MADGE COSMETICS NO-SMADGE MASCARA IN SHADY

Tue, 05/09/2006 - 8:06pm
  • Eyes

Madge Cosmetics No-Smadge in Shady was sent for us to test and review. The package is straight forward, the promise is to give your lashes length and color without clumping. I actually can deal with a little clump now and then. During the day I nervously run my fingers over my lashes so if there is a clump I'll feel it-and smooth it out. What I can't deal with?

Smudge, or as it is referred to here "smadge". There is no texture to smadge, no scent, no way to find out if you have it unless you constantly check a mirror. NOTHING ruins your look more then messy, black racoon eyes ( number 1 faux-pas). Foundation three shades too dark or light #2, Lipliner in the shade of dark chocolate with light pink lipstick #3. Since we can't always have a mirror at our beck and call (you can if you attended our launch party and got our handy-dandy megsmakeup.com compact) does this product deliver? Are you left bright-eyed and bushy-tailed or left as Robby Racoon's soulmate?

I like mascara that makes my lashes WOW! And this mascara definitely made my lashes long though not as thick as my regular mascara. This mascara had a lighter cleaner look (not the smoky eyed nightime look) which is nice but I noticed it smudged underneath my eyes which for the clean mascara look didn't go well. otherwise i would have gone for the smoky eyes. All in all I like the mascara it's nice and clean but don't know if I'd become a regular user or if it would replace my favorite. Maybe as a back up.

This is a great BASIC mascara. It's a fantastic "no makeup, makeup" item to enhancethose lashes that are already fabuuuulous. I was blessed with fine lashes and hair...hmm, I wonder if it's true that the type of hair on your head IS reflective of yourlashes (or vice versa)?????? I'll have to research that and get back to you.

I got this package along with Kitten Vixen lipgloss for winning a contest here on Meg's Makeup. I had high hopes for this mascara as I did like the very light day coat it gave. I don't want to be Tammy Faye during the day running to grocery stores, drycleaners etc. About two hours after I had this on, I looked like I had been in a fight and lost. Two black eyes. This stuff flaked off and smadged as Madge says like no other mascara I have tried. Cheap or expensive. I have to recommend you to take your money elsewhere.

I love mascara, my favorite being Chanel lash curling - I can get my lashes looking fake with that stuff! I agree with the other reviewers - its a nice daily mascara, but doesn't amount to much. No clumping, but didn't thickenor curl my lashes at all. Its a nice extra on the eyes, but sometimes mascara is the only eye makeup I use, so I need a heavy duty one! I will use it again - I wasn't unhappy with this product, but not over the moon about it either.

I agree with most of the other people who tried this mascara. I like a heavy duty mascara that brings out my eyes.It is not bad for a daytime look. I like the Tarte mascara more and I will order that again.

If I am going to wear mascara, I want it to look like I have fabulous full lashes, or else I don't see the point. This mascara took forever to apply to see any result, AND, it left horrible smudges under my eyes after only wearing it for a very short while. Not a fan.

One of the perks of being a Meg's Makeup reviewer, is that I've been able to test a number of fantastic mascaras - thanks Meg for the opportunity!! I must say that Tarte is an extremely tough act to follow. When I tested Madge's product, I was not overly impressed. This mascara was just OK -- there was nothing overly special about it that would make me want to run out and buy it (...like I did with Classified Era Primer, and City Face Skin Refinisher). Madge's "No-Smadge" mildly separated, thickened and lengthened my lashes, but it pales in comparision to the the extraordinary ability of Tarte's "Lights, Camera, Lashes".

I agree completely with ShopB's review. (I shouldn't have read it before I posted!) But anyway, this is a great daytime mascara cause it simply does what mascara should do, defines the lashes. The consistancy is light, and has just the right amount of liquidity, not too dry so that it flakes and not to wet that it smadges. Madge Mascara is a great, basic mascara and should be a staple in yourmakeup stash!

Elements mascara makes my lashes SUPER LONG which I love! I did have a tiny bit of clumping, but I can wear this throughout the day and come home and look in the mirror and it's not all over my face. Tammy Faye Baker no more! Finding a mascara I can trust not to smudge is such a relief. I do wish it were darker. I like very black/ black mascara to make my eyes pop and this seemed to be brown/black. I'd love it in a darker night time shade

Madge Mascara is a nice change for the typical mascara on the market today. It's not heavy so it's great for a daytime natural look. Especially this time of year it works for me. It seperated my lashes and made them slightly longer without getting thicker. I love dramatic eyelashes, but if you're looking for a mascara that goes good with a light summer look-then Madge is the one.PS-Makes a good pair with Madge's lip locked gloss!

It's okay as all the girls said, but definitely as a daily mascara. Simple, no clumps. Didn't curl or lengthen my lashes though like i like.I'm a huge mascara fan so i use everything. Overall, i think they need to put more UMFF in the mascara.

As others have said, this is a basic mascara -- but I'd rate it as a really good basic mascara.Great for daily use, it adds color and fullness, without being overly dramatic -- but withoutbeing wimpy. I am almost to the bottom of my tube, and I can attest that it continues to holdup. The texture doesn't suffer with repeated use, and it has yet to clump (my pet peeve) or dry out.I can also say this -- while not advertised as such, it is indeed waterproof. I spent the day in100 degree heat, then went swimming. No running or smudging. Perfect for daytime (read: office)looks, my only complaint is that it does tend to flake a bit. But a great product, nonetheless.

I can't have enough mascara on my lashes. I'm no fan of the clumps, don't get me wrong, but I have high demands of my mascara, so for me this did not work. But then again, I'm not in a corporate environment, so for those women, this is great. Also, for those who have the smudge problems, this one is great.

I had high expectations. I thought this sleek little black package would do wonders. But open it up, and it just didn't seeme to sturdy. The brush was nothing remarkable either. I also thought it had an odd odor. It didn't do much to my lashes either. Give me DiorShow any day.

We have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to try many different mascara's, for me this one wasn’t one of my favorites. I’m not sure where I got my long lashes from, maybe GaGoo to make up for the wrinkles she left me with around my lips, anyway, I found Madge Mascara made my eyelashes stick together. Had to use my weapon of choice to separate them. I also like a fuller lash and wasn’t able to get that from this mascara. Kiss Me is still my fav.

This is a good daily mascara. It doesn't clump, smudge (smadge, as Madge says), and enhances in a subtle-perfect-for-the-office way. It also doesn't flake during the day, and no raccoon eyes. This is my weekday mascara. The only downside, I can't get the build-up when I want to go glamour girl style (my weekend persona). I would buy again for a daytime mascara... but for night, definitely check out Tarte!

The Madge No-Smudge Mascara gave a really natural look, there was just a little darkening (my lashes are terribly blond and short) but didn't provide the oomph that I usually love from mascara. It also left some slight rings under my eyes. Good for daytime or if you don't rub your eyes a lot.

This is not my type of mascara. I like mascara that makes my eyelashes look like taranchulas. I lean towards the Tammy Faye school of mascara application. This mascara is great if you just want to stain your own lashes. I need a little more help then Madge can give me.

This mascara is okay for someone who does not like to make their eye's look like they have lots of make-up on them, I am one of those make-up crazy people that like to really go nuts sometimes. I am also hooked on the Tarte Mascara, soI had a tough time with this one. If I didn't already have one that I LOVE than I think I would like this one alot more.Over-all, I will use it during the day and it is alot better than the old ones I had before I got hooked on my Tarte.

If you're looking for a dramatic eyelash effect from your mascara, don't buy Made No-Smadge Mascara. However, if you're looking to darken your lashes and make them look natural, this is the mascara for you. I liked how it gives my lashes a bit of thickness, but separates them. I also like how it doesn't run after a long day of wearing it! This would be a good every-day mascara - perfect for a professional or office setting. On the weekends, I'll stick with my Tarte.

I take back my initial recommendation of Madge No-Smadge Mascara. I wore this to work on a few long days... and had serious racoon eyes when I got home. This stuff is definitely not a top-notch mascara - especially something that smudges and is supposedly "no-smadge".

I really liked this mascara (and I am a bit of a mascara snob.) For all the billions of mascara I have tried in my oh too long lifetime, this one really is no-nonsense. It goes on nicely, doesn't take much to get lashes looking long and dark and stays right where you put it. Bing Bam Done and leaves you with a solid, dark, long, velvety look. I'm impressed.

:( I was thinking about buying because I sometimes get "raccoon" eyes...until I read some of the reviews! Kind of a let down, but I don't know. I have to try it myself in the near future.

I always seem to have raccoon eyes, so this might help xD Well, I don't have raccoon eyes, but that's probably because I've barely put on any make up in about 3 days.

i wanna try this too! i like my mascaras i use, but i usually get some smudging on my brow bone, or just under it.. where the eyelashes hit the skin.. i am not sure if it is from the oil on my face or the humidity in FL.. either way i dont like it.. plus when i try waterproof mascaras it is even worse?! doesnt make sense.
