CAREFREE HAIR REMOVERS - DRUGSTORE DEALS!

Thu, 09/06/2007 - 3:24pm
  • Body

Every Thursday Rachael Robbins brings you the best of her DD's. This week it's her must haves for debauchery!

Don’t you wish there was a beauty product that could actually wash away our sins? Or something to just cover them up? I just spent a week with Meg in L.A. and I desperately need a product such as this, and QUICK!! Meg and I are what the psychiatric community would call “Enablers” (you thought I was going to say sociopaths, I know you did, and at times this past week, I might have agreed with you).

Anyway, even though there aren’t any sin-washers available at this time (but I hear the Vatican has something in development) there are beauty products I’ve mentioned in the past that cover up beauty sins. Self tanner like Almay’s “Bare It All Leg’s” is good quick fix for covering up bruises obtained on the dance floor at 3am (or in our case the kitchen/dance floor of a certain celebrity). And Band Aid’s Blister Block to heal beat up feet we got from walking the two blocks from the Standard to the Comedy Store on Sunset. Crest White Strips to bleach away the nicotine stains after 2 packs of cigarettes a night. And Burt’s Bees Repair Serum for rug burns and tired and abused skin.

Well, today I want to add a few things this list of quick fixes and sin-coverers. Say for instance you are in L.A. and have no power in 115 degree weather, coupled with hard core hang overs every day and you can’t seem to fit in a trip to the best waxing place in the universe (Pink Cheeks on Ventura) Then Carefree’s Face and Bikini Total Wax Strip Kit to the rescue! Carefree has just come out with a great line of products for getting rid of unwanted body hair. They also have a leg depilatory Totally Smooth Leg Cream with Blade Free Razor, and to maintain those smooth legs After Hair Removal Totally Smooth Daily Moisturizer. The best thing about these products is that they don’t smell like the stinky hair removers of yester yore. They have a fresh clean scent. And they really work! The after hair removal cream is my favorite. Rich and super hydrating.

I guess the moral of this story is that sometimes you are the bug and sometimes you are the windshield, but in either case, wouldn’t you want to be perfectly groomed?

Disclaimer I have no idea what she is talking about, I have been home all week knitting! XOXO Meg

Any other Carefree fans out there?

I was got all 3 of these and I went on a hair removal frenzy with them. First was the leg cream with blade free razor. Smelled good so that's a plus. But when I checked at the first time interval, still hairy. Left it on a bit more, checked-less hairy but certainly not smooth. And honestly, 10 mins to shave my legs? Maybe if I was really bored, but this was too time consuming even if I was happy with the results. Next up, the wax strips. These worked really well. Only problem was I guess I didn't pull my skin taut enough because I was black and blue afterwards, hairless though! This is not a good look for a bikini line. But I blame this on me, not the product. Laying down would have been better. Lastly, the after removal creme. This was my favorite too. Super creamy! I didn't notice hair growing back any slower but it made me feel very silky. So I've got a no, a maybe if you use it right and a yes. I'm going to give them and overall yes.

i bought and tried it out..not so good. took a little too long and if the bladelessrazor doesnt' pick up all those pesky hairs, they just kinda stay stuck. it was more work than shaving. i'm not too crazy about those hair removing creams. i find them totake longer than shaving.

Ok.. I only tried the Totally Smooth Leg Cream with Blade Free Razor, and I didn't like it one bit.I thought it smelled kinda gross. and it didn't make my legs a totally hair free environment. And it took a long time.. I could wait around 10 minutes if it smelled better and if it were to reallyremove all the hair.. maybe I didn't do it right.. but I thought I did. And what hair did come off didn't stay away any longer than the hair that goes away when I just plain shave..which is quicker and smells better!!I don't have the patience or the nose for this one.. sorry... this gets a no from lily

No No No! I got that Leg Cream with Blade Free Razor. It did not remove the hair. It took about 20 minutes instead of the three to five like it says on the package. And it just burned my skin! It hurt worse than razor burn. Just buy a Schick Intuition and the Skintimate Aftershave Gel - that's all you'll ever need!!!!!

i don't really like any chemical hair removers. it took too long and it doesn't get smooth like a shave would. and i just don't mind shaving my legs and i have professionalwax products for my bikini. the afterwax was okay, it smelled good like citrus and it made my legs smooth.

I received the Carefree Face and Bikini Wax Strip Kit and had mixed feelings on it. The instructions and entire kit are well put together and fairly simple to follow. But like powderpuff, I think waxing (for me) is best left to the professionals. I had trouble getting all of the hairs out and even using the pre-waxing lotion my skin suffered from redness and irritation for a few days. I do have pretty sensitive skin, so other ladies may have better luck with this.

No thank you on the Totally Smooth Leg Cream with Blade Free Razor, I did not end up with totally smooth legs. With my busy schedule I don’t have the time when I need the hair on my legs to be removed to apply the cream wait longer than they tell you to when I can get a better shave from a razor and it only takes minuets. Plus the hair came back faster with this blade free razor than with the normal razor. But like DD I did like the daily moisturizer. But was it exceptional, not really and there are just as good products on the market that are easier to find.

Hair Free, as free as the wind blows..Why this reminds me of my favorite childhood movie, Born Free is beyond me.. Total digression.. Hey, it’s Friday and I could not be more elated! I think that the Carefree’s Face and Bikini Total Wax Strip Kit is a good product. But not for moi. It defiantly removes the hair.. but I hate doing the deed.. not to savvy with wax I guess. So, it’s faster and easier to go to a salon and pay someone else to do this, its well worth it, they are used to doing this. Look what happened to our DD! I tell you it can be dangerous if you are not in the right position while working with wax! Poor DD got all bruised from it :( Carefree products are well known for getting rid of unwanted body hair and I think in the right hands it is a fantastic line. Perhaps if you have a friend or spouse willing to assist you things would work well. But that’s not a usual setting.. Next, I thought the leg depilatory was a different story, this I could handle alone. The Totally Smooth Leg Cream with Blade Free Razor was time consuming but it works, it was hard to tell what was going on as you waited. I also thought that the next day the hair seems to come in sooner.. perhaps that was just me. I am impressed with the very smooth legs I had when I applied the After Hair Removal Totally Smooth Daily Moisturizer. That was nice stuff. I liked it and will continue to use it.

Unfortunately, my leg hair is so coarse, I never get completely smooth :(
