The always sparkling and glistening reps from Dr. Pia Lieb sent Meg’s Make-Up some of her Sexy Smile to try.
This lip gloss has amazing claims, it can gloss your lips, whiten your teeth and get rid of bad breath. Does it also cure cancer?
Dr. Pia Lieb is one of those uber-educated, fancy-dance Manhattan Dentists that has a celebrity following, is written up in INSTYLE and is pretty famous for creating some of today's hottest smiles.
Dr. Lieb sent us Sexy Smile, a dual long lasting lip gloss that has a teeth whitener on the other end. Not only are the glosses long-wearing but they are able to give you fresh breath. Dr. Lieb even made sure that the gloss had a blue-base (instead of a yellow one) to keep your teeth looking white.
O.K. This is a true story, I swear. The pictures are in my modeling book from my other, younger life. I did an ad campaign for a very high-profile dentist in NYC. His tagline was "SMILES ARE ROMANTIC", he hired me, paid for a photo shoot and ran me in his national campaign. The kicker? He chose a photo of me where I was not smiling. My mother got the biggest kick out of that and wanted to send my ad into Jay Leno.
I'll never understand that, It's like choosing a 300 lb. woman as your model and having your campaign be..."Skinny is Fabulous"! Then I got mad. Was I the 300 lbs. woman? Was he trying to say "Smiles are Romantic...unlike this stern ice queen-see photo". Like, "Oh, Boy! Don't look like this ruffian...Smiles are Romantic"! Had I inadvertently signed up to be the “before” shot?
I was paid well, I guess (like Paula Abdul says) Any Publicity is Good Publicity! However, this ad was printed everywhere and I still don't get it. I may have 3 more glasses of wine and call him to find out what he was talking about.

The ladies do bring up a good point, I opened the whitener side upside down and it spilled all over my hands. It seems obvious not to do this, but it wasn't cause I did it twice! Some sort of stopper inside the tube would be a great addition. I still like this stuff though...
The concept of this product is great! However the packaging of this product is well, crap. When I first twisted the cap white bubbles oozed from the whitener portion going all over my hands after using the whitener and putting the brush back in the tube more oozing. The whitener is just so so to me, I think others such as white strips are less messy are much cleaner to use and more effective. The gloss was just ok for me, I got Cafè latte it has a sparkle but is a little dry. It's winter in PA so moisture is best for me right now. I like Blus Lee Lee think we have reviewed many other glosses that are far better.
I loved this product the minute I got it. I loved the idea, I loved the color. I loved it so much that I put it on before heading out for an interview and popped it in my pocket for touch ups only to discover that half way through my interview, it had broken in my jacket pocket and leaked all over the (very expensive) jacket. Not only was the jacket a mess but the product was completely unusable. Not happy.
Wow, something out of the ordinary.. I was not sure what to think about this dual sided “Sexy Smile” lip gloss/teeth whitener at first sight. After reading what to do, I opened it -chancing which end would undo its tight grip first. Unfortunately, klutzo here spilt a little of the whitening gel, and there really isn’t much to spare. I applied as directed to a few of my more visible teeth and thought this is nice, I think. I couldn’t tell from one application what transpired! Oh, I know it takes time, and more gel.. After that I applied the Cafè Latte pretty lip gloss. This part of the dynamic dual, I did like. I liked the color and its glistening effect- lovely. Lips need to look nice and so do your teeth, but honestly this product is not something I would buy. What if you had big choppers, the whitening gel side would not last long and you’d be left with only the lip gloss.Perhaps there should be a way to separate the product when you run out of the gel. I suggest making a refill available.. Those who haven’t had their teeth professionally whitened might like this for a quick touch up. It was a bit too gimmicky for me.
I liked this a lot. An immediate "oooh" for the beautiful color and the fact that is was a dual product. Plus, a real twist on the dual product (rather clever!) The tooth whitener is great. I've been on a tea stint so I've been using this right after my afternoon cup, cause god knows I've seen those denture commercials where they're always soaking things in tea (if only I was on a blueberry stint, than I'd really be putting the whitener to the test). And it really works. I don't think this is the kind of product that removes old stains. But when used right away, after eating or drinking, the tiny bubbles brightened my teeth right away and prevented new stains. Plus, it's minty. But really, it's the other side that had me very happy. What a gorgeous color! It's Cafe Latte, a perfect deep pink with silver shimmer. And the whole blue based color over yellow based color is genius and true. A very smile flattering color. Great formula too, not too sticky, though it stuck around for hours on my lips. I could talk about lipgloss all day. And this is one I could talk about for a week! A big ol' yes from me.
I like the concept of this, but I’m not sure I would buy this once my tester runs out. The lip gloss in Cafè Latte is pretty, but we’ve tested other glosses I like just as much. For those of you that have a “memory” issue I can’t remember once you put the whitener on am I suppose to keep my lips off my teeth for a certain amount of time? Help me Chi Chi and DesertDoll........... When I’ve put it on I’ve found that if the whiting part of the tube isn’t up right, right before I put it on, the whiting product will ooze out the top when the brush goes back in. I think I’ll stick with my Crest Whiting Strips............
I am a lip gloss lover. I liked the texture of this gloss, although the color was slightly too metallic. The teeth whitener part did not make a big difference. I can see how it gives you slightly fresh breath but I confess my teeth did not seem any whiter. I would buy the gloss by itself but the whitener part seems like a gimick.
Well, I thought the concept was interesting- however in reality the way this productis packaging can potentially cause problems. There is no copy on the whitening portionthat says "tooth whitener". The average person may think it's a gloss to put on topof the other color, or just a clear option. I did like the color of the lipgloss- thatwas fine. However, for teeth whitening, I like to think of that as a separate beautytreatment- and I am all about multi-tasking -not just in this area. I also think thatthe tubes need to be clearly marked. As a former beauty marketer, I know that peoplemany times do not read the instructions.
I think desertdoll has the right idea with this one. The teeth whitening part of this duel product seems more suitable for use directly after eating or drinking a staining type of food, rather than using to try and remove old stains. I like to use this when I’ve finished my morning cup (or 5) of coffee. It brightens and refreshes my teeth and keeps any new coffee stains from setting into my teeth. Plus the tube is compact and portable - a pretty ingenious product.On to the gloss, I also receive Cafè Latte - which isn’t brown at all, it is a nice, shimmery pink. The color is light and natural but there is a lot of sparkle. I like it. The gloss is on the sticky side, but stays in place and lasts for hours. If you are an all day coffee drinker, I would highly recommend this product for use in between trips to Starbucks.
As a sidebar, I noticed that the white bristles came off and found their way into my teeth when applying the whitening gel. I know this is not supposed to happen. I am hoping that this was an isolated incident, because it wasn’t pleasant fishing them out of my mouth. I checked the brush portion and it could easily be pulled out and in. It could’ve been that the one I had a very loose fitting. Lastly, I found the whitening gel is too noticeable to others when you apply this. I suggest checking your teeth out before venturing off into a meeting or not to smile right away at anyone, because the peroxide is working and looks quite frothy.. Someone noticed my teeth had been bubbling from this and gave me a look of concern! No, I’m okay, it’s the teeth whitening gel...
