LIPSTICK QUEEN SAINT & SINNER LIPSTICKS !!
The very glam and fabulous Poppy from Lipstick Queen sent Meg's Makeup some of her ultra-exclusive and jetset lipsticks out to try. Lipstick Queen sells tons of their lipsticks out of the uber posh Barney's and you know Kate & Posh have more then a few of these dandies in their designer handbags.
I received "Rouge" in Saint. You see Poppy's got this great sinner/saint category going on. The rouge color in the saint line is airy and light and precious like a saint can be (don't ask how I ever ended up picking that category). The rouge color in sinner is more like a fun sinner should be, indulgent and darker and luscious! Why did I pick saint again? Basically sinner is more matte then the sheerer saint
Can I wear red lips? Don't old women wear red lips? Oh wait. I am old. I never felt older in my thirty years then I did Tuesday night at a karaoke bar. Yes, it was karaoke night. I'm not a karaok'ier mostly because I'm tone deaf but still i'm just really not a singer. Not even in the shower. I'm a borderline hummer alone in my car at best.
Feymisszoe invited me to her bar and I was going to have other friends there and she bartends and o.k. I like to drink. I showed up and feymisszoe poured my friend and I tons of wine. Tons. It was great. I reclined in my pals car's shotgun on the way home and slept (passed out).
The thing is I never really noticed the HUGE gap between say, 24 years old and being 30. These youngsters were belting out karaoke song after song. They were singing "Baby Hit Me One More Time" and "Sexy Back" and songs that were up for this years Grammy's. I mean the stuff they were crooning was stuff that came out like two years ago. Where was the old Madonna?
After more Pinot and slight prodding I decided I too was a singing sensation. I demanded I perform "Kiss Me Deadly" by Lita Ford. I was twelve, Lita had big hair and bigger boobs and was a glam rocker, I loved her. At twelve I had flat hair, flat boobs and glasses. Everyone loved Lita Ford, right? Umm wrong. 99% of the crowd was in diapers when I was in seventh grade
I belted out "Uhh huh, it ain't no big thing" to a crowd of people I could have babysat for. I am officially hanging up my mic. However, Magnolia in Pasadena is a very yummy and great place to be. My fried chicken, mac n cheese and fried green tomatoes were tasty delish and the bartender is the best in the world! A true glam Megs Makeup babe!
I wore my Satin Rouge that night and while I felt really old, my lips looked fantastic. Not an old lady red, a young and sheer sexy hint of naughtiness. It's package was a simple yet elegant gold case. The formula glided on my lips like a silky satin and the performance (the lipstick's not mine) was top notch!
Here's what Poppy, The Lipstick Queen says about her lipsticks " Lipstick Queen is not your average brand.... Everything you see, feel, touch and experience with it comes directly from me to you. I am still not a chemist, make up artist or anything else. I am just like you... I am a customer and as a customer I want something truly special... So that is what I put into every shade, texture and finish. A very special eye and a very committed soul . "
Ladies please let me know if you'd rather laugh with the sinners then cry with the saints, I probably should just learn my lesson and stop with anything pre 1987.
Ladies please post if you're a sinner or a saint and what shade you received!

I love the texture of this lipstick..sooo smooth! I chose the Saint Rouge....it's a bit dark for me but nice for a night out. My lips feel so soft and I don't feel like I'm even wearing lipstick!
i just received my lipsticks yesterday and i put it on this morning. i LOVE them! i got rose saint and pink sinner. i feel so lady like with the pink sinner lipstick and so sexy with the rose saint (isnt it supposed to be the other way around?) i am going to buy a more daring color soon....VERY soon! the texture of the lipsticks is smooth as silk, i love that its not obnoxious in fragrance, lets see if it wears long on my lips...if not....who cares?! i love it!
Hey-these were just featured in the new Lucky with Parker Posey on the cover. In "the beauty closet" editors page of Jean Godfrey-June's.How hip is megsmakeup to feature it first?
okay, what am I doing wrong? I think this goes on really weird. Like it doesn't "take" to whole sections of my lip. And, I feel like I delve into darker shades more than many of the testers that I know personally and even I find it dark. I chose Saint specifically because I wanted something more on the shimmer side than the matte but I see no shimmer. I do like the fact that it's a smoother, better stain than the stains but still...I feel like I'm missing some secret party. I'm the first one to be interested if Barney's is interested but...I'm refraining from a reco because I feel like it's me that's not getting something.
Saint or Sinner, a true fan of sheer lipgloss but willing to take the daring plunge for a daring vampy matte shade just for the name, I find myself thinking Shakespeare: "What's in a name?" Everything my dear, everything. If not just for the name, I recommend this product for it's long-lasting stain effect. Not as sticky, tacky as regular old red lipstick, it's a trendy spin on a classic xox
I used to wear a lot of dark lipstick. I don't know if it's getting older or living in Southern California that the last few years I have to say I've really switched to gloss. I'm in to the more natural look. However I do love to be glamorous and when I tried Saint Rouge I fell in love with it. It's so sheer it's almost gloss like. It gives your lips a youthful rouge. It doesn't have that hard lip line like when you use a heavy dark lipstick. It stays where you put it lasts way longer than any gloss you put on your lips. It doesn't have that waxy taste or feel that some lipsticks do. I think you can use it day or night (at night I use my lip liner). You can even put a gloss over it. It's a new must have for me!
Oh my god, I'm in love! I just met the best lipstick ever. I know, I know. They can be dry, they can bleed off your lips-but this one's different! I got the Saint and the Sinner (no, I'm not special. I just traded out with another reviewer. Ok, I begged another reviewer.) and I think I've got a love triangle on my hands. The Sinner is delicious. Deep, beautiful, matte yet somehow creamy color that feels like velvet on your lips. And it wears forever with no bleeding. The first reddish color that I've ever been able to wear during the day because it's really refined and not at all garrish. The Saint is sweet. Sheer, healthy color with easy application. Sheer lipsticks are simple, no liner, you don't even really need a mirror. Like lip gloss with out the stickiness. And this may be be the most perfect shade I've ever used, hard to describe, but goes with everything. 2 good things about both the formulas-no scent. I hate lipsticks that smell! And the packaging-forget about it-gorgeous! An Art Deco delight. If you love lipstick or even if you just haven't met one you love yet-I highly reccomend By Poppy. These are PERFECT!
i've never tried these, but am extremely tempted to just based on the packaging alone! these look gorgeous, and I love the gold metal casing..
I haven't tried this lipstick either but the packaging is so mod. The crimson color looks pretty for the fall and I can't wait to try this out!

Nice and pretty box, have not tried and would love to try
I love Poppy products! I was a huge fan of hers back in the 90's and was so disappointed when they were discontinued, so as soon as I saw Poppy was back in business I went out and bought some of her products. To my delight they're just as great as they used to be. I have a sinner and a saint lipstick and love them both. The sinners are great for when I don't want to be bothered with reapplying my lipstick and the saints are great for when I want a sheer wash of moisturising colour.
