REVITALASH! SHOULD I BUY THIS?
You girls rock the casbah on these questions so here's one from our new member Kristi (user name oinkette)
Dear Meg,
Not sure if this is the place to ask but... have you heard anything about Revitalash? $130 seems pretty pricey and the only thing I've found on it seems a bit biased in favor of the product. Also, I'm considering having "lash enhancement" (semi-perm fake lashes put on by a salon) so that I can leave the mascara at home while at the beach. Any thoughts on this as well? I don't mind spending the money, I just want to be sure I get what I'm paying for...or at the very least, a somewhat satisfactory result. Thanks for your advice, and I LOVE your site!! Kristi
Well Kristi, here's what Revitalash claims "RevitaLash® Eyelash Conditioner is a remarkable cosmetic innovation that within weeks will dramatically beautify your eyelashes. Your natural eyelashes will look spectacularly Longer, Thicker, Fuller and BEAUTIFUL!
I'm going to go a step further and ask Nicole Randelman. Nicole is the celebrity eyelash guru in NY so she'll have some interesting tidbits on your question. Also Nicole now pens a blog for teenagers called iheartgloss.com Purse friendly cosmetic information for the teen in your life!
Ladies, have you found any REAL miracle eyelash grower? What is it? Are extensions the only answer? Help Kristi out!

BUY IT - IT WORKS! For the first month, it seemed not to be working. But then one day I noticed my lashes were really long, and had started to curl upwards on their own. Nice, but now I can't get them to lay flat! And I had to buy new sunglasses, because my lashes smashed up against the lenses of my old ones! I stopped using the product a few weeks ago, and they're still as long as ever. One thing - they don't really get thicker, just longer.
By the way, i noticed someone said it is ok, but she never used it, if she did she will surely change her mind! Also, i bought it for $108, not $130 but Jan Marini is closer to $130 but WELL worth it. I just saw her on good morning america and now have to try her product for thinning hair also, i am so excited, she is amazing at research.
I recently got eyelash extensions. One eye is doing well, but the other eye is losing lashes. I started using REVITALASH and have definately noticed longer eyelashes. But, they seem so light and soft textured. Is this normal when first using. Any advice appreciated.
Talika Lipocils is a good lash conditioning treatment. So is Fusion Beauty's Lash Fusion (But don't wear it alone - Lash Fusion is meant to be a primer, not a wear alone Mascara).

I find it strange that those who have not even tried the product can review it. I HAVE tried this product and with serious doubt, but I and have proof, physical proof, that this stuff really works. It has worked on me and many others according two spa owners i have talked to who where selling similar products but are switching to sell Revitalash in their salon. There is more to this product then just application to the lashes as one stated in their review. It is applied like eyeliner at the base of the lash which penatrates into the skin conditioning the root and maybe more. Why do I believe this you ask? Because after my few times of using this product which was only once a day I felt as though the area it was applied to had been lightly sunburned which was stated might happen in the pamplet. I stopped for a few days and started back up again after realizing that my lashes although not longer yet, had started to seem thicker and turn upwards. After a short time the very slight burning sensation went away. I started in May and it took about 8 weeks to really see the dramitic results. As of August everyone noticed and inquired if I had had extentions "which by the way are very damaging to your real lashes even if done properly". Now the price at first really made me apprehensive about buying Revitalash but I'm still to this day on my first tube and as the instructions state, the more you use does not impact the results. Results may very but my results are undisputable and I will continue to use this product faithfully. Also, once lash growth has been achieved, I strongly recommend getting a professional lash tinting. You can find Revitalash as low as $90 on a very popular auction site, hint hint. JG
kristi, if what you're looking for is a fuss-free look for the beach, i would recommend dyeing your eyelashes. i have a lash and brow tint from a brand called roux that i like. i bought it at my local beeauty supply store for abouut $40, and there is enough dye in the kit for dozens of apps. it turns my lashes JET BLACK and lasts for about 2-3 weeks. you need a friend's help to apply it, but it only takes 15 minutes.
Revitalash is AMAZING it truly works but there are some unauthorized resellers online so be careful. I have also used Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash and this TRULY works as well, many think it is better. I called www.TheSkinSpecialist.com and they sell both and they are a reputable local skin studio and they told me exactly how they compare and were so helpful. I also Called revitalash to confirm they were ligit and they were one of their salons, so be careful, if you get "real" product it will amaze you. I think i prefer Jan Marini's, it costs more but there is more product in the tube so it lasts me longer and I prefer the texture.I think the studio name is the skin specialist and i spoke with a specialist named cheryl who does the lash extensions also and told me about everything.www.Theskinspecialist.com/store Love me new Lashes! I trimmed them once!
Absolutely you should buy Revitalash. I have been using it since it arrived on the market after Jan Marini was so difficult to buy last year. I have had incredible results. I now use it only once a week if that and have not had any decrease in my lashes length or growth. I also have them tinted darker and no longer need to wear any mascara EVER!Needless to say I highly recommend it. I would agree that you should buy with caution online. I did have a friend purchase from someone other than the original RevitalashMD site and she was a little unsure of the quality of the product. In addition the original website has the story behind the product and contributes part of their profits to breast cancer research.
Ok Ladies. This is one of the first products I have ever bought that does everything it says it does and more! No Joke! Do not hesitate to buy this product if you want longer, thicker eyelashes. It is nothing short of a miracle!
I must say that after reading ALL the reviews I figured its got to work......so I spent the money. Nothing really happened until 2 months, then all the sudden the results popped. My lashes are thinker, stronger and curled. I no longer need to use an eyelash curler which certainly stresses your lashes. They are darker as well as filled in. I was certainly skeptic especially since it too sooooooo long to see results. But I must agree that IS worth it. I can go without mascara now.I hope the price continues to drop with more and more using it with these results (supply and damand). It is a great product and yes I do recommend it. Just be patient and results will happen.
Kristi, this stuff WORKS!!! My sister-in-law used it and her eyelashes are ridiculous!!! I've ven heard stories about girls having to trim back there too-long lashes! But if you're looking for a mascara look without the mascara, go for the lash extensions. I had Nicole do mine quite a few times and even my oblivious husband noticed and said how great they looked!
Kristy:Ok, here's the scoop on this product. Going by what my clients say (and I have not used this product myself and have not done significant study on it so this is just my opinion), this product is a conditioner for your lashes so it works in the same fashion as your hair conditioner would work. It adds moisture to the eyelash hair which plumps it up and makes it appear fuller and glossier. But bare in mind that your lashes grow and then fall out and then start again in cycles. In fact you shed about 5 to 10 lashes a day naturally. So it's not like the hair on your head which can be there for a long time, these hairs have an expiration date for sure. Also, this product is not ingested into the body, it's only applied to the lashes superficially, so I don't see how it can improve the new hairs growing out of your lash line!Simply put, Revitalash will help make your lashes "appear" longer and fuller if your own lashes are brittle, or broken or even fine. Also, like your hair conditioner, it will help keep your lashes in healthier shape but it's not a miracle drug or anything. My feeling is if you put any nutritive substance like vitamin E oil on your lashes every day you would have a similar outcome. Sorry to disappoint. Now on to something I do know about, Lash Extensions! Lash extensions are individual semi permanent extenders usually made out of a polyester type of material. They are applied to each individual lash with a surgical grade sort of "super glue". They make your lashes appear thicker, fuller and longer. They should last up to three months with monthly fill ins to replace the lashes that have naturally shed from your eye. Now, listen closely. Lash extensions can be amazing but they must be applied by someone who is extremely skilled. Just because a salon offers this service doesn't mean the lash technician knows what they are doing or is gifted at it either! Many is the time I have had to remove poorly applied extensions to someone who went to a very reputable (and expensive) salon and received a set of extensions that were applied really badly. So do your research and speak to other clients who have had them applied by the technician at your chosen salon. Try to see some of the work, in person. If the Lash tech is really skilled they won't mind having you come in and look at some of their clients lashes. Also, (this is really important) make sure the lash tech takes time out to discuss your lifestyle, expectations and the upkeep of these extensions because if they don't you can come out with a set that is too long and makes you feel like you have spider leg eyes! I cannot count how many times I have received calls from freaked out clients whose lashes were ridiculously long. Remember that these are on your eyes and that you have to live with them, not the lash technician. If they are not willing to take the time to speak with you and answer your questions, move on to someone who cares enough to do so. You'll be happier with the result!Good luck,Nicole
I have been using revitalash for almost a month. After one week, I noticed that my eyelashes were thicker. After three, they are longer and with Mascara... JUST BEAUTIFUL. These are the lashes I have always wanted. I have been getting extentions for the past two years and the maintenence is too much. Plus, I couldn't go swimming or into the Sauna. And I had good glue and a good esthetician who was using Extreme Lash, one of the best products out there. All I can say is Revitalash works. I highly recommend this product.
I agree, you must be cautious about the major discounter websites but you can verify the true resellers by calling them and asking them to fax you their salon license. Revitalash MD told me that the company i bought from was authorized (www.theskinspecialist.com) plus the girls were SO helpful with usage information and also told me all about lash extensions pros/cons and gave free skin advice. They gave me a coupon code to use at checkout to save another $10 as a new customer.worth a try! I cannot live without this product, my lashes get compliments EVERY day!!! I use Jan Marini Eyelash in my brows, helped fill in sparse areas, so i have both but i love dealing with the girls at the skin specialist, they are so honest. All of my friends now use one or the other and they absolute love them, we all have great lashes. Wish i never told them of it!
Revitalash is wonderful. I've had it for 1 week and I already can see a huge difference. I used to always use glue on fakes, and now I have my own beautiful lashes that look like the stars!! Love it.
Meg - I LOOOOOOVVVVEEE this product! My eyelashes are so long and thick - people ask me where I get my lashes done all the time and I tell them it's Revitalash!
I bought Revitalash after seeing the lashes of a friend grow like crazy. $145.00 is a lot to pay for a product so I wanted proof! I have been using this product for 12 weeks now and I love it! My lashes have never looked better. If you need proof as I did ,you are more than welcome to come by my Salon and see them for yourself. I work at MarinaBeach Hair in Marina Del Rey, in L.A. 310- 821-9161. Also , as another member mentioned the product does feel warm sometimes, but nothing that I was concerned about. The tube has lasted at least 3 months now, so it is also economical compared to lash extentions.
I Love Revitalash, it's a miracle product, having had extentions for awhile I will stick with revitalash.. My eyelash tech is wonderful but after awhile it's hard for your lashes to have glue on them all the time and after a few months I had super short lashes, now they are thick and beautiful. I am in love with this product.
Absolutely. I'm not one to fall for fat burners or magic wrinkle creams or anything else that sounds too good to be true, but when I saw Revitalash on the evening news, I had to try it. My grown daughter laughed at me when I told her how much I paid for something that sounded too good to be true. My eyelashes have always been so short and skimpy, but after about 2 months, the difference is incredible and very noticeable. They're so long at this point, I've cut back on how often I apply it. I will definitely continue to use this. And after seeing the difference in my lashes, my daughter asked for Revitalash for Christmas!
i don't understand how it works, but it works. i can't push my sunglasses all the way back on my nose b/c my lashes scrape against the lens. it has definitely added significant length to my eyelashes. i have had numerous people comment on my eyelashes & people have noticed the difference. i recommend this product.
I have seen this on tv ALL the time! I love talicka from sephora, I once had 3 tubes at a time, and that stuff works! My lashes looked friggin fantastic! I do like the lash fusion to like katie said, and it helps create an optimal environment for lash growth. i'm gonna get certified soon to be able to do lash extensions, and i'm flippin excited!!!!
I read somewhere this week that they have a hair treatment now,I wonder would it make hair grow a lot faster.
PotionPrincess♥
I would have a really hard time paying that much for a product. I have used Talika Lipocils with great results, and it only costs 30 or so dollars. My boyfriend actually said I had TOO many lashes after using it about one week. I'd skip the high priced version and try Talika first.
Lash extensions are very fun...but may not have permanant results. They also take a lot of care...and tent to get itchy sometimes. So if your eyes get irritated, try it out but be careful. My grandmother always taught me and told me that eye lashes DO grow back and she encouraged me to try her secrets. She would take a q-tip and dip it in vaselene. Now when i get the time, shich has been happening mor enad more, I tend to my lashes. And recently since I have switched makeup and been using vaselene at night before i go to bed i have recieved numerous comments on how long and full my lashes look. And a jor of VASELENE is way cheaper than the lash product above :)

Oh, also....try using the "hair, skin & nail" vitamins. you can find them at walmart, that may be another contributing factor :)

I used Jan Marini a few years ago before the original formula was discontinued, then tried Revitlash which did not work as well. But let's face it---Letisse is $120 and that is supposedly the medical answer to skimpy lashes. I have just begun to try Letisse a week ago so I will pst more.
I have only used Li-Lash and it really does work. The website address is http://lilash.com/ and the cost is $139 if I remember correctly. I have a girlfriend who lost all her lashes when she got cancer and received chemo. She had very, very barely-there lashes that wouldn't grow any longer. She'd been embarrassed for years. I bought her a tube as a gift and it works for her, also. They also make an eyebrow product which also works. I heard about Li-Lash before I saw where all these other lash lengthening products on the market. I can only speak from my experience but Li-Lash also curled my lashes so I never have to use an eyelash curler. Yay!
i'm always skeptical about this b/c a lot of the "magical" and super expensive treatments have some not so savory side effects for your eyes even if not fatal or malignant... i would give it some more time and just use mascaras like FiberWig that add fibers to your lashes to extend them or fake lashes... until science catches up with beauty and lets us be more vain a little safer :)

The June issue of Allure has an article about the new eyelash growth products. The article explains how they work and hinted that Revitalash was using the patented ingredient that the company Allergen discovered. Allergen makes Latisse. This "ingredient" was discovered because the glaucoma patients using a medicine all noticed that their eyelashes got really long. Allergen figured out what was causing the constant eye lash growth and patented it and then created Latisse with it. Latisse is actually cheaper than Revitalash because you can get a prescription for it... or something like that - GREAT article.
Ohmg yes I heard about this on the news and how they found this accidently. They also show some pictures of the people who had used it and it was just mindblowing.
I hope my Dr. is Latisse-friendly. I am off to see my ophthalmologist today to see if he will prescribe me Latisse. It seems like a lot of money to spend, but I happen to have it at the moment and my eyelashes are pretty sparse. From what I understand the main ingredient in Latisse is the same ingredient that used to be in Revitalash and Jan Marni, until Allergan sued and got the rights. Oh well, my search said that Latisse costs $120 for up to 4 months. That doesn't sound like that much more than the other formulas. Considering that I've worn contacts/glasses since I was 11 and have delt with eye allergies and other eye problems, I think I will feel more comfortable using it under a doctor's supervision. Has anyone else gotten Latisse yet?

My dermatologist gave me a years script for Latisse. It costs me $110.00 for 3mg. I had a Target new script coupon. I have been using for 2 weeks now and only see a marginal effect on my right lashes. My Dr. said it would take about 4 weeks to start noticing. The little tiny bottle comes with 60 sealed applicators, you are to use one per eye every night on the lash line. One drop per eye. This product will only last one month if used according to the perscription. Doc did say IT WORKS and after I have achieved the desired results, I will be able to cut down the application to once every few days to maintain the length. So, this is much more expensive than Revitalash. Personally, I trust my Doc and will continue treatment with a product APPROVED by the FDA.I will repost when the results are more noticable.
Got my Latisse prescription today! I am psyched to try it and I'll keep you girls posted.

Ha one more tip, when curling lashes, make sure the rubber is in place. so many of my girlfriends have snipped off lashes curling them with the horrid metal curlers haha.

The price is going down - so worth a try.
Revitalash is too pricey for me, but I'm trying Mavala's Eye Lite Double Lash. I don't have super high expectations for it, but even if it just helps me to lose fewer eyelashes, I'll be happy. I lose 2-3 a day it seems and if I could just keep those my eyelashes would be so much fuller!
I'm not really versed in revitalash but.....I do know a little about latisse. Latisse may be very similarly priced but you have to get a prescription for it. Latisse works by extending your lash growth cycle. AND it works!!!! The rep for allergan was in my work the other day and we were talking about the product and he said well you don't need it-your eyelashes are so long....little did he know that i was using it and that's why my eyelashes were so long!!!! I've heard great things on revitalash but i'm thinking you many be able to get the latisse for cheaper (if you have insurance) and/or you could check allergan's website for coupon offers.good luck
I read this yesterday and I can't stop thinking about it. It's way too expensive!! I'm going to ask my doctor for a prescription for Latisse. By the way, I read somewhere that it can cause your eyelids to darken. As anyone experienced this?
it seems kind of pricey
Oh, also....try using the "hair, skin & nail" vitamins. i bought my at Target for 6 dollars, and am will to try any thing tho grow my hair
I do have my favorites but I would be more than willing to give this a chance. It sounds wonderful. I have long lashes already, I know, but it's from my fathers side. He had 10 brothers and 1 sister and they all had extremely long, black eyelashes. I think because they're French with a tad of Blackfoot Indian. I'm not sure what the correllation is, but it seems all the children in the family from my fathers brothers followed with the lashes. I am happy about it, but only certain mascaras will work. When you're in your teens, your lashes are long, thick and black, at least this was the case for me. Now that I am older, they are still long, but they are a bit lighter in color. I mentioned that I have been using L'Oreal Lashout since I was 15 years old. I still use that particular brand and I know because of my many brand testing, I will never give that particular brand up. I added an excellent one from Chanel called Inimitable volume, length curl separation. Excellent choices, don't clump, easy removal and staying power is excellent. Actually the L'Oreal staying power is better, so expensive department store brands are great but are not always the best. I will say this Chanel is great though, so it comes in my definite second. It all depends on the person of course, just as it does with perfume, different chemistry. I wanted to rate some things that have been out and that I discovered on my lust for cosmetics and especially face creams. Any beauty products, it's great to rate good finds. As I was on my quest for whatever I went shopping for yesterday, I happened upon the makeup department because I'm drawn like a magnate. Doesn't matter where I am, I am there! Anyway I discovered and not 100% sure if this has been rated, but I thought I would give it a try because it sounded like it was healthy for the eyelashes. It's the new L'Oreal Extra Volume Hydra Collagen Plumping Mascara in blackest black. I tried it because it said collagen. Collagen is good I thought, so I wondered what it would do for my lashes. It states that the collagen plumps it from the inside. Now I did find a tad of a problem. The brush is too thick and hard to maneuver, it does smear, my lower lashes are longer and it smudged under my eyes. (racoon look, maybe best for Halloween)..there were some clumps, when it states on the box there is no clumping. The only really good thing about it is it is easy removable at night, and in the morning when I got up my lashes were silky, smooth and yes, they were plumper. Sound strange? but it was true. Seems they were thicker even though I thoroughly washed the mascara off the night before. You never know. This was my experience with it. I'm going to rate some other finds in the other areas of skin care.
