SMASHBOX MINI LIP AND EYE PALETTE !!

Sun, 12/10/2006 - 10:29pm
  • Eyes

The always mod Nina sent along Smashbox Mini Lip and Eye Palette, it came in the same shipment as the Totally Fab Lip Gloss Collection. Opening both of these holiday special Mod Chic Limited Edition Kits brought tons of "oohs" and "aahs". The packaging is just sexy. Multifunctional, dazzling colors in the sleekest holders ever. The Lip Gloss collection was already reviewed and was a win. Will this palette also be a "must have"?

The palette reminds me of an ultra-glam little black book. It's the perfect to-go item. You know what else is a perfect to-go item? The glosses, Cat Cosmetics Open Sesameow brushes, Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes Mascara, Jelly Pong-Pong's Bronzer, Besame's dual action eye and lipliners, Boscia's Blotting tissues and Bourjois's cellphone gloss to go.

Yup, all this travel size enjoyment is making my cosmetic case bulge at the seams! My make-up mess use to be just contained to my vanity sink. Now it has been following me like a shadow (shadow as in the groundhog kind-not as in shimmery powder).

I have since down scaled! Thanks to The Smashbox Mini Lip and Eye Palette, I have been able to retire most of the above items back to my powder room! With four stunning neutral eyeshadows, one dark enough to line the lids and two fantastic gloss colors all in one easy book that can fit into a pocket it wasn't too hard a sacrifice. As if that wasn't complete enough, Smashbox even thought to include a great double ended tool. One end is a handy lip brush the other side is a practical smolder tip for the shadows. The price for this beauty is $25.00! It would make a fantastic secret Santa gift or a lovely present for any make-up lover with-out breaking the bank.

Here is what Smashbox has to say..."It’s just so Quadrophenia. This super-sleek palette gives you an ultra mod look in a flash. Perfectly portable for quick touch ups day or night, this case contains four velvety smooth powder shadows, two sheer lip glosses, and a mini double-ended brush for eye shadow application and smudging. Shades include: EYE SHADOWS in mink, bronze, pearly white, charcoal. LIP GLOSSES in sheer honey and pinky brown".

Ladies, please post if Smashbox's palette is an all-in-one? Can I save my Gucci cosmetics case or am I going to have to keep lugging tons of makeup around and resort to a Ziploc baggie ? I now shudder at the thought.

This is my I'd have to start drinking at noon product in the profile. This is the best product I've gotten. Sorry Ole! I raved about this and even got two as gifts for friends. The gloss, the shadows are devine, can be worn by anyone, anytime. Hard to imagine that a company didn't come up with the perfect color combo regardless of skintone earlier. Anyway LOVE LOVE LOVE this. I am trying to find the glosses in tubes from them, but have not had success yet.

I love this little palette and carry it in my purse at all times. The lip products includedare the yummiest ever -- moisturizing and glossy, with lots of pigment and staying power for their neutral-ness. I love, love, love the rose-brown and use it so often it's almost gone! (In fact, after I gotthis and the Smashbox Fab glosses in the cigarette case I went on a Smashbox spree at Sephora!)It's a handy little purse size goodie--with super wearable eye and lip colors of very highquality. It's nice that a brush is included (though I'm not crazy about the smudger)but I would love it if a lip brush were in there, too. Like the Fab glosses, my maincomplaint is that there's no mirror! And all the room in the world for it! (Another thingto mention is that the magnet isn't that strong. I threw the palette in my purse and it cameopen and my keys gouged out some of the product -- now I carry it in my cosmetic bag in mypurse).Otherwise, it's absolutely indispensible and one of my favorite palettes -- if not products --ever!

This is a fabulous palette! Beebee is right, there's not a clunker in here. Most of my other collections have one (ugly) lonely color that hasn't been touched. This is 4 beautiful wearable colors. Smashbox makes such great eye shadows. I love all their products, but it's their eye shadows that I buy over and over. The black shadow seems to be creamy as well, which makes it perfect for lining. Great brush too! Good quality bristles on one end and a pointy sponge smudger on the other. One complaint, I got eye shadow speckles all over my lip glosses and they stick on them like glue. Maybe I'm messy. But a black speckled lip gloss bums me out. The colors are beautiful though. Love the case too. Puffy black patent leather. Very Mod. Another winner from Smashbox!

Count me as another fan of this smashing palette. All the colors are not only wearable but they are my "go-to" colors. I just returned from a trip to NYC and this little baby stashed in my bag was the secret weapon. I have not had any problems with the liner in my gloss so far (which is a shock.) But, oh how I longed for the inside to have a mirror.

When we received this great little wallet of beauty I was so excited!! The first time I used it I loved it. The eye showdown colors are lovely, and with the brush that comes with it they go on so smooth. It made me want to go out and buy more Smashbox make up brushes! The sponge liner applicator works well, just be sure to tap before you apply, otherwise you’ll have black specks on your face. Like desertdoll I got the some of the black liner in my gloss and it’s a real drag to try and get it out of the glosses. Also, make sure you wrap the liner side of the dual brush with tissue or you’ll have black shadow all over your hand. Now that I’ve worked out the kinks I’m loving this set. I’ll be on a 3 week vacation this Christmas so this will be a perfect item for me to take with me!!

What a gorgeous little collection! Smashbox knows how to put a palette together - there are four really wearable eye shadows and two glosses. I love both of the soft brown eye shadows for an easy day look, they are fast to apply, blend well and should be flattering to almost anyone. Like beebee I adore the slightly shimmering white powder to brighter the eye. It sounds silly but I've been scraping the bottom of a discontinued white powder while searching high and low for a replacement that was just right. Not too shimmery/not to matte. This one is just right! Also, included are two natural hued lip glosses (one peachy, one pinkish). Both are great worn alone during the day or layered for a night out. The packaging is cute, a small, soft patent leathery book-like case. All in all, this will make a great, little stocking stuffer!

I travel for a living and I don't ever check luggage. EVER. But no matter how long or short, carryon luggage is well, limiting and I really have to think my product strategy. Yes, I wrote "product strategy." Anyway, I'm fine with less is more so long as the less accomplishes the same or better results as the more. Smashbox made a smashing success with this palette. In lieu of my 3 shadow pots plus gloss, I can slip this slim goody into my bag and have all the key colors at hand. No duds here. Wearable, pretty colors that suit most skin tones. Agree with the comments above--with any combo palette, you have to be careful not to mix. Small price to pay for convenience. And the price? Sold!

Bunny brings up a good point. Why doesn't Smashbox add their special edition colors into their line?! I fell in love with an eye shadow called "smashing deadline" from one of their sephora collections, the perfect shimmery peach/pink. It's like Stila "Kitten" (the best base shadow color) but even better. BUT, I can't buy it anywhere now that the collection is gone! I love special editions, but what a tease to not be able to get a shade later....

I joined this group not only because of all the cool women here, but also because I am so tired of spending money on products that don't work as advertised and some just plain suck - no matter how much or how little you spend. I need real girlfriend advice! So when I read this review I ran right out to buy the Smashbox lip & eye palette and it is just the best. The colors are beautiful, go with everything and stay put. The best part is that this nifty little kit has replaced a bunch of stuff in my oversized makeup bag I carry in my purse. Buy it!

i love this palette. it has everything you need and it's in a sleep little package. i bring it with me everywhere and it's perfect for a retouch after work. i never know what hot business man i'll be seatednext to on the commutor bus. i love the eyeshadow colors, they're the perfect neutrals, the slate eyeliner really makes your eyes pop,and the lip colors are the perfect combination of lip gloss and lip stick, and best of all they are the perfect natural lip color that i am always searching for. the only thing that could make it more perfect is if it had a mirror on the other side, it was sort of a pain to have to haul out another pocket mirror while balancing that on my lap. and it could come witha little lip brush. you have to put the lipgloss on with your finger. and if i could find the same palette with blush in it that's all you would need for traveling.

You know, i'm not a huge makeup person; i usually use a little mascara and lipgloss, but boy did i dig this perfect size kit from smashbox. the glosses are sheer and smooth; just the way i like it. i experimented it on top of some matted lipstick and it gave me a different look that i can use at night time. ....best thing about the lipgloss, it's so neutral it makes me feel so natural and not made up.On the eye shadow, the colors are so perfect i started wearing them daily. I'm totally in to this kit;but i agree with the rest of the girl....it needs a mirror! and possibily more of it!
