CAT COSMETICS SILKPURRFECTION PRIMER !!

Sun, 03/18/2007 - 8:46pm
  • Face

The frisky and fabulous Gillion from Cat Cosmetics sent Meg's Makeup out some of Cat's Silk Purrfection Primer to test. I'm going out of order of products on my schedule to review. I want our testers to review this primer now because Cat has a 25% OFF special going on right now. The price of this Primer is normally $25, if you like what the ladies have to say about this item, then I'd go get it pretty fast because after the discount it's only $18.74. I know their are tons of primer devotees out there that love their Smashbox Photofinish (I love it too)! With this special, the Silk Purrfection is half the price of the photofinish so you might be able to save yourself some cake if you're up for trying new things!

Before Meg's Makeup I never thought about primer. I didn't really get what it did and it seemed like just extra money to spend for a clear face gel. Ater experiencing the difference I will never go without. It actually makes my foundation last longer. I don't have to reapply because the primer really holds my makeup in place. My foundation glides on after application and I don't need to use as much foundation on my sponge.

There's a problem I'm having right now. I'm discovering so many "can't live without" products from Megsmakeup that I am running out of face and body. I feel like Steve Martin in the scene from "The Jerk" when he's getting kicked out of house.." I don't need anything except this (he picks up the ashtray) and that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game, the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game and the remote control, and that's all I need. And these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one - I need this"!

That's what I am exactly like right now trying to pick the things I can't be without in the morning. My cabinets are overflowing with products all near and dear. Cat-stop inventing! Seriously, you're killing me with kindness! I can't be without your meow-za, open sesameow, smolder and now this!

Here's what Cat claims about her SILK PURRFECTION PRIMER.." This is one item you truly should have, especially if you have tortured dry skin. But be prepared, your skin will never have felt like this--like velvet! I use this whether I'm using makeup or not. Because this is an excellent makeup primer, it will make your makeup last for hours and keep it looking great. I use it on my lips, my face, my hands--even my hair every now and then. It comes in a flat handy tube that fits easily in your purse. This is a must-have for any princess wanting a smooth, even skin tone. A little goes a long way, so this should last you a while ".
Ladies, please postif you're willing to look like a "Jerk" for Cat's Silk Purrfection!

Wow, this primer was downright incredible! I have had some funky breakouts lately on my chine and around my mouth, but with a tiny application of Cat Cosmetic's Primer my skin was looking smooth and ready for my foundation. The ability to fill in both minor and more serious skin imperfections impressed the hell out of me. Not to mention the silky smooth feel of Cat's primer. It made my skin silky smooth and created the perfect canvas for foundation that stayed on all day. The other thing I noticed was that not only did my foundation adhere well, but it retained it's matte finish longer then it usually does. Cat's Cosmetics has scored a winner with this product!!!

I was a primer whore before I tried this one. I tried Smashbox (regular and tinted), Sue Devitt's primer...Hell, if General Mills made one, I'd have it for breakfast.I had just purchased Smashbox's primer with purple tint when I got my hands on Cat's primer. So I decided to do a split face test. (like the old dandruff shampoo commercials where they do half the head in one shampoo and it tingles...nevermind...). Right off the bat, the first thing I noticed (other than the color!)was the huge difference in texture. Smashbox was downright soupy compared to Cat. Cat's primer was denser, but absorbed just as quickly, and I used less. The tint made no difference at all. And I was looking for it. I looked under direct sunlight, under bathroom light, under the oh-so-flattering fluorescents at the office...not a dang thing different. Of course the real reason I use primer is to gloss over the crevices that have lined my eyes and mouth after I turned 30. There was still some foundation that settled in after a while, but still a vast improvement over foundation-coated bare skin. And then there is the issue of my temperamental skin. My face stages an all out protest complete with acne sit-ins when I change or introduce any new product. Apparently my skin doesn't share my commitment phobia, because it wants me to pledge my entire life to one cleanser and one moisturizer. But it didn't even flinch with the new primer. I felt sneaky and victorious! So here's the nutshell...if you don't use primer, learn to love it. It should be a staple as much as Wet & Wild blue eyeshadow was in your 1984 Caboodle kit (you know you did). And if you are new to primer or an old primer hag, like me, give Cat's a try. It is really different than the other primers on the market, and very versatile.

price correction and more info on Cat Cosmetics litterbox/clearance items and more: oops, the correct price on the 3 diff color lip gloss refills is $6.00 each. also, after returning to the site to shop after posting here i found more info and deals. for example, "Catskers" a compact combo of their bestselling bronzer & blush colors(Catnip & Whiskers) is specially priced at $19.95 (reg $26.00) AND they include their sable powder brush FREE for the entire month of august, all of which is a $38.00 value! not only that, i checked both bronzer and blush when sold separately and they were each .11 ounces, whereas the combo special is .34 ounces! and i don't know about you all, but i found that a unexpectedly surprising bonus as well! additionally, the 3 half price lip gloss colors are some of their best sellers (Caramel, Roar & Senseless Beauty), and when you buy either the 3 or 6 well empty cases for customized sets, you will still get the cases FREE when you fill them with the half-priced glosses just as you would if you were purchasing the same colors for the full price of $12 each! NOTE: there was an odd occurance that i'm sure can be straightened out if you contact them though. the problem was that when i placed an empty 3 well case in my cart and added 3 of the same color lip gloss refills, accordingly, the price of the case automatically adjusted from $12.00 to $0.00. however, when i added combinations of the 3 colors to my cart, the case price only adjusted to $4.00 rather than zero! hope this was helpful.

"If you've got it in the shop, put it in the window!" I think this product should definate-ly be in the window, front and center. I have never used a face primer before, I am on a budget, so the bare essentials are what I want to spend my money on. Concealer, blush, mascara, and gloss was my mother of 4 routine. I also couldn't imagine spending $25 on one item.. How wrong was I-now I can't seem to get the same look or feel without the primer. It comes out thick but smooths on your face evenly and seems to glide over your face. Cat left no residue feel on your fingers-no perfuming smell, and a slight shimmer. Wayne, (my handyman junkie) says "it is like priming the walls before the paint." Any fine lines and rough spots dissapear and prepare the face for whatever-I don't use fountain so I didn't get that "mask" look-it all blended nicely and the feel of my face was pure silk. I definaltely recommend this product.

When I became a Megs tester I didn't really wear foundation, so needless to say I had no idea what foundation primer was! Have times changed! I loved the Smashbox Photofinish so I was excited to try the Silk Purrfection. Its fantastic! It seems smoother or softer or silkier then the Smashbox. Its like a gel that turns to powder without anypowder residue. I never would have thought to use it on another part of my body, but loved the idea about putting it on your hands. I did that before I did this review and my hand is SO soft. I can't see where I put it on, but can feel it. This is a great product.

I was skeptical of this product at first. When I put a small bead of the primer on my hand, it had the consistency of petroleum jelly. I was a little apprehensive to put it on my face... but for Meg, I did. Much to my surprise, the primer absorbed into my skin very nicely and quickly. My skin felt soft and even - I love it! I put it to the true test... to see if it would really hold my makeup on through out a busy, long day... And it did! My makeup looked almost as fresh at the end of the day as it did at the start! Thanks, Meg, for introducing me to this product and to Cat Cosmetics!

I love this product!!!!!! I had this once before and loved it. I do not know why I never ordered it again? I love this product as a primer and also just to wear it over your moisurizer. It makes your skin feel so soft. I have dry skin so my face loves this. As I have matured I have learned to take better care of my skin. I will definately be ordering this again!!!! You only get one face:)

I have never used a primer before. I rarely wear foundation and have always thought it was a waste of my money. However, I tried it and was amazed at the affect. I only had to use a very small amount, which covered everywhere easily. It didn’t leave my face feeling greasy or like I was wearing a mask, which was my fear, and what little makeup I wore stayed on much longer. It also made my skin look younger and firmer. I will definitely use primer from now on.

I was a skeptic. I didn't like other primers at all so I assumed I wasn't going to like this one either (no offense to Cat cause I happen to think she's a genius). Oh was I wrong! I'm not a big foundation wearer. It's really only a going out sort of thing for me cause I luckily have pretty ok skin. But I'm ading this to the primping routine pronto! It creates a perfect canvas for your makeup. Fills in lines, softens imperfections and the makeup just glided on. Amazing! And the main thing for me was that other primers made me feel really greasy, especially since I have oily skin. But not this. It's smooth rather than slick. Love it!

I had never tried a foundation primer before Megs-Makeup. Now it is a part of myeveryday routine. I was hooked on the smashbox one, but I have to say, I am hookedon Silk Purrfection now! It is so silky smooth and my make-up has never looked better, or stayed put longer. Everything of Cats that I have tried, I have lovedand been hooked on. My foundation just glides on after applying this. FABULOUS product that I feel I can not live without now ;).

I have been using this product for 3 years. When I first discovered it, I ordered it for all the woman in my life! It's brilliant. So silky smooth with just a hint of shimmer. It can be worn with or without foundation. It works amazingly under cat's foundations, creating a smooth canvas for make-up to glide on. Highly reccomended!

I do not wear foundation on a daily basis, but when I do a good primer is a must for me. I am one of those people whose make-up just disappears as the day/evening goes on. Cat Cosmetics Silkpurrfection Primer is by far the best I’ve ever used. As others have mentioned, the one thing that is most noticeable is how smooth and silky this makes your skin. It left my face feeling so great! Miraculously, it does this without any greasy feeling or adding shine to your skin. I’ve found this primer helps in applying all types of make-up, from dry mineral powders to liquid foundations to cream blushes and powder eye shadow - it does it all! Make-up was easier to apply and blend. Plus, I saw an improvement in the longevity of make-up. It last all day/night without any smears or creases. Cat scores again!

I am a frequent foundation wearer (..can't leave the house without it!), so I was excited to try this product. By day end, my foundation seems wear off and collect/cake in every little crease on my combination skin. I've tried Smashbox and Era Classified primer, but this product stands over the others! It's smooth and silky (but not oily) texture gives my foundation the "day-long" staying power that it desparately needs! This product is definitely going to become part of my daily makeup routine -- especially at that amazing price.

I couldn’t wait to review this product!! First of all Cat is one of the nicest people I have met. Spending time with her you come to realize how much she cares about her products and the women that she has created them for. And to me that speaks volumes! When I was at Meg’s helping with the mailing of all our testing products Meg insisted that ChiChi and I try this on our hand............oh is was so lovely! At one point in the night in found myself subconsciously rubbing the spot on my hand that I had applied the Silkpurrfection Primer to. I could not believe how soft it was!! It truly did feel like velvet. Not only have I been using it on my face every morning before I apply my make up (creates I wonderful silky canvas to apply your make up to), but I also use it on my hands. Next I’m going to try it on my lips. Girls with the 25% off sale Cat’s having all I can say is go to the “buy it” button and buy away, you won’t be disappointed!!!

I have been using silk Purrfection for about 3 years and would never think of going with out it. I can get by on less foundation and have all day staying power. No little lines, no dry skin and that smooth perfect feel. I guess I must be an addict. I also use it on my hair. Makes is shine and frizz free. Got this hint from the lady of hints, Gillian herself. I also use this under eye makeup and I can have my Cat Cosmetics eye makeup last a solid 12 hours without a touch up or looking tired. This product is best when using a very small amount. If you used too much you will know quickly. Start with a small amount, a little smaller than a pencil eraser and if you need more add.

This product was just okay for me. It did a respectable job of keeping my foundation in place, but I didn't experience any oil control or wrinkle fill in benefits from it. Now that so many companies have gotten into producing primers, it seems like everyone has upped their game, and now offer amazing feautures like SPF and bronzing tints in their products. It seems to me that Silkpurrfection is more of a basic, "first generation" product, and now there better alternatives on the market. I prefer Smashbox Photofinish, but Colorscience Line Tamer is my favorite primer, at the moment.
