TARTE MINERAL POWDER BRONZER-PARK AVE PRINCESS

Fri, 04/14/2006 - 9:16am
  • Face
  • Miscellaneous

Tarte Mineral Powder Bronzer! I can't believe the packaging. I mean, right there on the package they write "Park Avenue Princess". They enclose their product in a super fab gold, faux croc with a faux gold chain. HOW DECADENT IS THAT! Tarte and Dianne Brill should have a package-off. They both reign supreme in this category. Oh boy, please don't get me into packaging. You're talking to a lady that thinks Chanel is priced reasonably for the honor of the double CC's. The CC purse hides A LOT of flaws. Does this bronzer? Are you a golden godess with a few swipes from this palette or is the canal street knock-off better? For $28.00 are you turned into a 24 carat Park Avenue Princess?

I've never really been a Park Avenue girl, having spent most of my formative years on the Upper West Side, so I was a little hestitant about this bronzer. Also the fact that I am sometimes mistaken for an anemic albino can make bronzer look a little fake on me. I had flirted with Bobbi Brown's shimmer brick, but that is more shimmer-inducing as opposed to bronzing. But I tried this bronzer out carefully and was pleased with the results. With a light hand and layered over a pink blush, it gave me a little warm glow and not too much sparkle. I might try a little extra sweep later in the summer to try to fool the people I work with into thinking that I can tan. While I still am planning on staying west of Central Park, there's no harm in pretending I have a pied a terre on the East Side.

Bronzers usually make me nervous- I'm not glam enough to pull off the sparkly effect without looking like I have just played Barbie dress-up with my niece, and I'm not coordinated enough to put it on evenly without seriously ruining whatever (usually white) piece of clothing I'm wearing that day. However, this one's different. Perhaps its the fancy packaging- I literally applied it with a bit more refined action than I do usually, and the results really are natural enough to look like I just stepped off the yacht in Capri. Love the gold chain. This one's a keeper!

I used a very small amount of Park Avenue Princess, applied with a very large brush, and it gave a wonderful glow to my face; I think it would be perfect over a tan. I love the packaging, especially the feel of the compact and the mirror, but it's not something that I would keep in my purse for touch-ups because without a brush it would be hard to apply the small amount that gives that nice, subtle, glow.

I have to say, I've never been a heavy bronzer user. I'm pale, and particularly in the winter, bronzer just makes me look too... well, bronze. Having this experience in mind, I've been using the Tartebronzer with a very *light* hand -- and, voila, it's more of a"browner" than a bronzer! It imparts a subtle glow without adding muchcolor, but the color it does give is much closer to the tone of my skinwith sun than any bronzer I've used before. I feel like I never reallyunderstood how bronzer is supposed to be used, or how it's supposed tolook until I tried the Tarte. Now I have a whole new weapon in my beautyarsenal! Love it! (And the Park Avenue meets S & M packaging :)

I really liked this bronzer from Tarte. It had a nice gold shimmery tone on my very pale skin. I realized that sparkly tones are more appropriate for going out for a "night on the town" than for my usual daytime makeup routine. I must advise that a little bit goes a really long way -- at first I used way too much causing my faceto have an unnatural, orangey-yellow "fake-baked" look. Girls, a little dab will do ya! It was also good for adding a little color to the rest of my extremely pale-white arms and legs. Also, Tarte has done another great job with its unique, hip packaging!

I am a huge brozer fan since using the Sugar bronzer so I was so excited to try Tarte. When I got it, I couldn't take my eyes off it - you're immediately attracted to the packaging. Its wonderful! So the bronzer itself - I think I love this one too! Its more brown, so instead of getting a golden glow, I look pretty browney tan. I have very fair skin and I'm pale as a ghost after the northeast winter. I think this bronzer will be perfect for me during the summer when I have a little more tan on my face.

Sad to say for me but I wasn't born with an olive complexion and this winter isn't any help either. As a bronzer it wasn't really a wise thing for me to try to change the color of my face. However, I did use it to highlight, and as a blush and I was happy with the results. The powder went on smoothly and had a even tone on my cheeks. The color was also good it had a natural look. I really loved the packaging, the mock purse, along with the crock look is really clever. Tarte seems to have a great eye for making their products look appealing. I also liked the magnet closer instead of a clasp, it was much easier to open. If you use a bronzer you should give this product a try.

I LOVE THIS BRONZER!!!!!! this is an absolute must have, let's see where can i start. First and foremost I am a packaging junkie... how hot is this!!! As for the bronzer itself- let's just say it's as light as a feather and as strong as a shadow. What I love about this product is very simple... where I like to highlite on any skin tones it does just that. Now the really cool part is that were I want to use this product to contour a face, I can.... I'm all about the pigment in a product whether it is sheer or opaque, with this bronzer they hit the nail on the it's head.......

The packaging is amazing, and worth the purchase just for the novelty of the beautiful faux leather outer cover. Although must admit that I didn't like this bronzer as much as I have liked many, and I must admit, I do use a lot of bronzers as I am somewhat of a paleface!!!For me, the color didn't transfer well from the brush onto my face. So at first it seemed like I didn't have enough on then after I put on more I looked like a clown.I don't think it was an issue with the brush, as it is an expensive brush and has worked well w/ other bronzers. The other thing I didn't like was that there wasn't a contrast color... so the color looked very monotone without any highlights. In summary, it's fine-- but not too much better than average-- except of course the stellar packaging.

Yet another exquisitely packaged product from Tarte! The gold croc looks and feels great and the tiny gold chain adds fun. And I always appreciate a magnetic closure, so simple and the clasp will never break Unfortunately, I didn't love the bronze powder as much as I enjoyed the exterior. The color looks great to my eye -a shimmering bronze with gold undertones, but it was too yellowing for my skin. I have a fair complexion and this just doesn't work for me. I used a large brush to sweep the color across my face and was impressed with the consistency which blends well. It felt light on my skin and wore well. Too bad it doesn't work with my skin tone.

I LOVE THE TARTE PRODUCT LINE! This bronzer comes in the most amazing packaging and has the perfect amount of shimmer in it. You only need to use a few strokes to acheive a beautiful glow, like you just walked off a magazine page. I am so impressed with the compact too. It has a magnetic attraction that keeps it together when closed and the bronzing powder is 'tight' and doesn't cake all over the place like so many others do. It is, by far the best quality line, for the price that I have come across. I'm addicted.

I feel like I should be on an episode of the Rich and Famous when I whip this lovely packaged bronzer out of my purse. The packaging is fabulous. But better still is the bronzer. Of all the ones we have tried this one is my favorite. But like with all bronzers I think you have to get the hang of how much works best on your face. The colors gives me a nice glow and just out of the sun look. With bout’s of skin cancer in my family, tanning my face is not an option, nor should the rest of my body, but hey I girls gotta have a little summer glow that doesn’t come out of a bottle sometimes. I will be using this bronzer regularly.

Brooke says,

I'll start by saying that I tested this product one morning when I was running late for work. The result: I walked around like looking like I was wearing a white turtle neck all day. (I am pale. Not quite Casper the Friendly Ghost white, yet far from being considered tan.) On a quick glance in the mirror on my way out the door, I thought "Wow, I actually look like I've gotten some sun." Upon arriving at work, the first thing anyone said to me was, "Woah, are you feeling okay, you look a little bit green, litterally." On closer inspection I discovered I was an unnatural shade of something--it was yellow, not green. Having applied the bronzer just to my cheekbones and nose, I was surprised to find my entire face a completely different shade of unnatural looking yellowish brown, than my neck. Needless to say, it was not my finest makeup moment.About the packaging: was it just me, or did any one else not get it? (I do seem to be challenged in this department). Is the gold chain supposed to be a nod to my inner Park Avenue gangsta? Or is it meant to resemble a purse strap to the faux croc mini-purse like packaging? Wasn't completely wowed, though am a HUGE fan of the faux purple croc casing of TARTE's mascara.

I don't want to sound like I'm leaving Ebay feedback but I know I will anyway. This product has A+ packaging. It is so girly and eye catching. I'm a sucker for pretty packaging. At Christmas I very carefully open items that I love the paper or bag they came in. Presents from Chi Chi are known to come in pretty packages : ) Anyway, I love this bronzer. I am not a blush girl and bronzers are easier in my opinion to brush and go. Like many in the winter I'm just a pasty shade of blah this bronzers seems the best to cure that hospital room look since it's not over powering if used properly. In the summer I commit the ultimate skin care sin and spend hours outside with only SPF15 so I do get tan. Thankfully I actually get tan. Some of my family members go from bright pasty to bright red and back to pasty. So I guess I can thank my father for my ability to brown. This bronzer is great for making yourself not so blah or to liven up a summer tan. Use lightly with a big fluffy brush and you will have a great sparkle. It also helps, applied carefully to cover up untanned areas. Say you just got your brows waxed and there are noticeably white arches, use a small brush and this bronzer and blend. I liked this product for many reasons light, stays on, light shimmer, not orange or to bronzey and of course the package!

Tarte-You rock! Who cares what the bronzer looks like-have you seen the gorgeous gold faux croc? J/K But it does look great in my makeup bag and is still small enough to carry in a little bag. Oh, how's the product you ask? Well, it looked great on me as I have olive skin and tan well. I've actually never been one to use a bronzer because in the summer when i want to look 'bronze' I usually already do. but this little tarte gave me a great gold shimmer (it did get a little heavy between my eyes, near the brow-so just have to use a lighter brush stroke there) but overall really liked the powder. And it's just so darn pretty! Great gift item, especially if you pair it with green, white, or purple items.

I was a little nervous to test this, as I didn't like the other 2 Tarte items-but I've gotta say-I LOVE THIS BRONZER! But I totally agree with Gem, less is more in this case. But I find that with all bronzers, too much and you just look dirty! I like the slight shimmer in it, it's very....bronze-y! But it's also super fine so you don't look like a teenager. And the packaging just makes me weak at the knees. What you can't see in the photo is a square mirror incased in more bronze leather, with bronze satin at the hinge. Just divine! Makes the deisgner in me very happy. This is one of my favorite things I've tested.

Oh Tarte...you certainly know how to entice us!! Again, the packaging is fabulous. In fact, although I don't use the bronzer daily, it's still in my purse-just to elicit comments from friends rummaging through it! Pathetic...I know. As for the bronzer itself, I do agree that it must be applied with a light hand, even for olive toned skinned like mine. I swipe the bronzer once with a large powder brush (MAC 150) and it is enough to do the job and then some. The gold flecks are subtle enough on my skin to give good coverage yet not look overdone, but I see how it would be too overwhelming for those with fair complexions. Overall, I recommend this product for a quick shimmer, and of course, for some great reactions!

I really love this bronzer. But here's the thing: I use bronzer in place of blush. I only use bronzer as an all over thing if I am recently spray tanned ala Paris Hilton, or if I just came back from the islands (the latter is not as common as my trips to the spray tan salons). It definitely has a golden irredescent sheen to it. But it is also very sheer. In a good way. Some of the bronzers are so over pigmented that they go on like mud and look really obvious. This goes on very subtle. I would reccomed it.

A very nice look with bronzed eyes, a little shimmer gloss and dark smoldering plum eye pencil & black lashes. The packaging is, of course, just as wonderful! I have yet for someone to not comment on it when I pull it out of my handbag. Like other reviewers, however, a little bit goes a long way and make sure to try this color before buying as it will not suit every skin tone. If it does match, make sure not to neglect your decollete, shoulders, etc. It's just that pretty!

I'm a light skinned blonde so I can look like I have dirt on my face if I'm not careful about color. Tarte definitely wins the 'best packaging' prize if there was ever a contest for this.Love the way the bronzer flips open and how it magnetically closes.Unfortunately, the color was a bit too dark for me. I think that i would use it again in the summer with a nice tan, but it's going to have to sit tight in my cosmetic drawer until then. Also, my last comment would be that the powder tends to be a little loose after you use it a couple of times so beware of the excess that might fall out of the case when you close it.Overall, Tarte still gets a thumbs up for packaging.

I was definitely drawn to this product by the packaging alone - the gold, faux leather case with the chain was just so appealing! Tarte definitely hired a very smart package designer. I tried this bronzer a couple of times, though, and I was unfortunately more impressed with the package than I was with the product itself. Perhaps it was because of my olive skin tone, but the color did not go well with my complexion. I looked too orange. Perhaps this color is better for someone with darker skin?

Sadly, this is my first Tarte disappointment. LOVE the packaging and think it would look fabulous in my purse. I digress. As I've mentioned before, I have a very fair complexion with pink undertones. This bronzer is too much for me, even though I was very light-handed with it. I think it's made for people who have more pigment than me to begin with. That said, the product consistency is nice. I could see that with the right coloring, this would look fantastic. Anyone know if there's another shade available?

It's tough for me to talk about bronzers. I'm just not a bronzing kind of gal -- I much prefer blushes. At most, I'll fling on some shimmery peach blush and call it a day. This is not to say I'm not interested in bronzers, I just don't think we get along all that well. Plus, I'd been scared off in the past by freaky, streaky, muddy bronzers, and I was in no hurry to repeat that experience! This little compact just screams "Bling!", it tres chic! The first time I tried it, *I* screamed "Bling" too! I used far too heavy a hand, and ended up looking like a Miami Club Kid. But I finally figured out to use a light hand. I swirled my blush brush in pink blush first, and then swept it across the bronzer. Next, I tapped off all of the excess powder and then applied it to my cheeks, lightly across the forehead, and down the bridge of my nose. The effect I got was a sheer dusting of sunny looking colour on my cheeks. The bronzer added a subtle, healthy gleam that I don't get when using blush alone. I liked that this bronzer was not too dark, and that it did not look muddy. The shimmer packs quite a punch, but you can avoid the blinding J.Lo look if you tap off the excess before applying. This yellow-based bronzer should flatter most skin tones... I imagine it would look especially good on blondes (because it won't overpower pale skin) or gals of Mediterreanean or Latin descent. Add some pale gold eye shadow and a swipe of pale mauvey pink gloss, and I'm ready to take Park Ave by storm!! As noted above, would be stunning on the collarbone or shoulders for a night out!

Hate to say I did not like this bronzer at all. It made me look jaundice! The yellow tones in this bronzer were way too much for me (I like a more of a brown tone, such as the Sugar bronzer), especially since the yellow seemed to stick to my under eye more than another part of my face and make me look like nuts! The package and consistency seem good, but this powder just didn’t work for me personally. I only used it 4 times and will pass it on to my friend with fair/rosy skin and blond hair; maybe the yellow/gold will compliment her...and if it doesn’t she can toss it!!!

Once again Tarte has dressed their product up with such glamour, but again I did not think the product would live up to its packaging. Well I can't tell you how much I love this bronzer. My skin has such a beautiful glow when wearing it that I really don't need any other make-up to make me look alive in the morning, except mascara of course. My skin tone evens out and any blotchiness that I have appears hidden when wearing it. Maybe the coloring of the bronzer is just compatable with my skin, but it is really a perfect match for me-so natural looking.

I loved this bronzer! I typically don't wear much makeup - maybe alittle foundation, mascara and lipgloss. I have darker/olive skin so can usually get away with that except in deep winter when I turn a lovely shade of greenish yellow. As others have said, alittle goes a long way. A couple of times I did feel really overdone having put too much on but now I have the right touch and it really adds a nice and natural glow. I can imagine it would be easy to look overdone if you were paler but for darker skin it's great and the packaging of course is all that.

I have been wanting this for probably about 3 years.  I'm a bronzer-a-holic.  I probably enough bronzer to last me at least 10 years, but yet I crave more.  Over the past few years I have heard a lot of great reviews on this.  I almost bought it just because of the name.  Sometimes makeup products have such catchy names, that I can't help but want to buy them.  I really love the container this comes in too.  It is super cute.  Still I have no Tarte in my hand.  I think this is still being sold, if so I want to try it.

I have yet to meet a tarte product that I don't love, and this is no exception! I just got it yesterday from Sephora, and I was worried it might be too dark for my pale skin, but it's perfect!! I felt like it really "woke-up" my face, and a little went a long way.

This sounds so promising :D I've always wanted to try a bronzer but dont want to shell out too much for one - especially if it turns me orange. I can't get over how cute that packaging is, and I dont even like the whole faux snakeskin bag trend

SMSS  this is not all natural. Sorry ..the 1st top ingredients  are synthetics. Not worth the money to me. I try to stay natural as possible.
