PHYSICIANS FORMULA SHIMMER STRIPS BRONZER! DRUGSTORE DEAL!
Every Thursday Rachael Robbins brings you the best of her DD's!
Be tan without skin cancer! Be bronzed without being broke!!
So, I just got home from shooting ‘Bikini Bloodbath 3: Bikini Christmas” (which is why I missed my DD’s post last week) and my wardrobe consisted of a different bikini each day topped off with a Santa hat, of course. Just another normal day in the life of Rachael Robbins. We all know that tan fat looks better then white fat, so I was determined to take all my Meg’s Make-up tanning knowledge and apply it, literally, to my person. So I started by slathering my body with Dove Energy Glow in Medium to Dark (oh yeah, I was not messing around) which made me nice and golden. And to get my face up to speed I used my fav bronzer from Sugar. But something strange happened: During some down time I was shopping at the local CVS (that was as glamorous as the shopping gets in Plainville CT!) and something caught my eye! At first I thought “Why are they selling Bobbi Brown cosmetics at the CVS?” At closer glance I saw that it was not Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Block compact, but Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Bronzer! Which looks exactly the same as its pricy counter part! I chose Waikiki Strip which is a beautiful peachy bronzer ! With just enough shimmer to make me look dewy and fresh (even after a week of only four hours of sleep a night!). It looks gorgeous as a highlighter on my shoulders and collar bone. And even worked amazingly as an eye shadow, giving me that J-Lo bronze look (and let’s face it, J-Lo has achieved the epitome of Bronze!)
Ladies, what's your best DD find for bronzer? Any other Physician Formula products I need?

I will have to give PF strips a try. Right now, I am using L'Oreal HIP bronzing powder and have been pretty impressed. The HIP (high intensity pigments) really are a lot stronger than other bronzers I have used, so I had to practice a few times before I was able to achieve the sunkissed look rather than the dirt smeared look. I have the shade "glowing" and like the color, although I wish it were maybe a little lighter for me, because I have a fair complexion.
bwahahah! my bobbi brown shimmer brick shattered into thousands of shimmery pieces recently, so maybe i should pick this up! last time i went into my local longs pharmacy, i was FLOORED by the huge range and selection of physicians formula products! i was tempted by a PF bronzer that was printed with gemstones (so original! so strange!) but i didn't indulge. oddly enough, my favorite bronzer is a DD! yup, maybelline bronzer in "sunlight" is my go-to year-round shade. it's utral light and sheer (befitting a cheapo product) which is what i look for in bronzer - i like to build up, rather than be forced to wipe off and start all over. it's also heavily yellow-based, which is good for my sallow jaundiced skin. good luck on the rest of your shoot, rachael!
I can only use this product at night or for weekend festivities because its got a little too much shimmer going on for an average day. I also like it as an eyeshadow.
I love the occasional Drug Store deal! PF, in my opinion, is the best you can get at the DS. I liked this bronzer. I don't use much bronzer because shame on me, I love the sun, so I try to keep my make up money focused on other things (like sun repair cream...hmm...:) and this bronzer was the perfect price and it is just lovely!
I love this stuff! Works really well with a porcupine-type blush brush. I completely recommend this item.
I've also been tempted by the PF bronzer with the jewels on it. Hmmmm maybe I shouldn't resist for $7 or whatever they cost. That's like 1/4 of what I normally plunk down for a bronzer without a second thought.
I got this on Thursday afternoon :-).Rachael, one day i'm gonna send you a pic of the DD's that I've purchased thanks to your posts. I got this shimmer strip compact in Riviera Strip. The first time I put it on, I was a bit too heavy handed and I made myself look like plastic, lol. The next time I put on just a bit and I love it!!! It gives the perfect amount of shimmer and it's sooooo pretty. Thanks again Rach!!! You're the best!!!
Ladies: I tried another bronzer from Physicians Formula without shimmer in it. It was the mosaic looking one, and it was AWEFUL! It made my face look dirty and muddy! The Shimmer Strips are not sparkly or shimmery in the tween teen scense. It has just enough shimmer to give your cheeks that healthy glow, and go on without giving you that dirty bronzer look!
So pretty! Am I ever going to be able to stop at a drugstore and not walk out with at least one makeup item? Not if you keep finding stuff like this!
Ok, before I started working at Sephora and became a complete makeup snob, I so used to use Physician's formular bronzer!!!! They had a mosaic one just like the Blonde/Brunette Bronzers from Guerlain! They were great - just a slight amount of color on the high points without being like dirt smudged on your face. Good pick, Rachael!!

I've read some reviews and heard the PF wonder brow is excellent. It's a wax brow stick that comes in several different colors. I haven't tried it yet, but it's on my shopping list. I'll have to give the bronzer a try too.
Wow I completely forgot that I have this! I actually really like it, but only for night as it's a little too sparkly for me for daytime!
I love this bronzer, i use this as an eyeshadow too.
Now I am so annoyed with myself! I stopped at CVS on my way home from work to pick up something stupid that I can't even remember now, and I passed by these 3 times, but didn't pick one up. I have so much stuff right now, that I didn't want to add even one more thing before I do a major cleaning out of the beauty product stash. It reminds me of the Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks that I used to use when I worked right next to a Nordstrom and made weekly purchases there.
