Magic Of Aloe Proto-Collagen Moisturizer!
The magnificent PR Reps for Magic Of Aloe sent us their Proto-Collagen moisturizer. It claims to be a nutritional Aloe based collagen moisturizer that will provide a flawless finish to your complexion. May be used with or without foundation.
I have been taught that you need to look for long, confusing ingredients for face creams to work. Scientific ingredient names like Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Copper Pesticides, Hyaluronic Acid and N6-furfuryladenine. Names that you're a little afraid to pronounce in company. Names that could be found in a dirty bomb. If it's strong enough to nuke L.A. it must be strong enough to blast these fine lines from my face! Nature be damned!
Imagine my surprise getting a bottle of face cream called "Magic Of Aloe".
I am always suspect of a bottle who has ingredients I can easily say and have heard of before. This company doesn't even claim the aloe is from a remote land, untouched by man, bred from the rarest Aloe plant. It just says "Aloe".
Ladies, are we really back to basics? What about the acids? If this whole "keep it simple" approach does the job then there's a greenhouse I need to be buying soon. Please post if the aloe in this bottle was a true abracadabra!!

I was a little nervous to use this product at first, simply because of the fact that it's key incredient is aloe. When I have used aloe based products in the past, they usually tend to be extremely sticky and make my skin feel stiff. I've been using this product day and night since I recieved it and to my surprise I experienced the complete opposite. My skin felt smooth, soft, and non-sticky or greasy, which for me are the most important things I look for in a facial cream. My skin also appeared to have a natural glow to it after applying it and also worked as an excellent primer for foundation and bronzer. I also loved the fact that the dispenser itself allowed for the right amount to be released so that it avoided me from over-applying the product.
I have to say that this product was just OK. There was nothing special about it to make me want to give up my existing moisturizer. On the positive side, it was light and non-greasy, which is goodfor summer. I don't think that it would do anything for my skin in the winter and fall, because myskin requires a moisturizer that has a heavier consistency. Also, it did not contain any sunscreen in it, which is a big negative for me. I want an all-in-one moisturizer that contains sunscreen and has more moisturizing power.
This moisturizer could not have arrived at a better time of the year, Summer! I have been using this aloe moisturizer after spending time at the pool and beach. It feels really good on and that fact that it has the aloe healing properties makes this moisturizer all the better. I do recommend this product to anyone spending time in the sun.
I was not sure at first about this face moisturizer- I have heard the Aloe story for years-but I have to say that after I tried itI loved the silky feeling on my face! I used it over night also and the moisture stayed untilthe morning. I wonder if the packaging is going to stay the same? I would probably put it ina fancier package- it is worthy of a good moisturizer!
With it being summer time and trying to keep the sun off my face at all cost, I was disappointed to see there is no SPF in this moisturizer. I did try it at night thinking I could get the benefits of the aloe then. With the hot weather we are having right now the lightness of it was great. Would I buy it? I don’t think so. We’ve tried other moisturizers that have worked better and have had an SPF.
Sadly, I have to agree with some of the mixed reviews of this product. I haveslightly sensitive skin so I was excited to see that the Magic Of Aloe was color and fragrance free. However, there is definitely an odd smell to this moisturizerthat lingers all day. After a few hours it started to bother my eyes and I ended uphaving to wash it off (luckily I tested this out over the week-end and I was at home)Which leads to my second point, I tested this at home on a day I wouldn't be outside, because there is not an SPF in this product. The lotion seems too light to be anovernight moisturizer, yet I wouldn't use it during the day due to the lack of sunprotection. I've placed it on my vanity it the hopes that when the weather cools, Ican use this as a moisturizing base before I apply make-up for a night out.
I have been using this after my shower and I really like it alot! Yesterday I went to the Lake with MallyCat and when I got home I took a showerand put some on my face. It felt really good after being in the Sun all day. Also, I like to put it on after my mornig shower, and my fondation seems to glide right on after using this. It is non greasy, and so smooth. I will be using this for the rest of the Summer and probally Fall too. Not sure about Winter ...(don't want to think about that yet!)
The package certainly didn't razzle dazzle me when I received this. But I must say I was nicely surprised. This moisturizer is light and creamy. What I liked about it is my skin seemed to retain a lot of moisture the next day and have a nice glow (perhaps that's the aloe?).
I have been using the Magic of Aloe Proto moisturizer along with my daily regimen. I am very happy with the results. It is a light cream, perfect for thesummer months. I also have dry skin and like heavier creams in the winter. I am using it along with a sun screen and it does not clog my pores and leavesan even tone. My skin feels moisturized all day and evening so I would highly recommend this product. There doesn't seem to be a scent which is a realplus for me. I don't think lotions and creams should interfere with your perfume of choice.
I admit - it's hard for me to abandon my usual moisturizers because I'm a creature of habit and most new products cause me to break out. I enjoyed the Magic of Aloe as a light day moisturizer - especially now that it’s so disgustingly hot in LA, and it didn’t cause the break-outs - which I love. As an evening moisturizer, though, I didn’t get the effect I like - the feeling of waking up with skin that’s fresh and rejuvenated. I added it to my travel bag for a summer trip, because I think it will work well with heat and humidity, but I think I’ll stick to my own stuff at home!
Let me preface by saying I'm not really loving any moisturizer right now cause it's so stinking hot and I have oily skin so I don't really need it in the summer. I will try this again in the fall. But for now, I forced myself to use this and I'm not too impressed. I don't like how it smells, maybe it's how aloe smells, but I'm not a fan. And I don't feel like it did much for my skin, I didn't feel particularly smooth or moisturized. It was just kind of blah. But I'm a big fan of aloe for cuts and burns so I'd love to try some pure aloe from their line for medicinal purposes.
I'm used to a heavier moisturizer. My skin tends to be dry. It has been just fine in this heat and humidity. If I'm going out in the sun I put sunblock over it. I need a moisturizer with sunblock in the summer. We will see how it holds up in the cooler months.
This is a decent moisturizer. I find myself reaching for it when I don't have any pressing moisturizing needs. It's a light (i prefer heavy) cream with acceptable moisturizing abilities. It's great for summer when the humidity does most of the moisturizing I need anyway. My skin would scoff at this cream in the NYC winter months. So I would reccomend this cream for the summer when putting on cream is just going thru the motions. I'm sure aloe is effective, but I feel better with all the long named stuff or sheep placenta etc....
I liked this product but it's not the greatest. I usually use a thicker moisturizer because my skin is pretty dry during the summer months. This product was very light and thin though it was non greasy which is a plus. I was dissappointed it didn't have sun protection. This product might be better for me during fall and winter when my skin is less dry so I'll keep it around until then.
it's a plus it's fragrance free, light, and absorbs quickly. but there is no spf (booo) and for oily skin- not recommended. use sparingly.
Magic of Aloe is a very light moisturizer good for summertime... it would feel really good on your face after a sunburn. It does provide a smooth finish for makeup and also works as a nighttime moisturizer. Its consistency is a bit too runny for my taste, though, and there are other mositurizers out there that I much prefer especially in the winter. So... mixed reviews for Magic Aloe.
I liked the non-greasy feel for of the Alo Proto-Collagen Moisturizer, however, I do feel it's a little heavy for me, being that it's so warm right now. I would be curious to know how it would hold up in the winter. However, I absolutely need a moistrizer that comes with at least a SPF of 30, so I won't be able to use this product much. If it came with an SPF, I might be more inclined.
I am torn about this product. What I love is that it is not greasy at all and goes on light and easily rubs in.I found it had a light smell, if any at all. I've been using it every day and it seems to be doing a nice job -soft skin, no dryness, no iritation, doesn't leave me greasy. That said, in the summer months my face isn't dry at all but gets extremely dry and flaky in the freezing New England winter. I think my relationship with Magic of Aloe will be put to the test come December! I'm enjoying using it for now, but I don't know what the future holds.
I was neither here nor there about this product. It was fine but didn't knock my socks off. Although I like the idea that it is aloe-based, it didn't really stand out in any way from any other moisturizer.
The only thing about testing a new moisturizer is that I have to stop using my usual -- and afteryears of searching, I've finally found a product I can't live without. So unless it's AMAZING,I won't look to kindly upon it. (But if there is something AMAZING, bring it on!!!) That said, not crazy about this moisturizer. It left that sticky aloe feel without much residual moisture. Ho-hum for my aging skin. So I tried it on my feet after giving myself a pedi. Provided no moisture or smoothness. I'll pass, thanks.
I thought this product was nice, but not stellar. It provided a non-greasy moisturizing effect, but it didn't seem to be any better than what I am currently using. If I were an educator, I'd give it a B-.
i love anything aloe because im a biggie on natural ingredients- i think ill give this a try
Definately willing to try this one out.
i love this stuff! thanks for the review!

This sounds nice. The people in the comments said it was lightweight, so this could be an option for me to try.
