L'OREAL PARIS HIP HIGH INTENSITY PIGMENTS COLOR RICH CREAM CRAYON! DRUGSTORE DEAL THURSDAYS!
Every Thursday Rachael Robbins brings you the best of her DD's. Except for when it is Friday because Meg is on vacation and was on a plane on Thursday! Enjoy!
Compliments Galore! Makes a girl all warm and fuzzy inside!
Yesterday was a great compliments day for me! I spent the afternoon with Madam X to celebrate her birthday. It was Madam X’s choice of activities and her favorite thing to do is get Tasty De-lite and then have a shop/stroll thru the luxurious end of Bleeker Street. If you live in NYC or if you’ve ever been a tourist here, you know the section of Bleeker that I’m talking about: Lulu Guiness, Ralph Lauren, Coach, Marc Jacobs, James Pearse, Cynthia Rowly, Juicy and the list goes on and on! We mostly stroll and do as much shopping as our actress budgets will allow in such a high end area. And as you can imagine, I don’t go shopping in sweats and pony tail, make-up free. Oh no, the horrors!! But this situation calls for dressing chic without looking like I’m trying to hard. I decided to forsake my normal jean look and go for shorts (and the 90 degree weather helped me make that choice!). I kid you not, every other store we walked into, the shop keepers gushed over my shorts! “OMG I LOVE your shorts” “Where did you get them” “Are they from the new Ralph Lauren store” and on and on! And to this I replied, they’re Libertine.........from Target!!! HA!! DD’s Rachael strikes again! But in the fashion department this time. So satisfying.
OK, but I digress from what we’re supposed to be talking about here and that is make-up! Well as chance would have it, I left my make-up bag in my car, which is in the shop. So not only do I have a different colored loaner car, I was also forced to change up the color of my make-up too! Not having the ‘A Make-up Kit’ around I was forced to resort to the ‘B Kit’. And that meant experimentation time. I use Cat Cosmetics Smolder Stick on my eyes every day. If I want to bump up the look for night I add some Girlactic shadow on top of it. But yesterday I turned to something that my friend Nicole Randleman from iheartgloss.com bought for me, and the results, well resulted in compliments!
So my DD tip this week is for L’Oreal Paris HIP High Intensity Pigments Color Rich Cream Crayon in ‘authentic’. A beautiful twist up, blendable eye shadow stick, very similar to Cat’s Smolder stick, in a deep forest green. It proved to be very complimentary to my dark brown eyes. It was so easy to blend into a smoky eye look and it stayed on thru a drive to Queens, coffee with my hottie friend General Ford (who is NOT gay, but the first thing he did was compliment my make-up), Tasty D and shopping with Madame X, dinner with Nicole AND a chance helicopter ride around Manhattan! Just a normal day in the life of Rachael Robbins ;)
Anyway, these yummy sticks of pigment, come in a bunch or colors and even have a little built in sharpener on the end!

I, for one, LOVE the stories (okay, and I love Beautyzilla and her shorts and her reviews)! Stories are what make this particular makeup review site better, more interesting, and sets Megsmakeup apart from all of the others which are just boring replicas of every other review site. Negative-Nyahnyah - if your took the time to look, there are oodles of reviews and information on this site. Chillax a bit, why-don't-ya??
I like stories.
Katie
Nyahnyah: Thanks for your input, though not very positive! The style of this site is to include entertainment and levity as a part of evaluating make-up. The actual make-up review is serious and well thought out. If you have any questions regarding this or any other product I review in my DD's section, please feel free to send me a message at my profile. I would be happy to elaborate. Thanks for being part of the Meg's make-up community!
I love this eyeliner. I went out and bought it after this review, but I bought the thick pencil HIP in black. It took time getting use to a thick pencil, but before I used MAC eyeliner and I actually like this eyeliner better! I've cried several times in a day, wiped my tears and it still looked amazing! This stuff really stays on well and it can be applied dramatic or subtle. I can't dare into the colors yet, maybe I'll buy a blue for the weekends. I didn't buy the brush ones b/c the brushes got bad reviews and I didn't have one to switch it up with. Definitely love this product and won't ever go back to MAC. Although, my favorite name brand is Urban Decay, but they are always out of it when I come home from college so HIP is perfect since it's at all CVS stores by my school!
I'm definitely going to have to try the HIP crayons. I've been dying to try their gel pot liners, too. Their eyeshadows are a really high quality and they stay put! I agree with Kate's observation, NARS eyeshadow duos are very similar, which makes HIP a great alternative if you're buying a color that you don't want to invest big $$$ in. I'm also loving their cream blushes, it's just unfortunate that some of their best shades are limited editions :(
I love these little crayon sticks. They definatly appeal to my artistic nature and they have a permanent place in my travel bag. so nice they dont fall apart in transit and they truely do have staying power. I use the darker green, blue, purple sticks primarily as liner and they stay even through a sweaty rush hour commute :)
Both the shorts and the crayons remind me of my childhood. The crayon of course is obvious but I used to have a blue and green slicker (sans the skulls!) with whales on it. So cute!! I'm so glad that we can still have these as women! I'm definitely trying out these crayons and picking up the large tote bag of same fabric! Thank you for the great post Rachael! I hope you have many more days full of compliments:)
The shadow duos from the H.I.P. line all look mysteriously like NARS color duos...there's one that lookds like Sundance, Misfit, Divine, Carvaggio. Champagne taste, grapejuice budget.
Katie
Love the shorts, and the stories ;). Keep em' coming!! I think without themthe reviews would get boring. And I'm going to try that eye crayon, sounds pretty!
Nyahnyah...part of the reason I love Drugstore Deal Thursday is because of Rachael's stories. I guess we could all post and review about just the product itself, but, that's no fun. It's like a bunch of girlfriends getting together to chat about makeup...we'd all tell stories and try to relate with each other by making each other laugh and feel good. I guess that's the reason that we tend to get off the subject sometimes....girls just want to have fun..you know ;-).
Btw- she posted a picture of the shorts... when she should have posted a picture of the product... since its a review... of the product. Not of shorts.
I like this for the most part. I bought the duo Brown and Copper. It served it's purpose while traveling. I am professional however and cant get into the crazy colors, My boss is ultra conservative. If he weren't so great to work for...However, I tend to like all of L'Oreal's eye shadow's and blushes. If I werent addicted to the high end stuff I wouldprobably on buy L'Oreal. The foundations tend to match my coloring best, and I like there matte eyeshadows. So imo the most bang for your buck here!
ooh me too!!! I LOVE stories!!! I am soooo buying L’Oreal Paris HIP High Intensity Pigments Color Rich Cream Crayon. I like the idea that it's a twist up and it has a sharpener on the end. That is awesome! It also stays on through NY humidity to boot. Thanks for your short, sweet and very informative review, Rachael :-)
Hmmm i dunno maybe its just me but shouldn't there be a lil more on the product and a lot less of something that has nothing to do with the product at all. If the story led into the makeup that would be fine but it had nothing to do with it. And a lot of the "reviews" here are in that format. Eight paragraphs of something that has nothing to do with the product and a couple of sentences on the product itself. Why not just split the two? Add a forum here were you can all talk about personal matters, and then keep reviews.
Rachael, I love those shorts! I want to make a Target run this week now! I've always loved crayons and coloring, so I'm going to make a drug store run this week to try out these inventions by L'Oreal. It's like big-girl, makeup crayons. So cool!!!
The way I see it is that you get to know a little bit about the writer by the tales they tell. It keeps it interesting and shows personality. And if you like the writer, you might like their reccomended product. BUT if you have no interest in getting to know them or reading their stories-you can just read the reviews for the straight poop. That's the way we roll here at MM!
Hey Nyahnyah,There wasn't a good image of the product anywhere on the web so we decided instead of no picture at all, we wouldpost a picture of the shorts. Also, I ask the girls to tell a little tale before they get to the product becauseI think I don't want people to feel like they're reading the back of a box of cereal! Thanks for your opinion though :)
i really wanna try the hip pigments and the cream crayons
I like the stories!!! They're cute! As long as they're not ten paragraphs long, I'm fine with them! :)
awww the stories are sooo cute!
The quality of the products in this line is amazing! Completely comparable to Lancome, in my opinion.
I like the HIP line, but I've never seen this creamy crayon before. This post originated a few years ago, so maybe they don't sell it anymore? It seems like a lot of the HIP line is on clearance at my local CVS, so maybe they rotate their line often.
Aw I love the stories (and the shorts for that matter!) :P
I love having the stories! It makes the articles really fun.:D
those shorts are awesome!
Holland RayeLee Davida McCafferty
i love this
I really enjoy reading your stories!and of course I like the shorts and the A and B plan cosmetic cases.I should try and make some for myself. Thanks for the idea!
i've swatched the cream crayon it's pretty good. but i wouldn't buy it cuz it's a lil pricey
Thank you for the reviews. Loreal is consistantly good.
