CLARISONIC SKINCARE BRUSHES-SHOULD I BUY THIS?

Sun, 07/08/2007 - 6:50pm
  • Miscellaneous

Toomuchgloss just sent this off to me! What's the word ladies?

Hi Meg, I'm having a serious "Should I buy this?" moment and I need the gals to help me figure this out. I've been lusting after one of those fancy pancy Clarisonic skincare brushes. They make all sorts of fantastic claims that I'm a sucker for. (Use less of your crazy expensive product! 61% better absorption!) Will I be sad that I spent $195 on what appears to be a large Sonicare toothbrush? Thank you! thank you! - Toomuchgloss

Here's what Clarisonic Claims "
More than 2X as effective as manual cleansing
Leaves skin feeling and looking smoother
Increases product absorption
Gentle enough for use twice daily
Reduces oily areas, dry skin patches and blemishes
Reduces the appearance of visible pores
Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Gentle enough for Rosacea, Acne and Seborrhea*

Any luck with Clarisonic skincare brushes? Please help Toomuchgloss out!

I just ordered mine from Skinstore.com, and I absolutely love it! I got the pink one, which is great because they donate $10 to Breast Cancer Awareness (not to mention, I'm a sucker for anything pink). Plus, I didn't have to pay shipping and handling which is definitely a plus in my book.

The Clarisonic brush is a great tool to have in your beauty arsenal. I've had this tool for about six months. I'm really pleased with the results and with the actual brush. The brush feels substantial in your hand. It's waterproof which is a great plus for those of us who shower everyday. The plug in charger will charge your brush for up to a week with every day use. I've even dropped it a couple of times in my shower and it held up like nothing happened. Now, for the real review. Was it really worth the $195? Yes, absolutely for me. Not only is this product made really well it's helped keep my skin clean and clear. Also, I can skip an exfoliator scrub because this tool already does it. This equals one less step in the morning and more sleep! It has a timer inside that beeps when you should move to another section of your face so you don't over do it. Start out using a couple of times a week, gradually adding more days when needed. My skin has always felt softer with a nice clean feeling. Not overstripped. I think it's important to have a good cleanser when using this brush. Anything too astringent will be too harsh even on us oily, acne prone girls. My fine lines are less noticable and my pores are much smaller after use, skin texture much better too (I have a few acne scars that are softer looking now). It's great for the back and other areas of your body, especially dry rough spots like elbows and knees. Overall, I've been really pleased. It's a lot of money for a beauty tool but I can say with confidence this is not a purchase I regret at all.

I basically stumbled across this in a search, but the last comment by cvs stopped me from moving on. I'm one of the engineers that works on these, so don't take my word on how well it works in a beauty sense. After all, I wouldn't take it from somebody that worked for the company either. :) I DO want to assure cvs that she hasn't hurt her Clarisonic at all by using it before charging. We intentionally allow it to be run a few times before requiring a full charge. In fact, if it thinks the batteries are dead, it will give you 5 quick beeps and refuse to run until you charge it some more. Just in case anybody wonders, there really isn't anything harmful you can do to the batteries when you use it with the charging cradle that comes with it. Sometimes I leave it in the shower for days without charging and sometimes I charge it after every use, depending on whether I last used it at the sink or in the shower.

ok so just in case anyone needs anymore Clarisonic info.... I have had mine for just about two weeks now. I decided to stop all other skin care routine besides moisturizer just to see if it really does work all on it's own. I have been using the cleanser that comes with it and the "normal" brush, not the gentle one. I started using it only once a day b4 bed, as recommended by the ladies on this site. My skin felt smoother and average clean. I started a week ago with twice a day and started using my Joesoef skin care products http://www.megsmakeup.com/index.php?p=437. I loved that line all on it's own. Couple that with my Clarisonic and WOW my skin is so clear. I also noticed that the puffiness I have had under my eyes that I have had since I was little, I just checked my 2nd grade pic and there they were. Anyway the puffiness is reduced, I'm wondering if it could be the small gentle circles combined with the pulsations from the brush?? Either way I am sooooo thankful that the MOB (mom of bunny) gave me this for Christmas.

I love my clarisonic brush. I can absolutely tell a difference in my skin in the last six months that I have been using it. Also, their customer service is great. My brush began misbehaving and I called the 800 number and went straight to a real person who sent me out a new brush with no questions asked. My large pores on my cheeks closest to my nose are less clogged and I have had fewer breakouts. It took me a long time to make the decision to spend the money on this brush but I am so glad that I did.

I bought this during a desperation period when I suddenly started breaking out a lot and nothing seemed to help much. The Clarisonic maybe helped a little, but in the end I had to go to the dermatologist and get antibiotics (which I should have done a lot sooner). I still use it sometimes, it does exfoliate nicely but then so does a $4 Buf Puf facial sponge! The beeps are annoying, and I would program them out if I could be bothered to read the manual.

For those of you thinking about purchasing... I suggest buying it from the Clarisonic site. It has the travel bag, headband, two brush heads, serum and face cleanser that is included in the kit. Sephora doesn't offer all of this - just the cleanser and two brush heads (I purchased from Sephora not knowing about the Clarisonic site). Also, the good part is that Clarisonic will give a full refund if returned within 30 days and Sephora's policy is within 60 days. Either way, the bad news is you get stuck paying for the shipping if returned. Let me know if you get it and tell me what you think.

Ok... So I am as skeptical as the next person... So, I was fortunate enough to get one on loan for a week since I work for Sephora... This brush totally rocks! I ended up buying it about 6 months later thanks to Oprah putting it on her show... we were sold out forever!I have combo skin. Oily in the T and dry on my forehead and cheeks (especially in the winter!) This brush not only exfoliated all the dead skin off my face, but it also dislodged all the icky gunk in my pores on my nose. I can actally tell just by the texture of my skin on days that I cheated and skipped it. If I were on a desert island, I would have to have this brush. I don't care if I had to rub two coconuts together to make electricity to charge it... I would. Also, I got the extra brush in normal (the base comes with sensitive) It is a lot more aggressive... which I don't mind to much... but if your skin is delicate... stay with the sensitive! Two Thumbs up and a two big toes up too!

I bought one of these back in 2006, and I tell you it's worth every single penny. I no longer need to get facials to have beautiful skin. My skin, which is oily across my forehead and nose and dry elsewhere, prone to breakouts, and pores which are large and easily clogged, no longer has any issues. Just this and Cetaphil Normal during the winter and Cetaphil Oily in the summer followed by a light moisturizer and it's all I need. For anyone who regularly gets facials to correct problems with skin, this will save you hundreds of dollars a year.

My husband got me the Clarisonic about 2 weeks ago. I love it. I have pretty good skin-- that tends to be dry with breakouts during PMS, but not any more. It is so wonderful. I use a sonic tooth brush and it worked so well I figured this would too. Also I ALWAYS wear foundation and I have actually left the house 3x in 2 weeks without base on!! Crazy for me. It really smooths out your skin. I totally recommend it to anyone!

I want this brush sooo bad, but I'm sooo broke. When shopping online, I keep adding it to my basket, then I second guess myself, and then delete it. I just heard about another polisher called Sun Body Polisher that is available online for about $30 bucks. Many of the reviews I read said that is pretty comparable to Clarisonic. I might get one of those until I hit the jackpot and can splurge on the Clarisonic!

I got this brush for Christmas and I've really been happy with it.  You won't get miracles, but you will definitely get improvement.  The texture of my skin has changed and it's no longer so bumpy.  My makeup goes on smoother and my pores are no longer the moon craters they were.  They're just large-ish pores now.  :)I seem to have very thick skin that does not shed dead cells well, so my complexion is chronically clogged.  This has helped a ton to smooth everything out.  Before using it, I normally use a teeny bit of grainy scrub (St. Ives is good) on my face for a few seconds to get the worst of the dead skin off before using Clarisonic.  I use Philosophy Purity Made Simple with it.  After I'm done, my face is baby smooth and ready for moisturizer and makeup. It has definitely improved my skin and I recommend it!

The Pretika brush came in a short time, 3-4 days I believe.  I used it twice and all seemed well, then it started having technical problems.  It would start operating while it was sitting on the charger and then would not work when I went to use it.  So I called drugstore.com and they gave me a free return label to print online and sent out a new brush immediately.  So I did not have to pay for a return and had my new brush 2 days later.  When the brush started to malfunction I also called Pretika to see if they had any suggestions.  I left a voicemail and a very polite man called me back within 24 hrs.  Great customer service from both companies.  As far as the brush goes, I only got to use it twice before it failed, but that was enough for me to really miss having it until the next one came.  My face felt far cleaner with the brush and I did not like going back to washing with out it.  I've had my new brush for a few days now.  I'm relieved to have it back and have had no problems so far.  I'll have to let you know what the benefits are long term, but this brush definitely gives instant gratification!  I really like the way my face feels after using it.

This was reviewed by more people than I can count and most everyone loves it...I am in full agreement.  I will write again and update after a week or more of steady use.  Very comfortable to hold, feels secure and well made.  Why didn't I think of this first???

I bought this last year from QVC because I was experiencing problems with my skin.  It definitely helped clear it up because it scrubs your skin, in a gentle manner and removes the dirt lodged within your pores and tightens them up at the same time.  Although it is pricey, it is worth it in the long term because it pays for itself (just think of costly spa treatments).

The actual brush is not as good quality as you would get with the Clarasonic but then again even if you used it for a while and had to repurchase it's a lot less then the other one.
