URBAN DECAY CLEAN AND SOBER!!

Mon, 07/30/2007 - 12:05pm
  • Face

The glamorous and sexy badgirl that is Tammy from Urban Decay caught me off guard when she said that Megsmakeup should try "Clean and Sober".
We're clean but sober? Did she not get her audiance? I had heard her clearly up until that point in our conversation. Once she dropped that bomb all I heard was "blahblahbla" like Charlie Brown's teacher.

I guess we could try a sober mailing. True, sometimes I can forget a digit on a zip code in between bellini sips. But that just doesn't seem as fun. Our mailings are like a combination of Christmas and a cocktail party. I couldn't believe Tammy would suggest such a thing! Who was this new woman! Where was our fun badgirl!

I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I opened the box Miss Tammy sent. "Clean and Sober" was Urban Decay's new make-up remover. Phew! Now everynight I get clean and sober and don't have to stop imbibing! Simply Genius!

Here's what Urban Decay says about their Clean and Sober Makeup Remover.."What it is:Sweep away your daily transgressions with Urban Decay's soothing gel-based makeup remover. What it is formulated to do:Mild cleansers, coupled with botanicals like jasmine, sacred lotus, and manuka honey effortlessly dissolve makeup, while a touch of lavender scent provides much needed serenity. The oil-free formula leaves skin soft and refreshed and won't irritate eyes, leaving you free to explore your other vices".

Ladies please post if Urban Decay's Clean and Sober was anything but a buzzkill!

This is going to be a hard review for me b/c I dont like make-up removers. I prefer good old face wash that foams up and washes everything away! But here goes: The packaging was so cute! The name and concept all adorable. It did, however, sting my eyes, as most eye make-up removers do. I dont have sensative eyes though......If you are a make-up remover person, I would reccomend it, just b/c it's so darn cute!

This is absolutely in my Top 5 of any megsmakeup product. I love the idea of a makeup removerthat you can use both on your face and your eyes. I love even more that it comes in a pump (all skin/hair/body products should!!!!) But what I love the most is that it not only removes makeup but doubles as a really nice, gentle cleanser. I hate taking makeup off even more than I love putting it on, and using this at night seems like it cuts my routine down to mere seconds. It's one of the few eye makeup removers that doesn't irritate, dry out, or make your lids greasy. And it does leave your skin "soft and refreshed", which I've found in very few cleansers, much less a remover. Thumbs way up on this one and I'll definitely buy another when this one runs out!

The jury's still out on this one, for me anyway... I, like Madamex, was soooo confused when I first tried this. Is this a face wash? Was I supposed to wash this off? Is it just an eye makeup remover? So I emailed Urban Decay and they answered my questions; no it's not a face wash, you don't need to wash it off, and no, it's not just an eye makeup remover. I have found that it's not as great as removing eyeliner and mascara as The Body Shop's Camomile Eye Makeup remover is, but it feels much better on my skin. Like Desertdoll, the first time I tried it, I used too much and it stung my eyes. However, it's a great way to quickly clean the dirt and grime off my face. This stuff feels and smells so good!!!

Love the art, makes me want a tattoo (or to join the navy)! This is good stuff. I don't think I love it as much as the other ladies here, but I like it. It smells great, I love the cooling effect too. And I agree with Clever-a pump bottle for this is genius. BUT, I used a bit too much on a cotton ball the first time and my eyes stung. That keeps me from the love catagory. Next time I used less and I was fine, so just make sure to use just what you need.

I love this makeup remover. I wish I would have had it when I was an esthetician. I used to dread women coming to get a skin treatment with a ton of mascara and I would have to try to carefully get it off and usually my efforts would fail and they wouldlook like a raccoon, and have the added bonus of makeup remover stinging their eyes and leaving them bright red, like a raccoon with pink eye. This remover is a gel so it's not oily, it works really well to remove makeup and it doesn't seem to sting the eyes. You can use it all over your face too, like a cleanser almost. I also love that it comes in a pump. And it's pretty and purple and has cute packaging.

I was soooo confused when I got this Urban Decay Clean & Sober Makeup Remover - was I supposed to use it as a cleanser? Was I supposed to use it on a cotton ball? It said makeup remover, but there were no directions, so I didn't know if I was supposed to slather it all over my face, or what. After searching the web, calling other Meg's Makeup ladies, I just figured I would use it all possible ways and see what worked best. WOW, does this WORK! I like wetting my face, slathering a couple of pumps of the remover all over my face and removing with a cotton ball. Not only does this smell divine, but it truly does leave your face 100% makeup free AND it doesn't sting in any way. Clean & Sober removed stage makeup, airbrushed makeup from photo shoots - EVERYTHING! Amazing!!! Urban Decay absolutely delivers the promised results - "leaves skin soft and refreshed" and doesn't "irritate eyes" - Love it!

So glad to hear about this product. I'm using a waterproof mascara for the summer months and need a good cleanser. I picked up Almay's makeup remover but it's way to oily making my eyes blurry. Can't wait to try this out.

We were doing our mailing and I mentioned to the girls that I didn’t really like Clean and Sober, it wasn’t getting my face clean at all. The girls stopped what they were doing and just looked at me, then they said, ahhh you’re cleaning your face with eye make up remover. It’s not my fault that I couldn’t read the directions on the container........ If I have to come up with one negative comment that would be it. The container is clear and the writing is in small cursive. As an eye make up remover it’s great. I love the pump, what I do in use half a pump on a cotton ball; wipe my eye lid to remove my shadow and liner. Then with the other side of the cotton ball get it wet and remove my Kiss Me Mascara (that only comes off with water and a little pressure). I wouldn’t suggest using more than a half a pump, if you use too much it can sting your eyes. It comes off real easy and doesn’t leave any kind of residue. After reading Madamex’s review I think I’ll try it again as a face cleanser, only trying it the way she suggested. But one thing I know for sure is that it is a great eye make up remover!

I guess it wasn't just me -- I had no idea how to use this either when I first got it. I figured the instructions were on the box, which I'd thrown out, so I just made up my own routine. I put it on my skin dry, try to leave it on for at least 30-60 seconds, then rinse it off with an Olay daily facial. I agree that it's not the *best* for getting eye makeup off (though it does work), but I absolutely love it on my face. It really feels like it gets everything off without stripping your skin/making it too greasy, which is the result of most MU removers I've used.

I have to admit this gel eye make-up remover may take a little getting used to, but I ended up really like this unique gel. Urban Decays eye-make remover is in a cute pump bottle that dispenses a clear gel. At first, I wasn’t sure how much I would need, but a pump or two on a cotton ball takes care of all of your eye make-up (even my water-proof mascara). Like powderpuff noted, the gel keeps spills from happening. Plus I like the coolness of the get on my eyes at the end of my day. I also wear contacts and rub my eyes a lot. I had no problems with stinging, watering eyes and no redness. A cooling product that is great during the summer!
