too chicken back then when I was so young, now that I read these posts, I know I was missing out ;). Russian Navy, here I come!Oh, my friend (MALLYCAT) is a manicurist, and she got me "Affair in Red Sqaure"for my b-day, it is a beautiful red, I LOVE IT! And would recommend it for Fallas well :).
Totally love the shade! I can't wear it on my fingers this week because the Gods of Corporate Evil are in town, so I have toe be all professional and weird stuff like that! LOL Actually, I'm usually pretty professional at work, but I have a reputation of being one of our odder employees. But my toes are looking lovely! I've even shared it with my 11 year old, who's a bit gothy too. She says she's trying to be an elegant Goth when she grows up.
Had vamp and drained the bottle dry. Got Lincoln Park at Dark when it came out and then Lincoln Park at Midnight and then when the new OPI Russian line came out, I RAN to Ulta. The Ulta closest to me has a huge supply of new colors - they will probably never sell out of this past summer's Australian OPI line. I am currently wearing Cosmo Not Tonight on my fingers and Siberian Nights on my toes. Next pedicure is Russian Nights and my manicurist likes that color over one of the deeper shades so that it really reflects the blue. Since she is Romanian, I think I will let her eastern european flair take over! I also have a bottle of Affair In Req Square and I think I will be using that on the fingers as we head into October. Great shade for the holidays, too.
I ran over to Ulta and bought this today 1) because i wanted it, 2) because I wanted to see if Iowans really are as fashion ignorant as I think they are (yes). Sure enough, I got to Ulta and there must be 20 bottles of Russian Navy. Two Russian collection displays worth and several in the regular display. Iowa may be boring, but if you are one of the 5 of us that reads the fashion mags, you can usually find what you want without a problem. When everyone was ranting and raving about that famous Boots Restore and Renew Miracle Serum that was sold out everywhere, sure enough my local Target had several. Boots what? I've heard Chanel's Tulip Noire is pretty hot this season, I'm thinking about checking out one of the state's TWO chanel counters to have a peek. Oh Iowa!
i saw this at the beauty supply store yesterday and considered it, but ultimately decided on a shimmery chocolate brown from a cheaper nail polish line. i will probably go back and get it. i am LOVING the black polish trend and this looks like a fun twist..i also want a nice deep violet.
I just bought the last bottle of Russian Navy in Memphis. Ok...in the Memphis mall that I was at. So there! It is HOTTTTT

I have "Not really a waitress" on my toes right now and "Hearts & Tarts" on my fingers. :)

Oh DDoll you put back all the polishes and bought a gloss? Honestly I don't know how you can remember the glosses you own vs. the ones you don't. Have you ever bought a duplicate by accident?
FYI,There was about 15 bottles of this at my local Ulta today. One is now mine.
I have to go buy this!!
thank you meg's makeup! my russian navy is ON ITS WAY! :) yeah, in ja u gotta wait a while for everything...
I totally agree with "loving this shade of polish!!!" I first saw OPI's Summer-deep blue "Ink" while in LA In June and couldn't find a bottle to save my soul.bought 3 when I got back to Texas,it's a bit "sparklier" than "Russian Navy" but got me wearing and loving the deep blues! When I saw the same ad,I ran to the store and they had just gotten the "display unit" in so I bought all of the navy and also the deep burgundies..I know...evil of me but I honestly do believe that within a month, the stuff will be impossible to find and I wanted a couple of bottles for gifts too.I was ON that waiting-list for "Vamp" and although it sounds silly, there are reasons some "shades" reduce us to beign such maniacs..it's those "little things" that can make you feel extrordinary and like YOU are on the catwalk even if you can only afford a new bottle of polish!Find this shade, give it a whirl, and enjoy the first crisp breeze of Fall!
OPI's Light My Sapphire or last years Chanel Black Satin w/Nailtini Blue Flame on my fingers for me. I usually don't do really dark colors on my toes. Once sandal season is officialy over :-(, I live in PA it's not possible to wear open toed all year. Well, I suppose it's possible but you may not have toes the following season due to frostbite. My fall toe color will probably stay as orangy based brights, maybe some OPI Root Beer Float no longer sold, so sad. But for winter I will use Mac RougeMarie, this is a close to Vino as I could find and maybe some Chanel Shanghai Red, I bought it early in the summer, tried it once and thought it be best for winter around Christmas/New Years.
Iowa is kinda low on the luxury goods. Lol. We got a Sephora this past April and it was super exciting. But there is only one of those for sure!
My toes are coated in this fabulous color as I type. I'm a licensed cosmetologist, and I made sure to snag my favorite shades at the local supply chain before they sold out, just as I did when the Chicago collection came out.(can we say "lincoln park after dark"?) I've been a fan of dark dark colors since my teens(i was a closet goth..shhhhhh!) and I am ultra pale in that "put me next to you and you'll feel bronze tan" kind of way. I'm excited that this trend is still going strong. Fall is my season and dark lips and nails are my signature.
just ran out to buy Russian Navy today... it's only on my toes though, since they're enforcing a new uniform policy at work, but i must say it's a nice change from black. i'm thinking about picking up Midnight in Moscow too. does any prefer the ProWide Brushes? are they too wide, or wide enough to cover in just one stroke?
Beautyzilla random thought: I had a Russian boyfriend called "Bugsy" he was really really good in bed.
I'm going to the local mall tomorrow with the hopes that this has not caught on in the ole' south so I can snag a bottle. Kate's last post doesn't sound promising:(
I'm a huge fan of the blue color family anyway so this is a no brainer for me. Plus, this looks like it won't make you look like a corpse which is good. Sooo pretty! I just hope I can get away with wearing this in my conservative company.
So I was at Ulta last night and saw this Russian Navy you gals are all in a tissy about. I had it my basket, it's pretty. But then I remember I have a Chanel dark blue from a few years ago called Night Sky that was actually a contest winner. Someone got to design and name a Chanel polish, can you imagine? Anyway, it's Russian Navy with tiny silver sparkle. Really gorgeous. So I switched it out with Midnight in Moscow. Catherine the Grape was looking good to me too. Then I switched that out with Essie Ritzy Business, a light bronzey-silver. At this point I was confused and saw my hub giving me stink eye through the window so I put it back, grabbed a lipgloss in about 5 seconds and called it a day!
Matte polishes are going to be huge, Orly, OPI, Essie, and Zoya already have collections out
Oh, and OPI has a matte version of Russian Navy in the collection. Get it before it's gone!-Allya (http://paintedtips.blogspot.com/)
Good Tip ollie! I love OPI matte.
I have this and it is so beautiful. It's the type of blue color that someone even my age could wear. Classy color! :-)
Hey, I'm a guy and I like this too. Just picked up a brand new bottle at my local spa for under $4 including tax (It was in their discontinued lot, though I don't know why). The last one I got at ULTA for 10 plus tax. It looks really great on my toes.
Russian Navy is one of my favorite blue polishes along with Yoga-ta get this blue from OPI too!Blue, vampy, shimmery totally gorgeous!
